That they have locked the tech off spec wise pre production means they must be confident it works. Without out speciifics on output capacity and charging time its difficult to gauge how excited to be. But I can't see any way they would have taken this step unless they had some genuine performance advantage from solid state ( other than the obvious safety benefit) . I have aways thought the " big money " here is in the Goliath side of the business . They also wouldn't have locked off the tech unless they were inside customer spec expectations. A long term play but a positive and important step today methinks
One would like to think that prior to the award of the grant that there was some kind of external scrutiny that sees some kind of long term sucess. I have always thought its the EV batteries where the big money resides so fingers crossed they can get this to a point where they can sub licence etc to monetise the large solid state cells.
For a Monday morning.

Goliath had better get a move on -

Another issue nobody has yet mentioned is that Ilika's batteries need to be re-charged. The batterty might be small but the energy harvester surely has a much larger footprint. I've not seen Ilika talk about the energy harvesters. Why? Anybody?
Just bought in here as solid state is a definite for the future and IKA already have a product that the market has snapped up. More important than this small beginning is the credibility that comes with it.
As he said more news to look forward to in the coming months i.e. Goliath 👍
Could, yet.
herd is looking around again, now that COPL hasn't bagged again in the first 30 mins! : )
Hasn't happened yet.
Agreed. i don't like that there's no actual value to the deal. and i'm still head scratching about the manufacturing and IKA's plant. until there are some sales this is... just an agreement and have to wait until 2023 to see what it's worth. (imo)
Cirtec deal ain't that good. I believe first business lesson is never, ever grant exclusivity to just one company. Also no upfront cash element or licence fee as far as I can see. Ilika just saved themselves some cash by out sourcing. Share price will probably get a bounce higher by the headline however.
10 year deal with Cirtec medical. Well done
Did anyone ask at the recent investor meets where the sales forecast set in the presentation a few years back disappear to? Those forecasts seem to have gone up in smoke. Is that the real reason Ilika is trying to transfer operations to Cirtec ?

According to the Faraday Institution, the UK’s independent body for research into battery technology
extract from article below
The quantity of raw materials required to power Britain’s green economy is daunting. According to the Faraday Institution, the UK’s independent body for research into battery technology, by 2040 Britain will need 175,000 tonnes per annum of nickel, some 130,000 tonnes of refined lithium and 25,000 tonnes of cobalt. Across the planet, it is estimated that raw materials worth some £4.6trn will need to be sourced in the coming decades to power the shift to cleaner energy, with China currently refining anywhere between half and nearly all of key minerals including lithium, cobalt and manganese.
