The BBC iPlayer could really use some zero-buffering technology. My missus just had to pause and restart 3 times during an episode of Great British Menu. And I'm on a 76Mb connection!
Indeed. Diane McGrath seems to have an impressive track-record of tech strategy wins. All very positive.
Thanks Act6246 good to see theres someone with some knowledge here. Theres not even a thread on advfn which is most weak for that forum imo. See theres quite a high profile appointment announced today and very positive statement to go alongside it. Will research streaming tv next as advised. ATB,
The technology is exciting (zero-buffering streaming), the marketplace for it is growing rapidly (check the figures on streaming TV subscriptions) and the RNS on progress has so far been positive. Give it a little time, I see no reason it shouldn't reach it's placing price.
This is acting like a very unloved new issue. Is it justified or just unresearched by the market? Genuine question as I'm finding it difficult to decide myself on my limited ability to research here.
Literally all 'sells' (red) on L2, but the price has gone up? hmmmmmm
But when it is not there at 7.10 and people may want see asap then why not post it. There is a scroll button if needed. Just saying
For the benefit of some, there is a tab just above, titled 'FAL Live RNS' where any company news releases can be viewed. Just saying 😊
Called it! I'm surprised the SP isn't moving more, but then this is a long termer imo
Falcon Media House (LSE:FAL), the global internet broadcast media group focused on the over-the-top ('OTT') market, is pleased to announce it is working with Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of Communications™, to acquire connectivity, hosting and operational media workflow services that will power the Group's Teevee Direct-to-Consumer ('D2C') brand as related to in the Company's Prospectus dated 20 March 2017 which can be found on its website. The Teevee service will use the combination of the Group's recently acquired Quiptel Q-flow software and Tata Communications' network infrastructure to deliver seamless "buffer-free" live and on-demand sports programming across mobiles, tablets, desktops, set-top-boxes and smart televisions. The first phase is expected to be operational in two US data centres, located in Santa Clara and New York, by 1 May 2017, followed by further support for a full Teevee service launch in the second half of 2017. Tata Communications' ability to support rapid growth provides Teevee with the ability to deliver a scalable, compelling consumer experience. Falcon Media House Executive Chairman, Gert Rieder commented, "We are delighted to work with Tata Communications, tapping into the company's global network, sports industry and media services expertise. This is a landmark and critical relationship for Falcon Media House and through it we can make the most of our passion for the booming global OTT video market. Tata Communications' reach, scale and understanding of building dedicated video networks is unparalleled and gives us the confidence to focus on building our Teevee business without concern as we get access to a cost sensitive, on-demand scaling infrastructure. We look forward to working with Tata Communications going forward."
Brian Morris, Vice President and General Manager of Global Media and Entertainment Services business at Tata Communications, commented, "We love what Falcon Media House is seeking to do. Viewers deserve high quality access to their favourite sports, players and games irrelevant of the league. Many non-franchised sports around the world just do not get the same broadcast airtime as the top leagues, so it is a significantly underserved segment. We are proud to be enabling this innovative OTT service through our media services portfolio and our global network infrastructure."
https://twitter.com/tata_comm/status/850555053664477187 Interesting tweet, quiptel could be a good fit here imo
Here's a prime example of why buffering will matter - http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3003337/sky-will-ditch-the-dish-with-all-streaming-sky-q-from-2018 Sky to start phasing out dishes by 2018, by that time I suspect 4K will be further embedded into our everyday and all being downloaded. imo dyor
That's great castaway! Thanks for the update
I had a good chat with Richard Baker on the FAL stand - he was very enthusiastic and ran through how the Quiptel streaming works and showed the TeeVee app working on a tablet, they already have sport content and will be getting more in the near future. I think there is a lot in the prospectus that the market hasn't understood yet, the tie up with TATA could be massive they own about a 3rd of the world's fibre infrastructure and FAL will be able to deliver content to the market easily - Richard mentioned TATA were impressed with the Quiptel system and it will come into its own as the higher definition video becomes standard a much lower bandwidth is needed to stream this with the Quiptel technology. I missed Gert Reiders presentation as I had to leave before it started - should be able to see that in a podcast thought. I gather there will be much happening this year and good news flow to look forward to.
How did it go? Did anyone go to see FAL? What are your thoughts? Hope you had a good one
Fal presenting at UK investor show tomorrow in Westminster, hopefully spread the word and help investors realise the potential we have here
College sports is huge in the US... a far bigger deal than the market is giving credit for. At the moment. "We have already signed agreements to acquire broadcasting rights to certain champion games and special events sponsored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference ('ECAC'), the largest US east coast sports college franchise, as well as other notable opportunities."
"This is a very exciting time for Falcon: our market fundamentals are excellent; our cutting-edge technology is rapidly gaining recognition; we have contracts with leading players including Tata Communications; and the Company has cash in the bank to accelerate its strategy to become a leader in the OTT market. " Nice bullish statement
should see the 25 easily enough pre news flow. today would be nice.
Thing we know with fal is that its a very tight book. 4m was raised at 25p.. thats a large amount of money. This should be trading a premium to that for starters
yes 22p to buy now in small quantities
Litetally cant buy a bean. Quoting me 21p for 5k shares then when I click to execute it goes no deal. Looks like mms in trouble
must have been some shs sold from fees - looking good, should get to 25p placing price very soon
Interesting to see where this goes, looks very very good. Good luck all !
