R2000 Cheers mate!!
Completely agree Grippa
Not quite true Net outflows last year were Liontrust were £4.84 billion, which is from liontust website!! All investment companys suffered outflows last year!!!
Although all investors have been going to cash through recent high inflation turmoil, they still have 29 billion in active funds and when inflation drops they will come back!
Lastly How do you know GAM are a lost cause........ If they were losing to much money as you say why are other investment companys putting competing Bids to try and takeover GAM themselves.
I m fully awary asa with all companys not everythings rosey but if your going to be a critic best to be factual and not spout lies!!!!
Triple whammy of bad news
1. Assets under management reduced to £29 billion from £40 billion last year
2. Investors not investing in active funds ..Liontrust is a hopeless performer in active funds anyway
3. GAM are losing too much money to turn around..this is a vanity acquisition from a team desperate to show investors they are doing something which they are, they are destroying shareholder value..AVOID..
DYOR
Wont know until 24thfor definate but yes for sure if there not happy with our deal then walk a way and F em!!
I dont think it is a hostile bit though, GAM management and Fund managers are all wanting Liontrust to take over and have publicly encouraged shareholders to vote for liontrust to take them over. I dont fully understand how but there is risk involved as GAM losing money, which Liontrust say they have the strategy and Cash ready to make GAM breakeven. I would love to understand how they plan to do this, John Lions is experienced and great track record so far. I dont understand how they plan to turn GAM around but he obveously thinks it can be done! You walk away now and come back later there losses will be greater I m guessing. This is out of Liontrust hands now its down to weather or not GAM shareholders want to go with Liontrust, the other proposal they have has offered to buy so many of there shares but has not stated how they plan to fund or strategy to some GAM from losing money!!
They currently have in excess of 121 million in the bank I dont thionk this will be an issue........!!! Just an atempt at scare mongering on your part!! If you want to try and be a wise guy better do a bit research before hand!!
LIO will be picking up a huge bill for advisers' fees, if they win or lose. That will be payable in cash and probably trigger a dividend cut.
Anything is possible - the problem is that LIO has had more outflows than its peers.
Or perhaps we will see the sp leg-up on collapse of the deal?
Looks to me like this is unlikely to go through - but the question is whether it's a good entry point irrespective? Perhaps we'll see another leg down and then some consolidation once it's clear there's no deal?
Good mid-term buy with a huge dividend.
Hope you are right JDF.
Just topped up and doubled my modest holding to 1000
Share price hit a 52-week low today. I can't imagine it getting back to £20+ levels but I'd like to think it could reach £10+ in the not too distant future
I think it will go up, thats just my opinion though as less risk
What will happen to LIO Sp if the GAM takeover fails?
Decided to buy back in after seeing Jupiter's results yesterday.
This is now incredibly grim with no end in sight. One of several cyclicals I bought into about 2 years too early, at least
When is the question? To tempting today but see no reason to buy yet. If it drips towards 6 I will buy half of what I sold and then the rest is guesswork. Happy overall with investment which goes up and down like all equities.
I think until we see the outflow stablised this will just continue its downtrend. Possibly a div cut in the coming months
Sold yesterday as well at 720 making a loss mitigated slightly by divi . Disappointing investment for me
Glad I sold out at 710 with a small loss yesterday. 690 was broken so looks like the next support will be 600 now.
From the RNS, it looks like everyone is deserting equity funds - now then do we heed Warren Buffet's advice at this time or not. Liontrust themselves by buying GAM at this point look to be. I'm hovering over the buy button.
Hi guys dose the fact Lionstrust shares have dropped considerably mean they will be more diluted than they woud of been had the shapre price stayed up at £13 ??
Maybe a good time to top-up, Sheepy. But maybe not. Hard to decipher between the stock-specific and wider market factors. That said, I'm thinking it has a good way further to drop on both counts in the near term
