MV: "Well if they could get out of Goma, they would not be having to flee the Congo, the fighting is localised, the rest of the Congo is safe."
Have you ever been to the DR Congo? I suspect not. If you had (and I have been several times for work) you would know that it is a desperate place and there are multiple reasons why individuals would want to escape, not just the "localised" fighting around Goma which, if you cast your mind back just a few years, led to an unimaginable genocide within Rwanda ....which we have now deemed to be a safe country despite its president being a leader of the RPF.
Claiming the rest of the country "is safe" shows you have zero knowledge of what it is like there.
.."The Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) Simon Harris has asked Ireland's justice minister to bring legislation to cabinet to enable asylum seekers to be sent back to the UK.
Helen McEntee has revealed that 80% of recent arrivals to the Republic came from the UK across the Irish border.
Tánaiste (deputy prime minister) Micheál Martin said the UK's Rwanda policy was already impacting Ireland."
Will be interesting to hear Starmers opinion......
We are set yo rejoin the EU!

Market expectations for loosening in Europe and UK pushed back as US grapples with a hot economy. High rates for longer, coupled with buy backs could take this back to the swinging sixties.
Excellent, my oil shares up on Monday then, and 3i doing very well also, thank you.
$unak is said to be seriously considering calling it a day and defecting to labour, stabbing Starmer in the back and making up another 4 false promises, plus 1 extra that even he couldn’t feck up, ref. falling inflation following his own created inflation, for which he got together with all his banking bum chums and blamed it all on Truss, who was never in power. 😂
Russia hit energy infrastructure in Ukraine this morning - and Volodymyr Zelenskyy now says this could affect supply to the EU.
Did Ukraine ever supply gas in the first place? Gas up Inflation up lol
Yes Mick, utter panic now in tory ranks.
Tory -> Brext Reform UK
Naive and taken in by the enchanting words that press the right buttons!
Top Tory MP defects to Labour in fury at NHS crisis

$unak is said to be seriously considering calling a GE next week... got to get the paperwork in before the local election results?
Defection from tories to Labour.
Popcorn anyone?
Lords are all sponging self serving as sholes, Landlord Blair is the proof. I reckon Blair opened the Uk’s borders not only to fill his houses, but to fill Uk prisons with unstable immigrants, so he won’t get banged up himself for all his lies and war crimes etc.
STP
If Labour take power will you move to the UK? Or stay in your caravan in Spain? Or return to Ireland?
I would make tory MPs walk on hot coals, for what they have done to this country. I'm so excited about the Labour power sweeping to power soon, I can't contain myself!
Popcorn anyone?
MV,
You seem to think he is a rat... I think he is a rat leaving a sinking ship. The Tories are toast, and I would raise a glass to their demise if I was not teetotal.
Nomlungo
If the Doctor in question, cares so much about the health of the voters, why did he choose to become a member of the blood sucking establishment that we know as the political class?
How many lives can he protect/improve, sitting with another 649 spongers in the Commons, but that does fit the socialist profile. Talk the talk, but follow the easy money and buy your council house cheaply !
So many millionaires and Lords claiming to be people of the people for the people.
Penny Modaunt down to 10/1 to be next PM on Betfair... The market says she wants to cosplay as PM for a few months before she is voted out of office. Decent perks as well

Hardup.
The point I made about there being two Congo's was not directed at you as none of my other remarks were.
The African raising the hypothetical question should have made known to which one of the two he was from. That is he is from any of the two.
The questions have to be presented to he BBC for selection, as the audience is picked , so are the questions.
Years ago the programme was presented as being none partial and live, neither it turned was true, that is when I stopped watch it. It was strange that in which ever town or constituency the programme was aired from the audience always had a left wig bias. As I could see from your snippet things have not changed.
Nothing was aimed at yourself .
Lol, perhaps he wants to work even less hours as a GP under Labour. Useless tool.
How much money more money does he want poured into the gaping maw of the NHS? There's a good reason no other country in the world copies the NHS.
MV
I am fully aware there are 2 Congo's, the DRC and the Republic of Congo, and I agree with your comments re the BBC being biased, but not sure on your point about the questions being loaded to suit the BBC when the questions are from members of the public in the audience? But the point I was making was it is embarrassing for the Government when the Minister representing them on the programme did not know that Rwanda and the Congo are different countries.
'A Tory MP and former health minister has staged a dramatic defection to Labour, saying the Conservatives have become a “nationalist party of the right” that has abandoned compassion and no longer prioritises the NHS.'
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/apr/27/top-tory-mp-defects-to-labour-in-fury-at-nhs-crisis
The Tories have gone to the right just as they lost the righter leaning voters to Reform... A perfect lose-lose move. Will $unak call a GE on Monday?
Dr Poulter, Former Tory MP defects to Labour due to NHS under funding fiasco.
Shut the boats, sink the borders, live long & prosper 🖖
Hardup
I watched the link that you posted.
It confirmed a couple of things.
One, of the confirmations was that our MPs are of a low quality and that includes all, of them.
The other confirmation, was that the Question time programme, is and always has been biased and questions are loaded to suit the BBC and not the wider public.
The gentleman was putting an Hypothetical question, which to many may have sounded factual.
The question concerned the present localised fighting around the city of Goma, in the Congo (there are two Congo's by the way) close to the Rwandan border.
He asked that if his family arrived from Goma (now) as refugees would they be sent to Rwanda .
Well if they could get out of Goma, they would not be having to flee the Congo, the fighting is localised, the rest of the Congo is safe. Both nations called "Congo" are in Central Africa, surrounded by other African countries, why would they need to travel to the UK ?
Perhaps it is time we got some people in the right positions to set the right questions to these so called refugees.
Shut the borders, sink the boats. long live brexit
