This country isn't even run by the markets it's run by the media. Have you looked at what has happened to GBP/USD since the tax cuts were reversed? Yup, on the decline again. Has nothing to do with tax cuts. Look at EUR/USD as a reference point. The same goes for out politics, whilst there are a handful of socialists in the Conservative party, they are the minority, our left leaning media gives them a large pedestal to shout from and policy is changed to suit their narrative hence we end up going around in circles. As a country we need to learn to stand on our own two feet.
That is positive so far then. But the conservatives not known for their conviction at present.
Rishi has actually said he supports fracking.
Mirasol, I followed events all evening. The hour long world tonight program on R4 was very damning, Yvette Cooper was doing the rounds on R4 then R5. I agree that she is probably toast. Apparently the 1922 committee just need to re-write the rules (again) to get rid of her and give Sunak his 'coronation' (their word not mine).
I also think Fracking is a dead duck, as it is only Truss who wants it. Wach Rees-smug change his mind next week when Rishi says its bad.
So you believe and trust the 'media'?
"Fracking to stay on the agenda for now, and Truss has won a major vote."
have you actually seen the papers this morning? She's a very very dead duck
Glad to get the expected rise this morning on the back of the Government vote on continuing with the Fracking potential. Let's hope they actually get started and there's more positive with Gas etc than any negative effects on the processes.
Statistics have neen negatively used. Realistically there are millions of earthquakes around the world regularly. Most we don't even feel as they are so slight, its just movement of the earths crust. (Plate Tectonics) if my geology memory is correct.
Let's get the trial site(s) running properly with igas. Prove some points accurately.
Yeah, I mean he looks like someone not to mess with. pffffff.
for Moggy , dragging MP's across the the division and telling them not to be a naughty boy. Although , it was a close run thing. As Welliebob said about Waterloo.
Well the vote was defeated. Fracking to stay on the agenda for now, and Truss has won a major vote.

Hi, Sorry GP, yes I keep muddling them up. It is the finals. My apologies. See post:

nice one eh dartron
Back to the races tomorrow, fracking is a must do now.
Whoever says fracking isn't important here is in technical terms: a muppet.
We easily won the vote 326 to 230. The media talk absolute bs, we are the silent majority and always have been. Remember when the polls had that commie Corbyn winning? The pound is still struggling against the USD, the reasons are little to do with Truss. She should've seen through her policy, too weak.
Its obvious who runs UK now-- the market,so i would guess there must be lots of money betting against fracking with the outcome already paid for me thinks.
We have already lost it , it's being used as a vote of confidence.
Hi Dartron. Can you please say what ' meant by " ....the interims will be announced this week, with them being released 2nd week of November". I assume you're talking here about the announcement of the FINAL (31 July '22) results . I tink the interims would take us to 31 January 2023
There are going to be powercuts Jan/Feb of next year due to gas shortages. So lets turn up the turbines, and make the tide ebb and flow three times a day. There is definately a hidden agenda about fracking what a pile of garbage.
It will be voted on at 19:00 BST in Parliament.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-63313824
Tory MPs have been ordered to oppose a Labour move to ban fracking to demonstrate their loyalty to Liz Truss.
Labour wants to use a vote in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon to force the introduction of a draft law to ban the extraction of shale gas. But the government has told Tory MPs they must vote against Labour, saying "we simply cannot allow this".
So its a Liz Truss popularity vote using Fracking as the proxy. Expect a ban on Fracking very soon. It was even suggested that this could trigger the vote of no confidence and general election, but the Speaker refused to be drawn on this when it was raised.
Might actually be the best thing, I think the share price here would be far more stable if Fracking were ruled out. There is plenty to cheer about here without Fracking as a distraction. I also think there is better mileage in public relations for Egdon if Fracking is a no go. Otherwise, we will just be stuck in endless legal challenges and protests. The focus should be maximizing bopd from Wressle, and hopefully Biscathorpe etc.
It was posted on Twitter today that notice of the interims will be announced this week, with them being released 2nd week of November. Also an announcement on the Gas processing no later than the interims. Going to be a tough couple weeks as a holder I think.
I agree with a lot of what Johnny says ...... to back him up .
. Was the NHS staff full of sickness when they made their Tik tok videos? . Was the nightingale hospitals ever used? Also for me one of the biggest travesties of the whole fiasco the 10 s of millions and millions of people diagnosed as sick .......... When they never were sick . ( see Goodharts law ) .
To misquote a line from a Pink Floyd song '' just another pr-ck in the wall''.
All of a sudden Johny turns up and the board is flooded with conspiracy theories, ravings and all the signs of a lunatic
I thought the board was about Egdon - who are none of those things??
Well said isdeer
Johnny,
Have you spoken with anyone who worked in a hospital during the pandemic for their take on what was actually happening, then and now.
You are correct about some hospitals not being full to capacity on occasions, the problem they had was with placing covid patients away from sick non covid patients while trying to maintain full capacity, it was a balancing act, all the while sickness was rife amongst staff, you can’t maintain full capacity with less staff and you can’t open new wards or hospitals to cater for the sick when you don’t have the staff to man them.
