as Phil Bentley is appointed new CEO.....& yet the sp goes down!.....bizarre....
GS has recently upgraded their SP for CWC, perhaps they suspect some good news when the interims are announced on November 7th. From my perspective I think we will have to wait for next year before we see significant movement on the SP but with a nice divident I'm not worried about that.
why is this sp so annoyingly slow & confined within a narrow 1-2p price range for such a long time now?
Breaking out at last - good news on 4G roll out in the Bahamas. Mid 40's by year end?
Nice 500,000 buy this morning (not mine, sadly). Seems to be stuck in a range at the moment.
Well bid at the moment. Over 40.5. Looking to head upwards to 41p+ soon
Any views on why the s.p. has drifted down this week?
Looks like it is destined to go sub 40....but how low?
I'm long on these and decided to double up today - too many 'buy' ratings and TO rumours to ignore. GLA
Better than VOD this morning, then fell to 2nd place chg | % CWC 41.53 0.75% VOD 209.60 0.82%
Nice to see Deutsche Bank renew their 57pence rating. With all the reorganisation going on news out of the company is pretty sparse at the moment but I reckon Q1 next year will be interesting. Between now and then all we know we have to look forward to is the interim results in November. The interview that Tony Rice gave to Bloomberg after the annual results is worth a look, it gave me confidence in the company. http://www.bloomberg.com/video/cable-wireless-plans-100-million-in-cost-cuts-AjS_W8GGRs~krNxU3SltMA.html/
and lots of buys going on, has given little twitches lately maybe is time for recovery. I am already up to my eyes in this so not likely to buy more but may be opportunity for some?
Got to be a good buy at this price. All broker targets are above it - some well above (especially Deutsche whose views have been uncannily right in the shares I've followed over the past 6 months or so). And yield is good, debt well down due to business refocusing. What's not to like? Takeover possibilities are just icing on an already good looking cake.
Its a Florida based source referring to circling vultures is all I can say. However from memory I think the Times or Torygraph about 6 months ago mentioned American Movil. Telefonica have also been mentioned and London brokers refer to a rumour that it could be an interesting titbit for Verizon whilst they decide what to do over the 50% Vodafone interest. Then there are several other Latin American players so CWC is on a lot of cash rich company radars at present
Hi, any chance you can share with us the source of the information that leads you to "understand at least 2 companies are quietly looking them over"? I regularly search resources for CWC related info and often fine some obscure stuff in the Caribean press and on technical websited but I am yet to read about anyone who is yet actviely or quietly looking at CWC. Regards, COMSMAN
same situation as March.these things take time and exchange rates play a part. Sure we can agree they are not in play yet but I understand at least 2 companies are quietly looking them over . Watch for any sudden dollar strength as that could trigger a move.
Not wishing to pour water on this but you did say much the same thing back in March. I agree that there are some clues that a takeover might be the end game here - such as the CEO buying large quantities of shares and the company re-engineering itself into a Caribbean/Pan American operation. But I would have thought that it would be when the re-structuring is completed. The last news was that there is still a question mark over the Monaco deal I think?
I hear they are being sized up with a view to an offer for the Company before the share price recovers
with a 30% profit but I wish you all luck :-)
Hi Barlew, the Press Release regarding the Columbus tie up stated that initially this would be a marketing and sales joint venture but subject to regulatory approval the cable asstes of both companies would then be combined in a single business with CWW having an approximate 25% stake. I think CWW see this as both a way of assuring access to extra cable capacity to support data growth in the region and to save their capital for investments elsewhere. The IMS reported that NET DEBT was down to 263M Dollars but on the conference call earlier the CFO stated that they are still carrying the two large loans although there is an option to pay one of these off next February, which he inferred they would do. CWC provides me with good dividends and I belive there is little risk to the stock. On top of that if management succeeed in thier restructure and secure business effciencies I do think that next year it will become an attractive assett for some of the larger North and Central american operators. (Patience is the key here.)
After disposal of Islands at 807M Dollars CWC seems to have reduced debt from 1.388M Dollars to 263M Dollars which would suggest an operating reduction of 320 M Dollars whcih is not bad for 3 months. If they keep that up the debt will be wiped out in less than a year.
Hi there. I agree re Dominican Republic. and indeed that sp will not move much until cost cutting exercise concluded. How close is CWC to Columbus - any prospect of a tie-up or even take-over (by Columbus not other way round as they are so much bigger)? Future seems interesting to me.
Hi Barlew, I was on that call also and whilst Monaco is not an issue for me, it is a profitable and very self-contained operation, I would not like to see CWC go into the Dominican Republic. That would be too big for CWC to swallow (alone) and Orange want out for good reason. The Government there are applying punitive taxes on the Telcos and the whole country is somewhat 'lawless'. Verizon got out of the country years ago. As I said previously, we won't see the SP move until the re-organisation has delivered sometime next year.
Having done a bit of research it seems that Monaco may not give approval to hte sale of CWC's operation there. This would mean that CWC would buy back the 25% sold and continue to operate there and in the Seychelles. This as they (CWC) say is not a bad problem, to have as Monaco is very profitable but does it upset future expansion and investment plans and indeed containing the debt? Cannot see the SP soaring on this news - perhaps we will be below 40p again??
