Good to see withheld 40c divi (c 30p ) now to be paid.Post- Pfizer, investment portfolio should have risen further.
On the face of it, I'd agreed. You appear to get the Brazilian business for next to nothing!
"At 30 September 2020, the investment portfolio including cash under management amounted to US$281.8 million (30 June 2020: US$267.7 million). The investment portfolio represents US$7.94(£6.11) per Ocean Wilsons share. At 31 October 2020, the investment portfolio including cash under management amounted to US$280.6 million."
The company has been around for the best part of a century and it's a dominant player with long standing shareholders. It's not without risk, but I always thinks it worth buying in periods like this. Deep value is the term that comes to mind.
By my calculation the Net Asset Value has today gone over 15 pounds, thus the share price of only £6.40 is at a whopping 60%+ discount.
With results due Wednesday and hopefully a confirmation of the 15 pound NAV, there must be a chance of a long overdue move up??!
Plus still the potential of a port/s sale, Chinese interest and potential special dividend perhaps?
Thoughts? It seems quite quiet on here!
I read Chinese. If I can find this article again will post details. I bought the stock and sold it despite it being cheap -but on past performance!
w/e i saw some :( news on brazil.
impact on our shipping services??
patxd - which competitors?
NXD buying . Good signal, no??
Has been good in past but careful research shows company has many issues with competition
NAV was nearly £16 at the end of December. The investment portfolio has the potential to recover and make this look cheap. The company has a long history.
that was a nifty intra-day profit :)
NAV double SP.
wonder how the money managers are fairing for old OCN
misjudged bottom
but looks tasty here *now*
bought back 250@950
fairly cheap rel to assets
dyor
Excellent - EPS more than doubled. Read it all yourself.
Same USD value as last year but exchange rate movement means more than 10% increase for sterling holders - 43.7p to 48.8p per share.
Dividend held at 63 cents per share. Allowing for depreciation of £ versus $ since last year, this implies a significant increase on last year for those paid in £.
will
quickly ..oh well..better luck next time
despite profit taking...can buy @936; sell a little over bid ...usd strengthening, wilson sp suggesting at some possible mojo (v limited vol tho lol); brazilian stockmarket bouyant (forward looking or what); s&p hasn't crashed..yet ..ho hum
no view on crl..clearly done v well..fully/reasonably priced???
Sold these today. Dyounhave a take on Creightons Jolly?
850-880 range to flip back in here ..the discount to NAV has widened with £ plummeting..but the sell off from not quite 10 pounds is powerful drag/force imv
hampered by history, lack of imagination.. ...to flourish in OPOV democratic processes you need to stick to scripts/narratives..the ignorant masses are naturally limited and conservative ..if you propose helicopter money or massive infra spend on tick, you are branded by canny media as a dangerous leftie lunatic..they know how dim witted they readers are..and what sells
don't disagree with any of that, Jolly.... but i've got to be invested somewhere (i KNOW i can't time the market) and OCN is better than most, in my view....but do agree. Helicopter money should come in form of a fiscal stimulus - a 'New Deal' but let's see if the politicians bottle it, as they have done before. It clearly doesn't work to leave the central bankers to do all the work...
