Some Hedgefund say the weakness in Usa markets might be short lived by end of this week start to recover “ maybe “
Shorts might be waiting also for ML news … good day …
Range trading so far 390 to 450 , a lot of “ energy “ will be needed to break above 450 p at the moment
Fed Powell on around Wednesday
Markets are weak because of Ukraine and US sell off. Volatile week for the SP ahead. Lots of big US earnings updates which has obv implications.
Dark shorts clearly still to fully cover. They may use the weakness/volatility this week to go for a close.
Maybe Range trading again 400 to 450 range daily so far
Sanchez ?
Good day everyone !
Ndn71 - I think there are more than 60,000 shares a day traded btw!
Raj - Thanks for steering me in the right direction - I'm not sure how simple it is as there area a lot of noughts involved.
Ndn71 - you are right. Do we need an "Amazingometer!"
That's simple, not simplistic.
CR888 - In very simplistic terms, on Friday the 21st January, you are describing the trading of shares that amount to very roughly 2 x thousandths of Darktrace's capital value as "amazing." On the same day that $3 trillion of US options hit the buffers. Taking the standard definition of a trillion as a million million, this is $3,000,000,000,000. Or very roughly 10% of the US national debt which is around $30 trillion & counting. Around $800 billion of this was equities.
The impact of these Triple/Quadruple Witching Hours is staggering for World markets. I would save your predictions for next weeks Dark SP until this financial Tsunami has clearly abated.
Hi latpulldown - I don't follow trades because to spend too much time on them is a fool's errand. I am interested in volume though. Negotiated trades will often have an element of secrecy about them, especially the large ones, and it isn't us (the PI's) that they are hiding info from. We are small beer in the scheme of things. The UT is an auction process and it will be used by market professionals when it suits. The really big trades will be done quietly and their priority isn't entering the deal on the system.
Trying to double guess who or what is behind a trade is pretty futile because of the use of nominees and MM actions. It isn't necessarily done on purpose but even getting the information of who traded would only be of use for a short while and the motivation would still be unknown for the bulk of trades.
If you've ever been to an AGM you'll note the registrars checking a huge computer roll against letters of authorisation to attend or allow in shareholders who just turn up. I find it hard to get accurate figures of just who major shareholders are and it isn't policed that well. I telephoned a Registrar to make sure I couldn't access the roll. With that knowledge I called the company direct (not DARK). They confirmed that they do check the roll (manually) once a month themselves because self-reporting is not always followed in the spirit that it was intended, for example: Premier Oil and ARCM.
Discussing trades is useful fodder for posters who have nothing better to do. They think it makes them look knowledgeable. It doesn't. Guessing the meaning of anonymous trades with strangers on an anonymous message board is the definition of puerile. The UT is a marker for various indexes and settlements. A bit like discussing the LIBOR of the day.
If companies find it murky what chance does a pundit on here have who doesn't even know how to access FREE and available out of date figures.
Tomorrow China and Europe futures are down …
Some pundits think on late Monday or Tuesday could see a bounce before Fed Powell
Likely a drop early Monday but who knows !
Thanks L ,
Helpful …so if some investors willing to come out and buy at 424 some 6 million shares it’s amazing … more than 3 times the volume during the day !
Sooner or later ( Sheltie thinks time is needed ) Darks growth of 50 per cent will be recognised by investors , I don’t expect anything but range trading for next 2 weeks or so …
Who knows the future …
Thanks romaron for the heads up and I am only relatively new on here.
The UT trade it has to be said is absolute basics. Hop onto virtually any other share and you will find it at 16:35hours. Try the trades from Friday on say Cineworld, Trainline, Aviva, Card Factory or any other of your own choosing.
If it had been a Late Reported trade it would have had an "L" beside it.
Good Morning CR888. No its not a later reported trade either or it would have indicated as such. It is as it says an Uncrossing Trade (UT). Its a matched Buy and Sell so somebody was happy to pick up all those shares at the closing UT price.
Most are familiar with AT trades - Automatic / Algorythmic trades and "O" - Ordinary Trades. Here are the other abbreviations just so you you don't get confused in your interpretations.

Tech generally has been hit Deliveroo , AWE and others over sold .
Software subscription easier !
R - I am not talking about GS or JPM or trading - but more the medium term view !
Although if we stay between a range for a while , some range trading might be a good idea .. too !
No one knows for sure and certainly a few HF like SF can move the price at will until we break above 450 p
R - hopefully those who consider that the first part of Poppy's daily schedule is to read the LSE board on Darktrace, to inform her strategy for the day will pay heed to the important points you have raised. Changing & improving the content of the board will involve quite a lot of stating what some people do not necessarily want to hear!
Dark has been hit very hard - it is low on many measures
At same time growing 50 per cent !
I remember well the Swiss Franc revaluation, brokers like FXCM went under !
How’s your view on the Pound / USD in next 6 months :)
Romaron - I don’t claim to be an expert on all these ins and outs if the U.K. share trading system ….
All I have been saying is Brokers give upside on Dark ( average TP 775 p around ) and that Dark is growing well at some 50 per cent a year …
Crowdstrike and Paolo , Sentinel seem to be down around an average of 40 per cent from peak ,and they were high priced , so given that Dark was low priced , Darks fair value now could be argued is 650 / 700 p with further upside later in year
Need new investors and for the gents at Shadow Fall to move onto other targets ! And we need Dark to keep growing with Muktimillion dollar deals and clarity on ML ..
Where is price going next week , first half volatile , til Fed Powell on Wednesday maybe
lastpulldown - you're wasting your breath. I realised within a few days of following this message board that CR888 is a dimwit when it comes to trading. I have him on Filter now and would suggest that others consider doing the same. He is harmless to you and me but potentially dangerous to anybody who pays attention to his half-baked theories.
I'm no expert in share trading but spent 27 years as a trader and market maker in FX. Even MMs don't usually know what is behind a clients trade or what a competitor is up to but somehow a guy who doesn't even know about late reporting is some kinda commentator who should be listened to?
*in 2015 the Swiss National Bank removed the Swiss franc to Euro peg. Chaos ensued and the next day 2 older traders at Citibank were accused of being missing from the battlefield and not honouring a commitment that the bank made to other participants. The swings were enormous and electronic trading was intermittent or too volatile. These 2 guys were accused of being m.i.a.
They actually ddi a wonderful job for the bank by resorting to old technology called a telephone. You also need the right numbers to get through. They had made their annual budget by lunchtime.
Do you really expect the likes of Goldman and JP Morgan to get in an orderly queue along with CityIndex customers? CR888 does. Some of these late trades aren't nefarious and either side had a bona fida reason for the deal. MMs are really only messengers/agents. The positions they hold are minute compared to the big companies they handle trades for. If some want to believe there is a conspiracy or a risk free way to make money then carry on. The markets are huge and PI's are at a huge disadvantage from a trading perspective. We can though play like mini Warren Buffets who admits to being a useless trader.
The UT has similarities to Libor and fixes on European bourses. It is necessary to have a price that is less manipuiated than actions during the day and has a level of transparency. To save arguments it could be agreed to settle trades at the UT. I saw some manipulation in FX fixes but it was small potatoes to what went on around it. Players don't wait if the news requires action now.
BB thanks , I am not an expert on UT , O and after market ..
5.8 million shares at 435 pm is huge number , I guess they play the Times article this weekend and expect lower on Monday …
No Charles, UT is auction that happen within 5 minutes after market closes in which the price is reported at precisely 4.35pm. Then you can ignore all trades after that as delayed report. Last Friday's volume is larger than usual, normally it is about 200k shares.
To now, I still don't understand who's behind the after-hour trades. Their volumes can be large but don't seem to have strong correlation with next day's SP.
The good news is Dark is growing 50 per cent a year , in a growing industry … also Dark is now priced very cheaply ,
In a month when sentiment changes , easy to jump 100 p or more … in weeks !
Peloton , Netflix not growing now at 50 per cent a year
Why is travel down last week , travel , airlines , cruises etc , I thought the world opening up !
This range trading between 390/400 and 450 could continue for ever unless new volume of buyers comes from somewhere …
So the UT trade happened at the end of day only ? The size seems too big to happen at end of day …only
Or could they also be late reported trades that happened all day in a black box ….
My theory would be 2 million shares were sold down at opening on Friday at 432
Then 2 million shares bought back at 410
Then 1.8 million shares sold at 438 p
Range trading like this would bring a profit of around 1 million pounds on Friday
If the whole lot happened only at end of Friday then forget this Range Trading theory
I guess with Nasdaq not doing well on Friday it is possible for big end of day trade to happen too with Dark
The question is who and why ?
CR888 I really shouldn't be having to point out to you that the large trade to which you refer actually is the Uncrossing Trade which occurs on virtually all shares at 16:35 hrs.
It is a single trade matching both accumulated Sells AND Buys.
"An uncrossing trade is where buyers on the bid and sellers on the ask match together in a single trade at the end of an auction period. The uncrossing trade shows up with the trade code “UT” on the London Stock Exchange.
