@latpulldown it happened since with Halloween Kills and my rebooking of The Last Duel although there were no ads and trailers we just looked at the Cineworld logo screen for 20 minutes maybe it's just Shrewsbury Cineworld this week I'm not sure.
I'd rather not see trailers to be honest I always try and arrive after them as they contain too many spoilers, the Cine logo for 20 mins should stay lol
Unlimited Dune tomorrow and taking my Mum on a meercat to Bond (again) on Tuesday so ill see if they've fixed it :-)
Stop arse kissing custona, what have given on here, To have an opinion
LPD I have seen your posts here and TLW. Keep them coming. cruis1 seems like one of the many posters we had one TLW all of whom joined on 16 Nov 2020.
Bonkets. Getting better but missing the student nurses. Best holiday ever. I'm in long term as you know. Bought 5ks worth whilst I was half dead. I was on watsapp with one of our Lse pals whilst I was doing this. Great to see Crumpets xx around. Chat tomorrow Bonxy
Enjoy Dune mate , numbers in cinemas equals cash in tills , equals decent financials equals decent s.p well that's the plan lol
Robin you crazy cat hope all is well
Articles like this only serve to reinforce what people are reporting. Pubs, Restaurants and bars at 110% of pre-pandemic levels.
Most cinemas you will of course appreciate are co-located with and surrounded by "feeder" restaurants, cafes and pubs and bars, each bringing the other trade.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/markets/article-10101241/Sales-pubs-restaurants-bars-rise-second-successive-month.html
Lapdown keep your mouth shut for a change, I always state that I go on a Saturday morning, & it’s showcase cinema Dudley. I Stated yesterday That I came out the cinema & it was rammed. You always think you are something special, Ramping this from £1.20 all the way down to the 50s
All my favs are posting at same time??!!
GL this week gents. X
No it wasn't us Crumpets. I can assure you of that. Hope it didn't spoil the film though.
Re Danster, if its not danster on here it's Tommy Cruise popping along to the 9.30a.m. showings or another. Wasn't there once one who went to a kiddie flix at 12p.m. on a weekday when all children were still at school. We get used to all sorts on here.
I think they sometimes forget that people and potential investors only need to pop along to a Cineworld cinema themselves at the popular weekend times and do their own research. The footfall numbers hit you square in the face now and everybody knows what films are coming between now and year end.
Bring on our next trading update.
Venom Friday
Halloween Kills last night
both well attended, but more importantly it was clear other movies were also with good numbers streaming in and out building and the concessions doing roaring trade.
Scream was also incredibly attended during week.
Dune tomorrow evening (unlimited cardholders screening).
Did you hit the cinema this weekend fun , Halloween kills seems to be making some good headlines.
Hopefully get some more accurate numbers on how the others flailed during the week
Bonkers I agree it's unlikely he is in a single person weekend screening.
Over years I have had maybe a couple or so experiences of that myself (usually mid/lower range films or big ones after a couple weeks playing and during week evening showings.
What I would also say though is looking at booking system and taking as gospel how many seats sold is VERY inaccurate.
From experience it is just not reality once you are in the particular screening.
Not sure what happens (company blanks out sections in hope of walk ins or there are unlimited holder and other no shows) The how or why I do not know. What I do know from hundreds of visits and booking online is it is often not the reality.
He would prob have more luck going as part of insulate Britain haha
Haha!
That wasn't you sat in our seats was it Lat?
Had to have that 'awkward conversation'!!
Hes probably lurking outside dressed as a martian holding a nuclear warhead deterring cinema goers ...!
Yeah, our Cine here in Sheff is a monster!
But so heartening to see it and the adjoining restaurants on the park thriving.
People want to go out.
Great atmosphere in the Cine bar at the top as well, watching the huge queues for popcorn, nachos etc..
If this Cineworld is anything to go by then concessions and alcohol etc will be way up percentage-wise across the board when the next results are out.
The people are rabid for it!
Haha Sammy, this is true , but I simply can't be arsed lol, the reply will he can you prove you made that call.
I don't believe the Sunday night viewing has zero people there when the 15.40 on the Monday has 17 at present.
Maybe he's also outside making sure no walk ins have attended.
Must have missed you on the revolving doors Crumpets. Glad you found the numbers as I did.
All it would take is a phone call to Cine Leeds to verify if the cinema is empty or Dunster is a liar
Simples
Been in Sheffield this weekend doubling a shopping trip with enjoyment and just got back in from doing a double header of Venom Let There Be Carnage and Halloween Kills at Cineworld. Both good films in their own right btw and worth seeing and what a cinema that is !!
The place was packed and both Venom and Halloween Kills have taken very good money this weekend. Bond also.
By all means focus on the US in looking at Box Office but do not lose sight of the UK as I personally feel that it is getting close to or exceeding 100% of pre-pandemic levels now.
I also had a good look at the big shopping centre in Sheffield today as well (Meadowhall I think) and it was similarly packed and I'd say about 90% probably 95% of those inside were not wearing masks. The conclusion I drew was that as far as the public are concerned the pandemics over.
Roll on our next trading update.
Blue Buxton you must have had an anomoly with your trailers yesterday. Venom's had many today including Morbius, Spiderman No Way Home, The 355 and Dune (All looked really good) Halloween Kill's trailers were Last Night in Soho, Resident Evil and several other horror type films.
Fun I say Danster is bull****t1ng
Anyone can say a film AFTER its started when it can't be checked to say noone is there , on top of that how would he be know if he wasn't.
On top of that the quiet Monday afternoon showing at 1540 currently has 17 booked.
Says it all
Enjoy Danster. Thankfully UK box office is clearly recorded as being actually higher than pre pandemic in recent weeks so feel lucky :-)
Bond 20.40 showing at Leeds tonight not one person in attendance as of now
MoneyP1t with the release schedule we have I am reasonably confident one of the two remaining weeks will be another c. $100m or more one. The other could be weaker just down to what and when we have releases.
Otherwise I would be super confident of the $700m.
Those big movies make unbelievable difference and as one of recent articles suggests they may become ever more important.
Audiences ",may" go less and "only" go for these tentpoles in the main.
That would so far seem to have some grounds for consideration as we have seen far less "filler to mid range" cinema releases.
Less visits but higher spend per visit could be the business future.
Early days, let's see after another couple q's box office and financials.
Just to point out that every weekend this month has brought in more than $100m, that is three weekends on the bounce. We haven't even done two weekends on the bounce before this month in 2021, so if we can keep that going (and it is a stretch as FI said, but totally possible) then what a great way to kick of Q4 and say with confidence that cinema is back!
