Welcome Roofer. Willie Hill publishes year-end results to 31/12/20 on Wednesday. The State of New Jersey has already announced that December's sports-betting turnover was 125% ahead of December '19. Here's hoping WMH gives some firm numbers, instead of rather meaningless percentages.
New Jersey says the state's total sports betting turnover for 2020 was almost $399 million, up $100 million from 2019. See:
https://www.nj.gov/oag/ge/docs/Financials/PressRel2020/December2020.pdf
And the normal profit margin for a book is 8%. I haven't yet worked out how to get this for other states, but you can see from NJ that the numbers are growing like topsy, so we might well be in for good news.

Dear Roofer, Bezzer & Gumbo, Why on earth do you fall for this Irish conspiracy theorist and his ludicrous claims of Betfair being associated with dubious voting machine in the US? He's nuttier than a fruitcake and all these claims of election fraud have been totally exploded as utter drivel. TV stations like Pox News have been obliged to run prime-time grovelling apologies to Dominion Voting Machines for repeating trump's claims that their machines were hacked.
Now to the real world and serious business: yesterday William Hill issued a trading update. Lost in the small print was the revelation that 4th quarter online revenue in the US was up by 121% compared to Sept-Dec 2019. Even the year-on-year number was up 32%, despite the fact that pro-sports was shut down from March through July.
Bear in mid that market penetration is still only around 25% as each state legalises. New York's governor has finally woken up to the fact that his neighbour, New Jersey, is getting 20/25% of it's tax revenue from New Yorkers driving out of the city to place bets online. He now wants to legalise sports book & casino online gambling. His opening bid is he wants 100% of the profits, like he gets from the state lottery, but he'll settle for a lot less, because making books is much more skilful & complicated than owning a piece of tin covered in flashing lights, that spits out numbered balls, a few times a week.
Imho, within 5 years, UK betting plc's will see their US operations dwarfing their UK businesses. This stock has gone from £60 to £150 in less than 18 months and should go very much higher in time. I'm along for the ride.
There's a trading update due here soon. I wonder what US number's they'll disclose?
Have you seen webis #web today !!! Gambling has just been approved in NY share will 10 -100 times its money they have the licensees !! Get in quick before the Americans wake up !! Still low volume ! Thank me later
The Betting Slips are out
This is not going to be good for Betfair/PaddyPower. It's looking like a huge scam has been run. Links to the US election Dominion voting fraud. Settling a bet on the electorial college vote, and not the actual swearing in of the "Next President" which was the title of the bet is very fishy and smells like inside info.
People will be shorting the hell out of this now. A 1.3 billion euro class action law suit is under way in the UK and Australia. If Trump ends up Next President and judging by the way the swings states are being exposed for voting fraud, its looking likely.
Flutter had better reach for the phone numbers of some damn good lawyers. :(

No wonder it’s getting shorted ..
Good moving and extra dosh for Christmas pudding.
The placing price suggests a further sp rise today, fingers crossed.
Just watched Flutters US competitor DraftKings interviewed on US tv. The story is all about growth and new customers contributing +ve net value. Reinforces the story told by Flutter this week.
Sports betting apparently has only just become legal in some states. The medieval nature of some attitudes in the US never ceases to amaze me. That represents opportunity. Significant market growth in sports betting with improving prospects for future profit. The sector is on a rising curve.
Barclays spot on re increased earnings forecast. FLTR now forecasts EBITDA to 31/12/20 will rise from minimum £1,175 million to £1,275 million and max. £1,350 million.
Going gangbusters in the USA; 450,000 new customers for total active 1.8 million. Now claims to have 46% of online sports betting market and 22% of general online gaming, for 29% of total market.
USA now accounts for 12% of total group turnover and has grown 70% year-on year, suggesting that, within five years, US will be well over 25% of total, as more states legalise gambling.
Agreed Taverham, there's no difference between owning 1 share at £100 and 10,000 at 1p. Both will be equally expensive the moment they start dropping in value. 0.85p just seems less of a loss than £85, but, in reality. it ain't. I can see £200 by this time next year, but, but, but, I've often been wrong! Fingers crossed.
According to Market Watch, FLTR rose a tenner yesterday because Bank of America issued a broker's circular rating it a top buy in Europe, and comparing it to Draft Kings (DKNG). Saying it should be on the same earnings valuation and that it's in the strongest position to increase its' share of the US market. Upped the price target from £127 to £143.
Barclays issued a report stating that FLTR's 3rd Q report (due 11th November) will beat expectations and include a rise in existing guidance for full-year profitability.
What's not to like?
Flutter Entertainment 12,685.0 12,810.6 12,607.9 +105.0
It seems like there has been large trades of c. £10m at the closing bell each day for the last few weeks. I wonder if it is one player looking to build a position. Hopefully we'll see a TR1 to see who it is.
