This has been very quiet for a while but charts look like something is going to happen soon. Question is up or down - does anyone have any thoughts, 'cos I can't find anything.

OK - what have I missed? This is some fall, especially against the market today.

Oh dear. Odd that it fell yesterday - almost as if people new these in advance. Words of hope re the Japanese developments - but one has heard these for a long time. Will continue to hold - but somewhat regret adding.Oh well.

Come on someone - explain how on trades of 948 shares this "apparently" falls by close to 4%!

All buys - the last, on of three 10000, @46p. Final sp - down . .Who knows what goes on here.
Inspired? If only! Impossible to understand this share - as for predicting!! How does one make sense of the movement today?
FB, looks like your recent purchase was inspired! I’m crossing everything that we are on a superhighway to days of old.
With apologies for the grammer. I can, just about, undertsand 10,000 @ 52p but 2 at 53p!
Last post: Folderboy, 9 Mar 2023 09:01
Indeed - so what was that buying and unusual price movement (unusual in that it was upwards!) all about? Maybe just my being overly optimistic.
Yep, pretty much steady as she goes! Still a decent dividend and cautious optimism for the future, so looks like I’ll stick around a while longer!
Well - sort of OK - no more sort of damp squid. Business as, nearly back to, normal with hope for the future.

Weds, 12:50: Three reasonable buys, actually for this share fairly large. People taking gamble on an announcement tomorrow? In the know? Maybe just taking a gamble!
So I guess that means there are, at least, two of us awaiting interims on Thursday with interest/hope and TREPIDATION.
An interesting finish to the day FB! At this rate I might join you with an additional purchase. A share which has done nothing for so long - apart from decline! yet still produces a decent divi, has attracted consistent chunky purchases over the past days.
Well looks like I should have waited longer - and then stayed out! A very strange week though. Substantial buys - a steady rise and then down we go - without any real sell off. Was ever thus?
Yep me too. Wierd. I haven’t given up completely that something might be coming, before it retraces!

this is a good article,
https://www.fool.co.uk/2021/12/20/is-this-9-8-high-yielder-right-for-me/
I have held these shares since 2016 and seen the share price go down and down, only the high dividend has kept me here in the hope the share price would recover. But if they can't increase their profit the dividend may be cut again.
If the yield goes down again there won't be a reason to hold these shares.

I hope you didn’t buy all at once? As should always try build positions over time with a nice spread, helps for the drops. Also spread across other shares too, help mitigate losses, it just depends what your target and ambitions are?
Age isn’t relative to the destination, but understand as you feel your time is constrained I would suggest being decisive in your direction and how far you travel.
I have the patience and a fair few of these >150,000 - not sure I have the time (now in my 70s!)
No reason I can see, especially since director bought 17000@56p july2021. I’d assume just general movement of sells, someone offloading? Maybe add more soon as I own 15000 shares here. But I wouldn’t worry too much, wait a few years and I’m sure you’ll be very happy if you have the patience.
Looks like I made a bad decision - certainly poor timing. Anyone able to enlighten me as to the reason for this steady, continuing drop?
I have recently added (substantially, well for me it was). However I am finding it hard to be sure about this RNS. Suspect it's steady as she goes but much does seem to rest on Japan being able to come out of the current Covid situation and I see little sign of that happening. Guess the market will give me an opinion in a few minutes time.

Had quite a scare this morning. Looking through Yahoo Finance data they had HSD down nearly 70% to just 22p. A frantic cross-check to other sites quickly showed this was wrong! But even now, despite correcting the current price by mid-afternoon, they've still got this dramatic dip and bounce back on their daily graph as though it was for real. That said, Yahoo was still better than the Financial Times Porftolio today, which suddenly had my cash total about 20% too high. Rapid checking showed it had wrongly increased the number of shares I hold in each company by about one-fifth. Just shows how widely these Internet glitches can spread their effects...

£1 a share would be lovely to get back to. Who knows, but it feels like we’re on a pleasant journey at the moment. I remember the lovely view from the heady heights of £1.40’s Would be nice to go back there. Let the journey at accompanying 7% yield continue.
the rise has to be someone building a stake in the company. If its sold to someone or taken private I would like £1 a share but would settle for £0.80, thats a good profit for me. Maybe an RNS will be out in a few weeks to show a rise in stake or no one is selling......
Yes sure feels like something. Ownership is pretty interesting: 48.78% owned by Polonsky family members & their foundation. Premier Miton also in their with 5.31% (since Nov'19). Maybe there is light at the end of the litigation tunnel which has dragged on - those things always end of getting settled/sorted & the company has been planning for such. So I'm putting in another £5k. The dividend has been solid through all the ups (not many!) and downs, which is some comfort.
Not complaining but would be nice to know what is behind this, fairly sustained, rise.
Seems like something good is brewing. I wonder what...

if you look at number of trades it takes very few to raise the price as
not a largely traded share compared to say Lloyds with ups and downs daily
more of a longer stable holding with the divi playing a large part i suspect
good prospect going forward hopefully
own opinion so
dyor
best wishes
Here I am replying to myself - added on the 22nd and a fair few more this morning. Amazed to see a 12% rise - wish I could always be so wise before the event. However - I would be happier if I knew why it has risen so much today - I mean why today?
Suspect I will have to answer myself later
Guess who added a few earlier today? Say no more. Not sure it fully explains the fall though.

Pleased to see the rise - has this been mentioned somewhere - I mean 7 trades already!!

I took most off the table just before X dividend date ... bought half back with an average of 33.55p making 36.15 to include the dividend not received so that's a net profit of around 8% from the selling price excluding the juicy dividend.
;)
HSD are doing what UK banks probably regret doing .... not challenging consumers thinking there is free lunch being self employed and sacking yourself to get PPI.
The endless litigation proceedings are what's not to like. I will take years to get through them all. Only then will the share price go up. The business model is too slow to increase profit and revenue quick enough on its own.
Cash up Profit up dividend maintained ....
2.65p a share dividebd declared ... business going pretty well under the circumstances .... what is not to like ?
Last post: Alpharius, 9 Jul 2020 09:56
Is there any hope for this share? Price just keeps going down and with the stock markets all scared of endless corona lockdowns will the company continue to make money?
If the dividend is cut again then the price could go below 20p.
I was hoping for a return to above 50p by now.

Excellent results in these testing times I like how they see no reason to stop paying the dividend, I dont care if the stock price stays down here forever if the money keeps rolling in.

I saw a Hansard advert next to the mens toilet at Ronaldsway airport on the Isle of Man. really? How much is that costing?? A waste of my investment money. And GM, you know who you are SPENDING too much on your expenses. Can't you just eat a sensible meal instead of all those posh meals? And I understand you 'claim' the 'tip' for your meals via expenses. REALLY?? GET REAL YOURE RIPPING OFF A ONCE GREAT COMPANY!!!!!

The endless legal disputes against Hansard Europe must be costing the company serious money, they just keep coming. The newest in Italy of over £5 million. Good that the comapny won a £6 million case in Belgium but the case is likely to be appealed. With slow growth in revenue the company needs to get these cases out of the way for share price recovery.

There are moving their product jurisdiction out of the Isle of Man which introduces commission disclosure in Jan 2019.
A drop of 10p in one week with the new floor at 66p, what went wrong here and what is the lowest it will go?

Update shows not much of change here, its waiting game to see if Hansard's new products deliver more money over the long term, I don't expect any short term change in the share price. Dividend worth 5% at 0.8 a share though. Holding for the next decade.
