I sold some at the high 130's but am still sitting on some which I am happy to gamble with to the end.
120p vs 126p (now) is worth the gamble to me, but I think a counter offer is unlikely now.
GLA
I'm still sitting on my shares. Anyone have any thoughts on the upsides of staying put with them? I can get a higher return than the offer price by selling now. Not sure whether to hang on ....
Something happening after the bell today?
yes, very odd, i may have jumped ship too early, but no worries, i did ok out of the deal i got
A fund buying in / topping up at £6.37, that's a strange purchase to make at this stage.
The paperwork says shares will cease trading on the 12th April at 5pm.
So the next tax year.
not 100% sure without doing some reseach, but as i sold out already, i only keep a casual eye on here to see what's going on.
My gut reaction is that it probably wont complete in the time frame your worried about, although i'm by no means an expert in these matters, the last time i was in this situation, it took longer than i expected, hence why this time i took the option to leave at a price over the offer and which also covered my trading fees.
As for why it's still in the 630's I am at a loss to explain, i'd have thought that if a counter bidder was in the wings, that they'd have shown their hand by now, unless in some weird way, it pays for the company acquiring DCG to hold more of the shares prior to the deal completing, but i'm purely speculating on that.
Does anyone have any information on when this is likely to happen?
I do not want settlement in this tax year.
Also:
There seems to be a blizzard of buys going through at the moment - has someone had a sniff of a counterbid?
Amazing , taken over without the agreement of the small shareholder yet again . It should not fall into foreign hands.I have loyally held these shares for many years . Do we never learn , when things get tough the foreigners abandon us , or asset strip us. If it is good for the Canadians why is it not good for us ? Do we actually own any of our businesses now ? It should be stopped!

I bet this will be another range of products that gets magically changes taste and double in price when accounting for the next wave of shrink-flation. Cadburys all over again.

I agree these things are great but unlikely to move the share price as much as it has moved. Still looking 👀..........
....if the now likely failure of Premier Foods to secure a deal to sell the Ambrosia brand has had a positive effect on DCG, as we'll potentially not be laying out a large some of money and taking on extra problems right before the Brexit deadline??

i don't see anything glaring in the shorts positions, other than GLG Partners slowly but surely reducing their short position, but others have increased slightly

there is this, but i can't see this being it on it's own
https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/business/dairy-crest-unveils-75million-expansion-2507797
it's hard for me to hold as i've been burned before holding too long, after something has passed my target price, if this gets closer to 560 i'll be gone i think
No idea, I have been searching the Internet daily to find anything that could cause this. Hold tight somebody obviously knows something that we do not.
wth ?
where has this huge jump come from ? i'm seeing no news releases or anything that could indicate such a substantial climb, it's just bust through my target without warning and i'm wanting to know what's driving this, incase i might jump out too early.

aren't we due a set of results and a dividend declaration ?
As for where it's going, no idea, my target was in the region of 536-543, that'll give me circa 9% profit on top of the dividends i've collected.
I'll probably get out of this one before the next dividend, it's proved slightly more volatile than i had hoped.
Not sure what is causing the rise today but I like it too.
I'm in profit with this one.... unfortunately a lot of the others i'm not doing so well in, EDL is killing me!
The last few days rise here has been a nice surprise i must say, and it's now moving closer to my target price
Hopefully your portfolio looks a little healthier now @CrystalBallBroke?
How are people feeling about this share, on the 1st Jan it was 430. Do people think it will be higher, lower or just flat for the year?

Yeah definitely looks to be heading south short term. Not sure what if anything merits the big sell off though.

Been tipped as a buy from IC this week. The charts dont look good imo though. Could be more pain to come. But hey, could bounce from here too!
Last post: Davbillsam123, 8 Nov 2018 16:50
Was expecting a bounce after yesterday's update but seems to be heading south again. Anyone got any thoughts?
lol yeah at 150 i'd have found funds from somewhere hahaha
correction: 450, not 150. wishful thinking on my part :)
Investec changed their broker guide from buy to hold, hence the drop.
There was nothing to suggest they have leaked info. Most of their report was based around general sentiment in the consumer sector and their sense that growth was not evident going forward to the degree expressed by the board of directors.
I reinvested yesterday below 150. Personally, this looks steady, investment into plant is on target (plannng consultation with locals went live in September with no major objections) and divi looks good and secure.
oh great, more market manipulation and insider trading, so it'll drop 15-20% results will come out and be ok, and we'll scrape back level with where we were and gain nothing from the results.... but those buying in will gain nicely
or, it's all going to crap and the price will drop further on the official release of the results

DCG export very little (2% of turnover in last accounts). Milk is supplied from UK farmers and the finished products sold in the UK. The main risk is the volatility in milk prices, which will be affected mainly by feed costs. These could be impacted by Brexit greatly, but if we did have a hard Brexit we could negotiate better trade deals with other non-EU countries.
Another point to consider is that a lot of cheddar in the UK is imported from Ireland. If we had a hard brexit there would be large tariffs on this cheese, pushing up prices for some competitors.
I think it looks like a decent company with a good dividend yield. Recent raise in capital is to expand the output, but the cheddar market is saturated and they will have to be extremely competitive to take more market share, which will hit the bottom line I'm sure.
As you may tell, I'm attracted to the company, but still doing my analysis. Undecided at present, but may make a small investment for the dividend, which i believe is safe.
Can someone explain to me how DCG is going to deal with Brexit? If there are mass delays at the various ports around the UK, then a lot of Dairy products are going to suffer. I know everything is refrigerated nowadays, but I doubt truck refrigeration systems can take a long delay in their stride?
That could severely impact sales and turnover.
I'm tempted to buy some of these shares as the price is now so cheap, but it is Brexit that is putting me off, and it appears to be putting off other investors as well. Any ideas?

Sales at Dairy Crest were given a 6 per cent boost by the out-performance of key brands Cathedral City and Clover in the first quarter, despite the ‘challenging butter market’.
Boss Mark Allen said: ‘2018/19 has started as we expected, with our two most important brands, Cathedral City and Clover, delivering a strong performance.
‘While the butter market remains challenging, our spreads portfolio continues to go from strength to strength, demonstrating the benefit of our diversified portfolio.’
Dairy Crest expects to launch several new products before the end of the year.

Good result today.Steady as you go.
almost as much life in this board as this share... this ex-divi drop is nothing like the last few where it hasn't over reacted, only difference this time is i have money invested :(
..... a bigger fall than it's seen previously on ex-divi dates, still some interesting movement today, so hopefully it wont take too long to recover

oops, i meant 490's !!
very quiet in here.
..... in the low 190's and will pick up the divi, but i'm hoping that this could perform well through the ex-divi date and then show some signs of recovering from this low
No explanations, but technically it could head back to 368 if the weakness persists.
Anyone explain the recent drops
liking it very much :)

Not a bad price to buy in now..... nearly 4% divi and some good brands with the new infant formula revenue stream coming fully online next year? I think the increased net debt position is scaring off investors that think the dividend will be at risk, I believe this is unlikely so am happy to hold.

Just checked my account - indeed they did, thanks. Todays drop disappointing off the back of the recent recovery rise.
They have just paid one 6.2p I believe and have no reason to not continue to pay dividends. This is a good dividend share, with an outside chance of being taken over at some point, but that's has been speculative for some time. I'm happy just getting the dividend GL
I thought DCG was on a list of companies now NOT offering dividends? Was very disappointed when I read that.
I wonder what is driving the last two weeks performance........ Any Ideas? Possibly oversold vs expectations, or a safe haven for dividend income.
