This is the saddest demise of a company I have seen in terms of what it stood for and was in position to achieve from an environmental perspective and what it's now pivoting to along with total long term shareholders obliteration

Highly recommend the tv drama on this week with Jason Watkins powerful but tragic events as a result of one particular UK water company being heavily involved with Macquarie bank who rinsed it for every penny. A couple of decades on they are still at it as Element has articulated so well on here.

Absolutely smashed it out the park old Shaunie when the interviewer asked about the impact of tariffs on Greatlands ability to fund the huge Hav project. Well actually no impact as it's all locally sourced and the processing plant infrastructure is already in place 40kms up the road so it's just the hole in the ground to take care of locally!! Brilliant 🙋🏽‍♂️😉🎉

Whilst not out and out "bad news" this is certainly disappointing. Its a,resignation not a retirement or it would have said. It leaves a question mark as to why a prominent person who has been part of the transformation would leave with the company flourishing? Asx down again may or may not be related but its bound to provoke some questions

MH01 I remember challenging you on a statement you made stating something like 20 or even 25p old money by April 25 which was a huge ramp!!

You revised it to 25p/£5 by xmas and fair play you were correct. To say you were ridiculed is a little harsh. People on these boards should be able to challenge statements like yours in a healthy and respectful way just because I didn't agree with your April 25 forecast doesn't mean we cant engage on an ongoing basis

It's been a brilliant 2025 I am quietly confident 2026 will be Sp and company positive although I am hoping for £6.50/7 at some point in the year

Hi Unknighted I was looking at it from a SH perspective and in fact in the last 12 months both companies have grown from 6p to 28p meaning the monetary return for investors in both despite the fundamentals being very different would be identical...hope that clarifies my point 🙋🏽‍♂️😉

One of the more well documented comparisons even rivalries you could say has been GGP v Solg and incredibly despite a totally different journey with many ups and downs both sit at c 28p

It looks like that might be the end of the race for Solg imo due to poor management and less attractive jurisdiction even though their assets are world class. Ggp has proven that with lesser assets but greater management and location has the unlimited potential

Still hold a small holding in Solg but sad at the final outcome although not bad was nowhere near what it could have achieved

I wonder now if Northern Star might have a tinge of regret at going for Degreys instead of GGP & Telfer ??!!

Yes Jerry is correct in that £2880 net is £3600 grossed up with tax relief

However the annual gift allowance is £3000 net for IHT purposes (you can also go back 1 tax yr if unused )

Thanks for the heads up Bamps I know you will have posted this in good faith. I wouldn't get to know these weather changes without proactively researching so your update has given me the opportunity to "make a more informed decision " as to slice a few more or hold.

I also respect that the updates over the weekend might have led to changing your stance on holding 100% and therefore I again respect your honesty and transparency.

I do also respect the likes of E1 Jerry who felt it might have been better "unsaid" together ie top slicing a few and a risk to production in Q2.

Let's all support each others views I truly believe no mal intention here (have met Bamps and E1) and have nothing but respect for them

Can I ask was the 30yr annuity a way of getting around the new sipp Iht that will be forced on us in 2027. Is it one of the few routes left now? If any one else knows, let me know please."

Unfortunately it doesn't bypass the new IHt rules because it has a 30 yr guarantee however the formula for IHt value appears better than a straight cash value in a Sipp. However the main priority was to secure a guaranteed income for my life (I am 58) and even if I outlive the 30 yrs it will pay it only stops at 30 yrs if I have popped my clogs (88 years old is a decent time and will double my annuity purchase)

Do it is a part of my overall planning. The beauty is I still have my beloved GGP shares and a remaining Sipp and Isa pot nearly all thanks to GGP

Great work E1 thanks to yourself and others I have been sleeping more easily for some time. In the summer I banked some profit to buy myself a 30 yr guaranteed annuity which continues after I pop my clogs to the Mrs and the children IN FULL. I caught the peak so delighted that retirement is now secure and still have a decent holding in GGP for future advances a,win win.

Was great to meet you in Sheffield in the summer and look forward to the next time

One of things I have learnt these past few years is the people with the greatest kudos in mining talk about the asset the management and the jurisdiction being absolutely key.

Solg undoubtedly has a world class asset but it now looks as though the weakness of the management and the location not being attractive enough for the global heavyweights that it has had a significant impact on the price negotiations

Its really sad,although only a modest shareholder here that not only has a fair price not been reached but I am not entirely satisfied with the next custodians either.

It's not over till the fat lady sings but its looking unlikely now the major sh's have caved.
