Topped up at 233.5, far too much of a drop IMO. This was 255p yesterday dinner time and its not like the ex-div has come as a surprise. Hopefully a nice sustained rise back to were we was on the positive wider macroeconomic landscape we are currently experiencing. GL all
No hurry here, this will be "cheaper" yet, put it on watch and relax !
I'll just put it away now. If drops lower top up. Missed getting in ex divi date at a reasonable price.
Thanks all for responses.
Auguste - if you buy on or after the ex-dividend date you will not receive the dividend. Fact.
Me too
First time buyer 🙂
Me too
The ex-dividend date or "ex-date" is usually one business day before the record date. Investors who purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. Rgds, S
Thing is , this will be a very underperforming in the coming months as this was the largest portion of the dividend, next is the piddly one so may even waite it out until they get dirt cheap, my thinking is they will lose 15% on a bad day from from yesterday close, if not im not bothered as will just sit on the fence
If everyone buys back in now the SP will pop back up. Just topped up myself. Who is with me!
I refer you to the lgen website. This states the ex-dividend date is 25/04/24 and be record dates is 26/04/24. See https://group.legalandgeneral.com/en/investors/financial-calendar
Phyl, there's a good chance that this will drop a lot lower over the next few weeks, as it sometimes does, that is why I made the comment, why top up today
I usually hold like yourself, but had my reasons this time as I explained
Best of luck mate
Nope - it is trading ex dividend, i.e without the dividend portion of the share. Hence why LGEN is down 6% today - good opportunity to buy though if you are a long long..!
Go ex divs today, doubt it
No
No had to be holding at close yesterday gla holders regards jack
No, 'fraid not.
No, the dividend is payable to people owning the share yesterday.
By the way, my strategy is to re-invest the dividends which is exactly what I've done. This strategy helps bring down the average cost per share. Only really works for those keeping hold of em. Not for day traders obviously.
Bought today at £2.32 - do I get the dividend?
Good morning Rob, I can understand anyone buying on the drop. I've done it myself, but I can't understand anyone selling on the drop. Sell either side of ex-div when the SP tends to be higher. Undoubtedly, the SP will recover its drop today over time. It always does.
Lam, why would you buy on the morning it's gone exdiv ?
25k bought. The rest holding for divi, but jeeze its dropped a fair bit.
Final Ex-Dividend Date 25-Apr-2024
Final Dividend Payment Date 06-Jun-2024
Gotcha & thanks.
Apologies to thecumbrian.
