What does everyone expect from the Roadshow, if anything, I was not in this share tthe time of the shareholder events last year so I do not know what to expect. Not sure if there is any sgnificance in the time of the first roadshow.
ThisTimeNextYeer In relation to yor 20.53 post from yesterday your friend is right. According to the Belfast Harbour website the Stena Adventurer is expected into the Dry Dock at 09.17 tomorrow. It is not showing how long she will be staying I will check lunchtime tomorrow. I am not sure why I did not notice it before.
Stokey, Im told by a friend who works in the docks that Stena Adventurer is next in dry dock, and its due in on Sunday or Monday coming.
I cant find any info on this though and its not on the NI Ferry Facebook page either.
My chum's not usually wrong though with his info, so fingers crossed we'll see Adventurer in H & W in the coming days.
droderick- I was being a little naughty, just to pass the time. :-)
Why do you say that Tango?
The ML is only a small part of the project that has frankly been blow way out of proportion. There is the EPC element, grid tie-in, reversal, tariffs across the Interconnector (both forward flow and reverse), entry into and exit from the gas network and a plethora of other commercial agreements to be negotiated and executed.
If JW and team are focussed on acquiring the ML, I am sure the new project manager is not sitting on his hocks. Given his background he would have been around the block a few times so knows exactly what next steps need to be undertaken.
I don't think any of these activities are worthy of an RNS - but work still goes on.
Well the new project manager has a cushy job at the minute :-)
Quite right Stokey!
droderick In relation to your 13.17 post and the artile you provided a link for one thing I noted was that RFA Victoria will need a refit to extend its life. I am not sure how long it is but what we might see is H&W getting the contract to do the refit as the other yards are fully booked up. I doubt such a refit will come cheap.
I fully agree with the comments.
My simple mind works as follows: On the assumption that H&W were to get a sub-contract of as low as 10% of the value, that's £120 million. That's for the fabrication work. Top that with the physical capability to assemble the ships which only Belfast has plus sea trials and final delivery.
I dare not presume anything or put any numbers against these incremental items but the potential is staggering. Right time, right place, right team and right strategy. Indeed, all to play for.
With Navantia apart of our team the Capitol may not be an issue, but I rather H&W had swollen coffers also.
BJ will start "levelling up".
Just to add I am still showing 'Hold'.
Great post droderick I totally agree with you now all to play for its just a matter of INFA building up both bases to be 'Contract Ready' & have a firm financial base to be trusted that they can deliver when it comes to the 'Bidding Stage'.
I was reading with a lot of interest the analysis of the FSS programme as provided below:
https://www.savetheroyalnavy.org/fleet-solid-support-ships-for-the-royal-navy-to-be-built-in-britain/
This is effectively now a two horse race between Team UK and Team Resolute. When I look at the build and the parties involved in more detail, it occurs to me that even if Team UK were to win the tender, they just do not have a capacity to build these vessels with both Bab**** and BAE tied up to their eyeballs with the T31 and T26 programmes respectively.
My sense is that regardless of who wins the tender, there will be a substantial amount of work that will be sub-contracted to H&W, both in Belfast and Appledore. These are the only two yards that have the physical size and fabrication capability to deliver these vessels on time and on budget.
The award might come in only next year but I do firmly believe that H&W are now firmly embedded in this contract.
If anybody subscribes to the telegraph can they post the rest of this article https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/10/23/supporting-royal-navy-battle-british-shipbuilding/
The FSS game should start in the spring so in the mean time what is there going to be from JW's creativity?
Just came across this nothing new in it https://www.pesmedia.com/fleet-solid-support-ships-contract-22102020/
I honestly do believe these VIP visits are a good sign too Tango and the most significant one was Boris at Appledore. Boris' ego and credibility would take a dent if Appledore didn't get something after his fanfare. I don't think he'd put himself in a position for that to happen.
Another link below from Afloat.ie on Appledore and potential MOD work.

Stokey, Nationality grounds is the point, so why risk it.
TTNY agree with the sentiment but babs yards are full so why would the contract go to them when there are southcoast and N irish yards needing work. I honestly think it is a no brainer that H&W are going to get the FSS contracts, with all the VIP's visiting them the last few months, they will undoubtedly want to put them on a pedastle. AIMHO DYOR
You're right Stokey about challenges if independence was seen to affect the decision, but there's absolutely NO way on this earth that the government will openly say that it did. They won't even hint that it did (even if it did). It would open such crazy can of worms and would be political suicide for the Tories if this was said.
Tango1 In relation to your 15.15 post you have to remember that the tender will be awarded to the bidder not to the scottish government so as I see it then question of independence is immaterial. Also if it can be proved that considerations of independence affected then decision on the tender that would leave the tener decision open to legal challenge on rationality grounds.
Your 15.13 point is a very good one Tango if Bojo feels Scotland will definitely leave. The other side of the coin though is if Bojo thinks he can keep Scotland on side. He might then just feel he could reduce the chances of, or even delay independence by sending some contract work up north to quieten Nicola for a while.
Stokey, my point is, why would the UK government want to bolster production/manufacturing in Scotland by giving them Multi billion pound contracts, when Scotland (SNP) are hell bent on leaving the UK.
Tango1 In relation to your 14.21 post I am not sure how it would help the scottish government as they would only recieve the tax reciepts from the company assuming that it is a scottish based company. Also .as the scottish government is running a deficit as I understand it there is the question as to whether they would be able to afford to spend billions on defence
While I am at it, would it help Scotland's efforts to be independent of England if they gained big contracts to help self sufficiency and would it be in the governments best interest of keeping the united kingdom united to do so?
TTNY, I would say we are 70/30 as the government is set on LEVELING UP. Bab have enough/more than enough work for the next ten years, what has H&W got in relation???? easy levelling up exercise for BJ. AIMHO
