The main information missing from the debate is the identity of the vendor. Strange it has still not been disclosed despite the fact that the contract has been signed? What have KAV to gain from holding back on such basic details? It only adds to the suspicion that they are not open honest and transparent. It also leads to pointless speculation as we are now seeing.
That was the point being made FKC.
Which is why I was curious to clarify with the person who made the statement exactly what they'd (Chinese) had done on 'this' (Nara) project. I couldn't find anything specific and wondered what they could share.
It turned out they then said it was an opinion.
Nothing wrong in contrary opinion of course, just not dressed as facts.
Everyone knows their are horror stories and geographical risk in Zim. Albeit it seems to not be quite like it was, we'll have to wait and see what comes next.
Nara is a side project for me ATM. Anything positive will be a bonus. Thankfully KAV didn't commit wild cash at the option and ultimately they can walk away after the exploration commitment if desired/needed.
I'll pay more attention to it after more news and if the option is exercised.

And I think the response is that that point only has any validity if it turns out “the Chinese” have recently attempted to make a go of the Nara project. That is the information missing from this debate
I thought the point being made was that if the Chinese could not make a go of it despite their ruthlessness what makes us think KAV can do any better?
Good job we're not a Chinese company then.
Some Chinese company or companies have treated people poorly when mining gold in the same district. Presumably the problem was the companies involved, rather than the area itself?
A generic search of “Matabeleland gold mines Chinese” brings up an assortment of horror stories including forced evictions and cold blooded murder. Really does look like the “Wild West” out there.
Yawn Swakop, that is all.
Which historical mines is KAV looking at?
If the "literally making stuff up" is reference to my eariler post, sharing my genuine opinion based on knowledge, about the involvment of Chinese in Zims Au projects, and my refusal to reveal detail and sources etc., then please retract.
Because I have a 4-decades long association with the country and many of the Au mining projects, plus lots of Zimbo pals who are able to speak when asked, doesn't mean I need to spill all my beans on a message board seemingly stuffed with rampers who appear to celebrate the classic pump and dump we just witnessed...
Of course you could have been speaking about someone else, in which case fair enough.
GLTAH, will keep an eye out for some proper detail on the project and what KAV expect it to bring their shareholders of benefit, till then, nichts of interest. Hopefully not even more dusters being drilled down in the KSZ like lasty time, and Dave C on the money with KCB...
Thanks to F79 for taking the time to pin that point down. If those of you who are doing so could stop literally making stuff up, that would be great.
Stan,
My views are my views. They aren't in defense of the company or to save my investment lol. I share my genuine opinion.
I've said openly my uncertainty about a further acquisition. I'm still uncertain for the reasons I've said before but at least the capital exposure from the RNS isn't too vast.
While I do understand the strategic intent behind it, I remain to be convinced about the deal until we know more.
Maybe focus on your own investments bud. You need to.

Give Fukurokuju79 credit, he is trying his best to defend Kavango.
He clearly thinks consistently defending the company on a message board will save his investment
Have a nice Thursday 29th June
Yes RNS is light ATM in terms of the project vendor and recent history etc.
You said the Chinese could not make this project work and so what chance do the geniuses at KAV have. Which sounded fairly specific and factually presented.
I'd therefore discounted the DYOR, IMHO tagged at the end of the post. As I associate those more with the opinion elements, rather than a coverall.
So basically there is no known failure of the chinese to make this project work. At this stage.
Thanks. Atb
To be fair, and without meaning to be a smart a*rse I also said "IMHO" and "DYOR"... :)
RNS seems a bit light on detail...
IMHO of course. GLTAH. Still seeing nichts to tempt...
Swak, you said this project, so Nara .Please do share re Chinese and this project.
Both.
Are you talking generically about the Chinese in Zimbabwe or about a specific mining project?
"I think PJ at POW said something about early tailings revenue at their Tati project. It never materialised and in fact not heard any more about it since. I hope this is more genuine, and isn't going to be a case of taking something from the book of ramps, and adopting it for KAV.
I do think it sounds genuine."
Interesting, Legalwolf.
IME the Tati project was always marginal, and unlikely to materialise into anything significant. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge of Tati gold exploration over the last 40 years would have known the POW projects were hype. Bots is open, and you can easily see through the guff of promoters. Anyone suggesting shipping tails over the border being even a remote possibility should probably seek professional help.
Zims is more complex. Guff can be hidden better. However, given it's recent history, one really needs to ask what can KAV bring that the Chinese have not already done? Anyone with a modicum of African experience will know the answer is along the lines of "SFA". If the Chinese could not make this project work, what is the chance that the geniuses running KAV can do so?
Having just spotted that pump and dump, I'd still be very wary of ever investing in KAV again.
But DYOR, AIMHO, and I could be wrong, but regardless GLTAH!
Classic pump and dump? No, there really, really is merit in what these folks are up to....!
Can you please forward me an ounce of what you're smoking?
For Stan who brought up the subject of "mud" first:
"Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood
So follow me follow, down to the hollow
And there let me wallow in glorious mud"
From Flanders and Swan "The Hippopotamus"
hTTtps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zpDF3Py7r8
Ask yourself what are 99% of tailings?
The answer is mounds of mud.
Then ask yourself what is purebonds previous connection to the exploration vendors in this area, what has happened previous, what are some of the KAV staffs links to this area, keep researching, never give up until you start to join the dots.
Is KAV pretty much over as a serious investment?
It’s certainly a good place for the shorters.
Legal, I don't think anyone other than PB can meaningfully answer the question 'Do we think Zimbabwe is reason that PB have invested. Or is their interest more to do with Botswana?'
However, the pragmatist in me personally assumes that they wouldn't put that much money into KAV on the basis of a Zimbabwean option that needs a bit more work. That it's more likely they like the prospectivity in the Bots assets within KSZ/KCB. 🤷♂️

After false drop imo
Would be helpful in that but would keep the lights on and reduce the need for further funding / dilution.
