Optigene Limited look like a pretty small outfit

They will require major support to roll this out - from PrimerDesign.
This is good stuff , listening to Han****s speech yesterday i think this was one of the reasons he was able to say he ws hugely scaling up testing by the end of the month. He couldn't have stated that unless they had access to very quick and easy field test.
I think this has a way to go if that is the case GLA and keep healthy all so we can spend the profits!!!
Basic info on sped up test can be found in Tweet. Includes image of the lab equipment, looks well made and compact.
They are going to speak to UK gov in next 24hrs

Can process 300 tests an hour. Plus :
"This specific and extremely sensitive test can operate directly from nasal and throat swabs to produce results in less than 20 minutes. Unlike the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test that has already been deployed for diagnosing the
virus, the OptiGene procedure uses isothermal LAMP technology that does not require
expensive and time-consuming RNA extraction and is inherently much faster than PCR"
This would be a game changer in the fight.
Not one for pumpy statements, but does feel like this is about to be one of hottest stocks going. Ducks are being lined up.
Quickdraw , thanks for that link earlier. That's a big step forwards and we're connected.
thank you
Donnotrader,

Some info on Isothermal LAMP technology
"Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a single-tube technique for the amplification of DNA[1][2] and a low-cost alternative to detect certain diseases. Reverse Transcription Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (RT-LAMP) combines LAMP with a reverse transcription step to allow the detection of RNA.
LAMP is an isothermal nucleic acid amplification technique. In contrast to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, in which the reaction is carried out with a series of alternating temperature steps or cycles, isothermal amplification is carried out at a constant temperature, and does not require a thermal cycler"

We could hit 2.10 - looks like mm's trying to fish but ask gets hit with more and more buys as the same as France.....The tweets are interesting to!!! :-)
This will move fast very soon as Govs can't sit around now and globally the demand is going to go crazy!!!!!
Gov's will learn from UK and US delays in testing!
The Americans are just waking up, this could get very interesting this afternoon !!
Full ask getting paid soon!!
Those in charge of the wards PPE should be sacked for wasting public time and money if that happened.
Rather get a shot of them getting the bum's rush out the tradesmans entrance!
Seights, sure. Big proportion of the population live in a fantasy world, mainly due to these "Celebs," especially the younger influenced ones. Who wants to see them "Suffering" under self isolation.
And just to add to my last post, anyone prepared to give me a price for either one of the Kardashians or David Beckham to don some protective clothing and make a 'celebrity' visit to one of the Coronavirus wards either here in the UK or in the USA.
Lets say 1,000,000 -1 chance !!!
Atisha I meant to say.
Well said !!
I would also add that twitter, facebook et al should all ban so-called 'celebrities' from using their platforms to show off what they are doing during this crisis.
Leave the platforms solely for our NHS, volunteers and everyone who is helping to fight this cause.
They are our REAL heroes !!!!!!!!
Just looking at the chart...Nice consolidation on the chart. No gaps this morning. MACD and RSI getting to a level where we should continue this mornings rise. We have almost got rid of the 10%ers from yesterdays 170 entry level. 3 Vs 2 on level 2. Once we finish this period of consolidation in the next 1/2- 1hour, id' expect us to be off north again. All looking good IMHO.
No advice intended. DYOR.
thanks Johnny
Quickdraw, speed is one thing, accuracy another.
100% conformance to positive test cases is required. This is the conclusion I got from the 150 failed antibody test trials. Mutations need to be addressed.
The 100% homology and the daily monitoring for mutations is as VanV put it our golden goose.
As of 27th March 2020 PrimerDesign can comfirm 100% homology with the 1743 full length good quality SARS-CoV-2 sequences published on the GISAID EpiCoV database. Can any pther Company make this bold statement?
Yes, there should be knighthoods for all the medical frontline staff and workers during this crisis, not multi millionaire celebrities.
Quickdraw re They state they are working in partnership with Novacyt. can you clarify who 'they are'? thanks
They state they are working in partnership with Novacyt.
Any technicians on here with any ideas how they could reduce duration from 60>90 mins to 5>20mins?
My geneticist friend who may soon be running Primerdesign tests has no idea how Dr Stephen Kidd and his team could be doing this. My friend calls BS but Dr Kelly looks legit from looking at Linkedin account. Also see he is connected with Adam Herridge from Novacyt.

Great Post johnnybbad, - can see a knighthood for the team members if this is validated to PHE satisfaction.
The ROW will all want the process. Sounds like this could be used anywhere with a power supply.
"PrimerDesign was the first company to set up the test and we have collaborated with them to test real-life situations on patients returning from China."
Stephen said there is limited testing available in the UK and people are waiting three of four days for their Covid-19 results.
The team, which includes numerous volunteers, has now validated the test and has announced today that it can officially detect SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19, in less than 10 minutes, or can use liquid directly from a swab to obtain results in less than 20 minutes – less time that any equivalent method currently in use.
The test, developed by UK company OptiGene, was created using a simple molecular diagnostic test, which the company says could be rapidly deployed around the UK to significantly increase the capacity to diagnose the deadly virus.
Nearly 300 patient samples can be processed in an hour using a single instrument.
The test can be used from nasal and throat swabs, using isothermal LAMP technology that does not require expensive and time-consuming extraction methods.
Dr Veronica Fowler, who spoke to the Gazette exclusively about the test, volunteered her weekends with Dr Bryony Armson, to validate the test, alongside Stephen Kidd.
The doctor, who has a background in veterinary health, described the test as a “game changer”, adding: “The government wanted a rapid, simple and easily deployable test and we responded (in our spare time). This assay is not dependent on the same reagents as the other front line tests and therefore is much less susceptible to reagent shortages which is a major concern for the front line tests currently in use.
“We can achieve a result in five minutes when using RNA as the sample, or in less than 20 minutes if we use fluid directly from a swab.
“Bryony, Stephen and I are delighted with the validation of this assay which will be a real game changer for the NHS and rest of the world. The UK can increase testing capacity, let’s do it together. If we can do this in our spare time, just think what can be done when this tool is rolled out.”
OptiGene now plans to speak with Public Health England within the next 24 hours with the hope of the test being used around the UK to significantly increase testing of Covid-19.
Basingstoke is the UK hospital to develop live test for Covid-19
The microbiology team at Basingstoke North Hampshire Hospitals was the first non-Public Health England lab to have go live for detecting Covid-19.
Since the beginning of February, the team has been testing for the virus at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
The operation is run by clinical scientist Stephen Kidd who previously told the Gazette: "Our small team of six have been working flat out. Testing has been successful, we've shared our data and are reporting to Public Health England on how we have done it.
"PrimerDesign was the first company to set up the test and we have collaborated with them to test real-life situations on patients returning from China."
Stephen said there is limited testing available in the UK and people are waiting three of four days for their Covid-19 results.
While at the hospital, because the testing is in-house, patients can get their results within a day.
"Novacyt needs to buy into Basingstoke's test and back the best horse"
If you read the article it is Primerdesign they are working with.
“We were in a fortunate position to be able to link with a local company in Chandlers Ford, PrimerDesign, who partnered with us to provide the testing kits needed and we are very delighted that we could join forces to make this a reality so quickly.
Blownitalready, yes i think there were some who didn't read the whole article. good news indeed.
