at least the general trend is upwards - I cant see any major uptick until the results out in a few weeks (from memory?)
Open up 130'now back down amazing
Well lets hope so.still.least so.far today biggest up I.seen for months
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40666793 Reason for the recent rise in SP? if the rise in sales has wiped out the previous 3 months losses in Next, SP should be back into the low 40's
I noticed this and very disappointed. The only way to gain would be to sell before ex-dividend and rebuy afterwards at the lower price. I really hope next recovers as it is unjustifiably oversold. Perhaps currency fluctuations have hit this share harder than others.
this was the update from Woodford today: "Next was also weak, along with the broader UK retail sector. This has been the result of lingering concerns about the outlook for the UK consumer economy. As regular readers will know, we believe the market has become far too pessimistic about the prospects of the domestic economy and although this has weighed on the share prices of businesses like Next, a compelling and contrarian opportunity has, in our view, opened up. As far as Next is concerned, this view was reinforced during the month following a meeting with Lord Wolfson, the company’s CEO, which reassured us that the company remains a well-managed retailer, determined and well-situated to deliver long-term shareholder value. We added to the holding during the month."
Well I've bought in here again with a small tranche at 3675 as it's looking like it may have found a floor, but left more in reserve in case the knife keeps falling further. GLA
Sometimes divis work anglaterre sometimes they don't, when a share is in distress and then drops due to ex divi, the momentum can carry it on downwards. I had a mate who was looking to enter NXT.L pre ex dividend date, but I warned him off as it was downwards trending. ATM I'm just unsure about what IS a good entry point here, no one seems to know where to go RE interest rates, inflation is uncertain as Is Brexit outcome. For now with the continued downward I'm sitting on the sidelines with this one I think. Hmmm
This share has obviously tanked. But the dividend although generous doesn't actually count for anything. The share goes down by the dividend so there is no point to the dividend. We're all hurting from this share
I sold out from here a while ago, at these levels it's tempting... and long term a pretty safe bet mitigated by a whacking great dividend (assuming it's retained at current levels down the line). However, shorters have got their teeth into the retail sector at present, so where it goes is dependant on them..... I'm watching closely for a potential entry point.
I think this share is a very good buying opportunity. It's the lowest it has been in a very long time.
wish i sold , divi pointless as share price gone down 4 pounds, way its going be under 30 pounds a share soon
...Never more true than here. I was going to sell pre election, just never got around to it. I still believe this is a great stock, but sadly I think of all the extra shares (and Divi) I could have had if my timing was better and I'd stuck to the plan. Hey Ho!
Thanks for dividend info. Suppose the question is whether to wait until this goes ex dividend and possibly as low as 3600?... That would be a very good entry point imo.
4 x 45p special dividends on top.
Dividend yield.. Showing 4.10% on LSE.. Not 9%.. Which is correct please?
Maybe 3850 ea?
Yes the retail sector (& utilities this week) have been brutally hammered. Loss of 3% in a day here on the back of no company specific news but it all comes down to shorters again I'm afraid who dramatically accentuate any falls and suppress any rise. They make the company and the overall economy look a lot worse than it actually is. Next is now yielding 9% and on a forward P/E of 9. Despite this people still argue shorters are good for the market - I wonder why shorting was banned during the credit crunch if it is so good.....
Joke lately this .always down .then be down another 150' on 6 .ok if sp up but not .stange
Hitting 3 month lows and a 150p dividend [3.7% alone] next week Ex-dividend 6th July
...a bit gloomy at the moment, however I'm sure that the SP will improve as Summer gives way to Autumnn and sales pick up. Meanwhile, a nice payout to look forward to. A good buying window with a cash gift, what more could an investor ask for.
I'm puzzled by the continued fall in the SP. Though it appears to have a floor of 3950. I think Next is one of the best placed retailers to weather brexit.
