I assume different countries will also look at the ‘IPSOS Global Trustworthy index’ .
SA trust in scientist is only 26th out of a 28th list with 50%….UK is 7th with 66%
Government scores low too for SA
Doctors is lower in SA.
Funny enough, hardly any country has any trust in politicians!

actually there is a pun in there... drift - wood.... lol
Woody why have you come on here to bore everyone senseless. Don't bother replying. I will nor read it.
From Friday, arrivals into Ireland have to take a lab-conducted antigen test or PCR test in before arrival - antigen option available only to the fully vaccinated, PCR required for unvaccinated or previously infected.
More countries might follow suit.
Let's face it, it's news and people will print anything with very little information.
We have to be patient and wait until we see a trend forming in countries that have a good vaccination take up.
P100 I wish I was naive enough to put all my faith and hope in to one South African doctor's comments.
South Africa are being negatively impacted by the travel ban plus the stigma associated with the variant. Makes sense to play it down.
In more positive news, it isn’t as bad as they first thought.

Beginning to think, everything this Gov does, is based on the price, now? Bet the other vaccines, were cheaper than AZ hence the change, same with the PCR's imo...
THIS WILL COME BACK AND RUIN POLITICAL CAREERS IF NOT DEALT WITH AND VERY SOON! IMO
AZ have just this minute confirmed that Omicron cannot escape THEIR vaccine.
Perhaps the real problem is just with the other vaccines................
* distribution
All the pharmas have said 100 days for new vaccine & that’s with accelerated approval testing etc then it has to get into distinction & peoples arms - 4-6 months easily
As I see it
at least 6 weeks till a tweaked vaccine
Moderna conceded that Omicron could evade existing vaccines
And Omicron was more transmissible than Delta
new pandemic? fewer fatalities, but people self-isolating, crippled economy
till the tweak jab goes in.

This would imply Omicron infecting exp(0.35*4.7)=5.2 times as many people [3.1x-9.1x] than Delta over the course of a single generation time of the virus (ca. 4.7 days)...
Vaccination rate in South Africa is 42 per 100. (UK is 168 per 100 ie many double-jabbed)
PS. I'd take large % changes with another pinch of salt - depends which number you start from e.g. increasing from 1 to 4.
Because it’s a discussion forum where in a democratic world all opinions can be discussed or are you going to tell us all what we can & cannot discuss? North Korea or China might be better for you with regimented suppressed opinions from the dictatorship. It’s a news article & my opinion is we will see this elsewhere so let’s see in a few weeks as the NHS cases fly up. If I’m wrong then I’m wrong & you can marvel in your glory of greatness.
@HKK - Omicron may or may not prove to be a major problem in the development of the Covid pandemic - we just don't know yet. I agree that we should be concerned. But to state unequivocally here that we should expect hospitalisations to soar by 330% globally is highly irresponsible. Even the tabloid link you've provided as tenuous support for your conjecture refers only to one province in SA.
You seem to be posting every negative article/angle you can find. Why?
Expect the same globally
