Nhmusicman: for charting I am currently using the Advanced Platform of my broker which is TD. Obviously if you execute your shares through a different broker you can not use this. I am contemplating going far more superior in terms of depth of what you can do with the charts .. I like https://uk.tradingview.com/ (tradingview.com) and its $9.95 per month for the Pro. Will probably start that in the beginning of the year. Borgy
Kind offers there Borgy. Even as a longer term invester rather than a trader, your BB and RSI analysis is insightful with regard to when to buy, i.e. When prices are discounted as a result of a strong trend, rather than a drop in intrinsic value. What platform would you recommend to chart these analytics? Nick
Guys i am happy to help. If anyone wants to add me to Skype my username is noelborg2005 based in dubai --- just introduce yourself and we can share ideas. The comforting thing about FTSE listed companies is that no matter how much anyone ramps/de-ramps a share, we cant influence. This is very much unlike the casino of the AIM where I do follow a handful of stocks but my goodness never take their word for it ... there are some genuine posters but u must be cautious. I have a portfolio of exactly 27 stocks. I follow about another 15 and have a few on my watch list right now, Diversification is the key to managing risk and growing your capital.
Personally I`m always happy to read someones views and methods if they help to enhance my own often feeble attempts. I`d be interested Borgy to know how many shares you "follow" at any given time. The analysis may be time consuming and I`m guessing needs fairly constant monitoring. Also better applied to ftse 100 and 250 companies with fewer unknowns than the aim circus. TP
Hi Borgy, Yes 1974 , wow great background you have.had a look at VOD must admit looks so easy how you have explained. Thanks for the lessons on Borgy easy charting for numpties. Not looked at Royal Mail but I will take your word for that one Borgy. And sorry if anyone reading this board at present it is cambian BB, but this guy has got something, and I don't care what he post on here the man is a genius we could do a lot worse then listening to some others. Great to see you post you findings here mate I will look out for more findings,And the next lessons on the Borgy charting for numptys Thanks all good luck
hey genty74. are we the same year of birth 1974? In all honesty i would not be in a position to predict a future SP - that's not my skill. I often read with a smile posters flying off with numbers but i am all set up for short term trading. That's my background as an ex trader at HSBC. I worked on the equity desk and scalped for minute % often less than 1 (obviously with a sizable book). what i can say right now with CMBN is i like the chart set up. Not overbought on the stochastics - all the benchmark moving averages are trending up. bolliinger bands curled upwards...SP is sittnig on the 8 day exponential (aka T-Line) and tucked in within the bollingers. It is comfortable ride on the T line. short of any positive news I see the next resistance level at 140 followed by 166. Give u an idea of the kind of trades i do. I spotted Royal Mail down 7% yesterday on release of results. The SP breached the lower of the bollinger bands. I will ask all of you... go look at sps and when u see the SP closing outside of the lower BB ... the liklihood is it will revert back to the mean (ie up inside the lower band)... called a reversion trade, I bought in Royal Mail at 458 on 20k and sold today at 468 for a few hundred quid profit. In fact the sp today is still outside the lower BB so i would expect it to go up further so may have another pop on Monday. have a nice weekend. feel comfortable just sitting with CMBN right now.
Very happy with how things have progressed here. Have a great weekend guys, can't be long for news now. If you fancy some sort of prediction Borgy, like to here it !! As would the others on here I suspect. Just out of Intrest borgy how high of a sp would your think your chart could get to with a buy out for around the 400m Of the adult services??? I am long term on this and waiting to see dividends soon So don't care to much about sp fluctuations and swings but would be interesting to know if you could hit it yet again with your charts. Thanks all the best G74
Has stalled slightly around this mark. Awaiting rns re sale then movement upwards I hope. TP
Good Morning Chaps. Have a look at the Momentum Indicator (MI) to visualize the direction and strength of the of the price trend. On a chart set up i use a 14 day period which in simple terms compares the current price to where it was in the past 14 days. You will see on the 11/11 (Trump day) ...the MI from a negative turned above 0 and crossed over the 14 day average = Result we see sp rise from an opening of 120p - 125p and the start of a price rise we have seen ,,, When the Momentum indicator crosses above the zero line. The crossing of the zero line implies that the price of CMBN reversing course, either by having bottomed out or by breaking out above recent highs; this is typically viewed as a bullish signal. as of today ... we have a Doji as closing candlestick which indicates indecision. We will have to wait for today's price action to determine the next course of price (rise or fall). The MI indicator curled to the downside which may indicate the recent price action may reverse again .... I am only referring to the short term price action... for the swing traders like myself who love the challenge of guessing the price action and the ups and downs. for the LT holders here ... just ignore me and enjoy the ride up :-)
Having spent the last couple of days looking into MACD, RSIs and BB analysis, I wish someone had taught me about these sooner! Tested it on some historic prices and it would've certainly changed some of my decisions for the better. Thank you Borgy74!
I like that, thanks. TP
Hi borg74, Your way of trading has opened my eyes to look at the way I will be looking to invest in the future. I have looked at a few that have been on my radar for some time and the way you have explained how you trade looks absolutely spot on to me.. I would like to thank you for your input onto this BB, and I speak for a few i believe hope everything turns out fabulous for you. Honestly cant thank you enough for the input..... GOOD LUCK ALL
GoldD: Once a resistance level can then prove to be a support level. I had posted back around mid-September as 120p as the next resistance point and that appeared correct with hindsight. That 120p then became a support level throughout the 5 weeks of October - through to last week. How to spot support / resistance levels ... look at the chart ... go back say 1 year and for: support look: bounces off trend lines and popular moving averages (SMA 20, 50,100, 200) and for the Resistance same again but the opposite. Its very visual and is more an art than a science.
Announcement tomorrow I think!
Borgy74 - your munch was spot on! I've been following VOD too and waiting for signs of a shift towards its 300p target. Imminent you think? I really do need to review MACD and RSI's.....sounds like that's where the gold is!
How do you know what the support and resistances are? A few were saying that 120p would be the resistance but we were trading around 123p for a while....
for those of you interested in support - take a look at VOD sp.. bouncing off support at 202p and looks well over sold on the daily chart. News out tom so one sp to watch out for. Borgy
I do flutter a smile when i see posters randomly shooting prices out there in absolute and % terms ... 20% up today :-) I prefer meticulously to look at the graphs and support and resistance levels. I posted on the forum of BOO today regarding some of the TA I use BUT most important whatever you do ... look at support and resistance. why? many of my fellow ex-colleagues are programmed like that and now with the advent of technology and computer algorithms ... most often than not .. we are all looking at the same channels ... herd behaviour. I am no better at this than you lot but for me charts tell a story without all the noise of chatters and news. Borgy
The SP still has a long way to go yet.... On Christmas morning wake up and check the SP for the best present ever.... 20% up today would be great and we will still be undervalued. Bring on the Sales
Spot on. Keep going. Can`t be far off now. TP
Called it again Borgy - you're getting good at this! Nice blue day on the cards again folks - great to see!
fantastic prediction Borgy74 and good last post ... spot on
