Ant you are very welcome. I know what its like and I too appreciated some help when I started a good few years ago. I would change the broker IMO of course and remember to set limits to buy or sell.
Have a good w/e

Jim Hi, LOL :-))
TomE you are very kind thanks for your advice, it is a big jump which should not happen. Will probably have to put it down to experience but will also look at changing my broker. Just glad I didn't go in big. Thanks again
Wish you had.
Hi Ant and i am sorry your trade did not go through as you wanted. Not giving any advise but have a look at ii and this link, it might give you further thought. The difference charged from 4.30 to 4.58 is a large leap and IMO out of order when you thought you would pay 4.30. Not right IMO.

Anyway this SP will rise soon and you will not lose out.

Tom :-)
TomE I use Trading 212 but never had this before I have emailed them and phoned but still no contact at all coming back.
archways my broker does normally put through at best never known this before, sharkface and tom_the_bomb yes I am sure it will be okay in a few weeks, just very disappointing when this happens and can be costly too in this volatile time.
Thank you all anyway.
May I add the next time set a "LIMIT sell or Buy" for the day. Bit late now but In Ant's case set a BUY limit at 4.30 and that's what it will go at. These can be cancelled at any time before the trade goes through. This is the 2nd time I have seen this happen in two days, never before. Speaking to the broker now maybe a waste of time, they appear not to have traded in Ants favor at all ??. Try a different broker I use ii Interactive investor and have never had any problems with them.
Have a great W/E all.
Tom :-)
Thansk for those explanations. Need to get my reading material up to date for this qurantine - I've had 'simple bbut not easy' on my shelf for years and never got round to reading it.
Ant
4.58 mite not of been what you wanted but i'm sure you have dyor before buying into ggp and know fully well this is due to rocket. Not long till the new on the 30th and i'm sure you'll see your return.

Your 10,000 order must have gone through the Uncrossing Trade process at 2 o'clock, when a total of 12,504 shares were put through at 4.575. Between 11am and 2pm the highest price paid was from memory about 4.45 (you can check via the link on MFU's post at 13.20), so your broker hasn't dealt at best he has left it to the UT. We saw two or three days ago that 4.8 was put through at 4.30pm when the spread was more like 4.2-4.6. Did you specifically ask for the shares at best, or is it that your broker only puts deals through at the next UT?
Sorry - I have just noticed an error about half way down my post at 13.50. 0.2 out one way would have given 4.48-4.6 or 4.5-4.62, not 4.52-4.6 or 4.5-4.62. It has been a long time since I was buying or selling for clients!
MDC1 & Archways great posts lads.!
Well everyone guess what yes my order has been filled and yes you probably guessed it, I put the order in almost 3 hours ago for 10,000 @ 4.30 and it was filled for 4.58 so am already down :( have tried phoning yet again but alas no chance. Just thought I would update you all.
By the London Stock EXchange in consultation with the Market Makers who request to make markets in the stock. they can move the NMS either up or down depending on the liquidity of the stock and daily volume. but to move it they must request in writing to the LSE and give 24 hour notice that its changing. or thats what used to happen it may have changed since my time but i,m sure its not far wrong.
you are correct archways the 300000 is the NMS Nominal Market Size for greatland your explanation is a little bit more advanced than I thought I needed to explain I too am from the Broking world and an ex MM (please dont expel me from the board) I was trying to simplify my answer in order that smaller buyers and sellers dont get ripped off.
If your order is less than the NMS OF 300000 then the MM must execute the trade at the market or better....
Thanks MDC1 - but how is that figure derived? I mean we have 3.6 billion shares and another 0.6 billion, but how is that 300,000 figure determined? Thanks for the help.
MDC1
I am not sure that you are correct in saying that a market maker must deal in 300,000 (in the case of Greatland) if your order is for more than that number.
When I was a stockbroker many years ago in the days when all deals were done over the phone, if the client's order was for more than the market size you would phone a market maker and ask what he would quote for more. If the quoted spread was say 4.5 - 4.6 he might say 0.2 out in 400,000 one way. He would not know whether you were buying or selling, and you would not know whether he was prepared to deal in 400,000 at 4.52-4.6 or 4.5 to 4.62. You could say thanks very much I will try elsewhere, and you would then see whether someone else might quote you, for example, 0.1p out one way. You might be lucky and find that another market maker might quote you 0.1p out in 400,000, so in effect his price is 4.49-4.61 in up to 400,000 irrespective of whether you were buying or selling, and you could decide to deal with that market maker. The first market maker was therefore not required to deal in the market size of 300,000 shares.
ManFromUruguay done nothing different my buy was around 11.15 and it still not gone through. Phoned them about 6 times now and keep getting cut off with them saying email us which I have done. Mine was for 10,000 @ 4.30 but as I said it is still processing. Thanks anyway MFU
Ant is this yours:-
Apr 3 2020, 12:52 4.40 10,000 4.25 4.50 Buy £440.00
ok fella did you do anything differently to what you did previously ? If no then I would ring up. If limited service due to CV then try and cancel as TomE suggested and try again. An order for 10k shares did go through around 11 am but it looked like a sell at 4.22 however it looks like a buy has gone through at 12.52 for 10,000 at 4.4p -that could be it ? GL MFU
This is the link I use to check trades https://www.sharesmagazine.co.uk/shares/share/GGP/trades
antmoss it is slightly odd that you have experience in buying and selling bank shares based on your previous posts and so not sure how you have not got to grips with this transaction ?? MFU
ManFromUruguay how am I supposed to get to grips with this order, I have sent a contact form, phoned them and emailed them can you tell me what else I can do to get to grips with it.
