The Zoe Covid study is supported by a grant from the U.K. Govt DHSC etc......
The Guardian is giving a balanced view as far as I can see of the present situation.
Guess that some people will believe what they want to believe.
PI100, you're falling into the trap of basing your opinion on how people are behaving. In reality, the pandemic is far from over.
Listening to the government you would think the pandemic was a distant memory. That is why you will keep hearing them say "just to remind you, this pandemic is not over" despite their actions being completely contrary.
There's a while yet left in this thing.
The guardian runs an ‘nhs in winter crisis’ story every year, covid or no covid. Result of management incompetence and corrupt governments running it down to sell off, as opposed to solely covid.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/oct/28/looking-for-the-peak-the-cautious-optimism-over-stalling-uk-covid-cases
Cases MAY level-off but bets are off till after half-term.
NHS faces winter crisis regardless.
According to the latest Zoe Covid figures - based on PCR and LFT data from up to 5 days ago - there are about 92,953 new daily symptomatic cases of Covid in the U.K. on average, with about 1 in 56 people in the U.K. having the virus with symptoms.
There is uncertainty about when a peak could be seen.
Maybe vaccine passports because they do seem hell bent on continuing towards totalitarianism but next to no chance of any actual distancing etc restrictions
PI100, yes probably a bit of an overstatement on my behalf regards lockdown, but can see some restictions being enforced.
Oh and tkr, are you actually serious about another lockdown? Not a chance, thankfully.
Gggg - informative, thanks. Hopefully your optimism will bear fruit :)
Tkr- by ‘covid is over’, obviously I don’t mean literally over and gone, it never will be, but due to vaccines I mean it is now at a level that the government and public have deemed to be acceptable. ‘Cases’ don’t mean anywhere near as much now, due to vaccines, which is fantastic news for the population. Of course cases will be higher than 6 months ago - back in April and may there was still SD, mass WFH, hardly anyone in sports stadiums etc., now EVERYTHING is back to normal. Imagine the cases 7-8 months ago if sports stadiums were packed to the rafters, pubs spilling out onto the streets, public transport packed etc etc. I’m not being pessimistic about ncyt deliberately but I work in facts as opposed to pure hope.
@jasper - really? Media will have you believe people are pouring back into offices.
Sorry Jasper. I live in Bedfordshire. By far the majority of people are back at work
in offices…home counties and London. By far. Roads are jam packed just as before covid. M1 and M25 solid. It is here as if covid did not exist. A few masks. Just a few.
On the Tube only about half. Not responsible but the way itvis. We have Boris and Sunak. Economy comes before people and lives.
Very few people are actually going into work these days and most still very worried about COVID and the winter.
An awful lot of people still not willing to contemplate going on holiday.
In Scotland we are still wearing masks
Anyone who assumes that covid is over for the UK when stats say we are higher than 6 months ago will have to think again, the UK is one of the top in the table.plus more Countries have been taken off the red list, winter on its way,can see another lock down up and coming,so no way is covid over,it will never be over till no one on earth has it. I am taking the oppurtunity of this silly sp to top up just in small amounts as funds allow, this share is a no brainer, hold for gold, will all click into place over the next 12 months, not advice, just my view.GLA.
Yes because of unique offering of outside the lab environment of promate and q machines. They mixed it with dhsc but if you look at revenue breakdown outside of that now they are still delivering 100m plus this year in revenue....soooooo 100m reasons why they can especially with larger workforce, global reach and new experienced exec team with strong background. If you take a look at the recent rns you will see the agreement with Unicef.
Always happy to help.
All good on paper, gggg, but do you believe ncyt has the capability to go after such contracts? The last 9-12 months suggests a very small company mentality, understandable as it was before covid, and I think it is a fair challenge to question whether they have the clout to secure significant contracts to tap into that war chest. Communication is abysmal, so what confidence should we have that they are capable of mixing it with the bigger fish in the pond?
WHO appeals for £17bn Covid war chest
The World Health Organisation and other aid groups have appealed to leaders of the world’s 20 biggest economies to fund a $23.4bn (£17bn) plan to bring Covid vaccines, tests and drugs to poorer countries in the next year.
The ambitious plan outlines the strategy of the Access to Covid-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) until September 2022, expected to include use of an experimental oral antiviral pill made by Merck & Co for treating mild and moderate cases.
Equal budgets of $7bn are earmarked for both vaccines and diagnostic tests, with a further $5.9bn for boosting health systems and $3.5bn for treatments including antivirals, corticosteroids, and medical oxygen.
Now remember the RNS and Unicef tie up....
What matters to novacyt is how many PCR tests are being conducted daily, both in the UK and wherever else we sell to - the most recent UK figure was 435000. Many of the positives will also be screened by our bioinformatics team.
There is significant covid revenue to be won for some time to come.
Today - 40k cases, almost 1k hospitalized with 9 k in hospital and 165 dead. Aye, totally over.
Been in London today for the first time since before the pandemic and it seems to be very much over based on public opinion. If cases are dropping with literally zero distancing etc it really has run its course. £10m/month? Given the DHSC debacle I don’t trust a word of it until I see it in the accounts (I mean all sales and not just those to the Tory crooks).
Covid's over? Still generating £10m per month. It will slowly phase out but it's not over by a long stretch
Still capitalise on covid? You’re a year too late, OP. We have the cash from covid, but that’s over so we need to look beyond.
Absolutely rock solid support just below 250p, shown once again.
Just as I say it the rocket has been fired up...
I think there are alot of people sat on the sidelines with itchy trigger fingers looking for a sign its going to rise again. Any kind of sign an we will rocket again
You’d like to think there would be an update by Monday lunch time as they are at that event in the NEC showcasing all their products etc next week so will want co prep etc there so you’d expect update and release.
The company IMO is fighting on 3 fronts.
1. to still capitalise on Covid
2. to gain a foothold worldwide its distributor network/sales team/POC Q16/32 hardware installations
3. To utilise its current portfolio of non covid tests and focus into a refined number of key areas.
