CK Infrastructure Holdings, a shareholder in gas and electricity businesses run by Li’s eldest son Victor, invested recently in the hydrogen private equity fund HYCAP, according to a statement from the Hong Kong-based company sent to Bloomberg News.
Earlier this year, the investment firm of the senior Li, 93, bought stakes in Syzygy Plasmonics and H2Pro, two producers of the gas, as well as a start-up for powering airplanes with it.
Renewable hydrogen is becoming an increasingly popular energy option as more nations and businesses seek to cut carbon emissions.
The market for it in the utilities industry could be worth about US$12 trillion by 2050, according to research from Goldman Sachs Group last year.
“We are of the view that hydrogen will be of significant importance in decarbonising energy and transport systems,” Andrew Hunter, CK Infrastructure’s deputy managing director.’’

Representatives from Northern Ireland’s three largest employers in the defence and shipbuilding sector will be questioned by MPs on how to attract more defence spending to Northern Ireland.
Ben Murray, Chief of Staff and Corporate Affairs at Harland and Wolff
David McCourt, Director of Strategy at Thales
Nick Laird, Managing Director, European Space and Defence at Spirit AeroSystems
MPs are likely to ask panelists from Thales, Harland & Wolff, and Spirit AeroSystems about opportunities for the Ministry of Defence to support NI firms and the challenges of securing the skills the defence and security sector needs.
Northern Ireland has one of the lowest defence procurement and services spend in the UK, at just £100 per head compared with £380 in Scotland.

Scaffman ref 11.57 post The Buyer Finance Solutions which are shown on the link I provided are the ones I was referencing in my post. They are separate from the Export Development Guarantee Scheme that HARL has applied for.
I had thought the Export Credit Finance for customers was linked to a company that had qualified for the UKEF scheme.
If the UKEF is still a work in progress can this facility be used yet?
BT That's a positive update on progress. tks
This from Cruise Industry News shows that HARL will be getting more free adevertising https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2024/04/villa-vie-residences-launches-docuseries-on-youtube/m There is already a film crew documenting the refit of the SeaRose now the Braemar. I suspect that the SeaRose documentary will be of higher quality.
I have worked out why there was some confusion over the arrival of the Braemar as there was a suggestion that the Braemar was arriving in May. On checking it would seem that there may be two ships called Braemar.
Well , all I can say is, having seen the outstanding paint job Harl did on MAS , I think the final paint job might look considerably more professional. Must be a legal requirement to sail under registered name and hence the make do from Rosyth to Belfast job. I don't doubt that JW will receive pyt, bit difficult to escape dry dock without assistance 😉
Dawski37 ref 08.57 post In relation to the point about making sure that HARL will get paid as can be seen from here https://www.ukexportfinance.gov.uk/products-and-services/ Export Credit Finance have a number of solutions to finance Villa Vie Residences contractual payments. I am sure that JW will have persuaded them to use one of these so as to ensure that he will get paid. The same would apply to the Islander and probably to the SeaRose which has an interesting ownership.
Dawski37 ref 08.57 post Is this then video you are referring to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cNuFx2JFWE the title is not the same but it seems like it is.
Apparently there is a YouTube video called “ Part 1 Captain Georgios “ going around with some tedious dialogue and certain interesting shots especially over the rather delicate method of painting over of the name “Braemar” . Need someone to copy and paste here. I just hope that JW has a full pre-docking payment and certainly full cover before she leaves .
Merchantman and Masterman tugs guiding Braemar into dock.
The delay is to allow a storm coming through to pass and there will be five stops to save fuel on the trip. Ship is running well with no problems….
Tiredhands ref17.44 post These days the lead contractor does not build all of a ship. In factb I believe that Appledore hasbeen sub contracted to do parts for the T26 as well.
Evidently T26 not entirely built by BAE...
