The world is littered with companies that do just that !!!!!
Whenever I’ve heard Chris Bogart asked about competitors coming to our market he has always welcomed competition but stressed how much financially is needed in tandem with expertise???? We have that in spades others will try and many will fail !!! The market you are talking about is oversubscribed already in my opinion and what would our USP that others don’t already have ??? No IMHO we should let the small fry deal with small fry , it’s not like they have any expertise to creep up on us !!! Also whilst our wage bill must be extortionate due to the quality of our team , it is importantly a small team rather than what would be needed for your plan !!!
Finally I personally think our growth will come from a massive increased need and investing in individual law firms total cases !!!
ffc it's about offering the legal system / Lawyers near instant funding for medical negligence cases and taking the 12 months wait out of the governments legal aid system, also ordinary good solid straight forward cases that any lawyer knows win,
It's about helping the unfortunate not preying on the unfortunate as you state, it's about helping lawyers get near instant funding to help the sick and quite often underprivileged in society, quite often law practices struggle with funding , even though they have good cases on there books.
The reason I think it's a good idea is that it would bring in a steady income stream to stabilise our income going forward, we should never turn away any money making idea's in the legal system, it's just plain stupid, it's easier just taking the bigger
Corporate case's ok, it's harder work setting up a system and funding thousands of lawyers offices, but it can be done , take profits from everywhere if we can, and build up a worldwide network of income streams. Think big and " small. " that way our income in the long run will have steady pattern. If we want to be the very best then we need to look at every avenue of litigation funding, " or someone else wil "
It's good to be challenged ffc, that way I'm pushed to explain my thinking around this subject. Though I do know exactly where your coming from ok.
CHEERS EVERYONE
" Burfords needs to think outside of corporate litigation" mmmmmmm
And after that why don't they start calling all our mobiles to ask " we hear you've been involved in a car accident "
Sorry TB but I have to disagree as I don't want to but part of the bottom feeders praying on the unfortunate !! If that were to happen I'd join some of the idiots that only recently were calling for our founders heads !!!
I Very much appreciated that investors link jammyc ,
I’ve just finished listening to it, I was very impressed with the very high level of detail given by all the participants, I actually really enjoyed it , which surprised me ,
It had a very upbeat enthusiastic feeling around it,
Our share price ? what a brilliant smashing of that £6 barrier and heading on up to £7.50p , that was a fantastic sight to witness, we all knew it would give way to profit taking and speculative day traders , good luck to them now, because there very that will stop our share price soaring in the coming days weeks months years , its all to look forward too, I’m extremely happy and excited about Burfords future now, there’s just so much untapped potential to explore with Burfords business model, there’s assorts of bolt ons that can easily slot into Burfords offerings to the legal system,
I actually don’t care if Burfords shares drop somewhat tomorrow , as Burford now has all the ingredients to take the company to a much higher valuation and share price, this really is one to tuck away for retirement, it’s a absolute money making machine, as long as you have large law firms needing substantial funding needs , then we can easily cater for that need, I actually think this market is much bigger than even Burford may realise, what if they tried to take a big chunk out of the basic straight forward medical negligence case market, yes don’t just go for the mega deals , set up smaller branches around the world to fund the medical cases that are on paper black and white straight forward, the national health is paying out billions every year to lawyers and patients, why not target this area around the world, the magnitude of legal opportunities is enormous, Burfords needs to think outside of corporate litigation and be a near complete supplier of litigation funding around the world, the scope to grow profits is off the scale in my reckoning,
The share price can yo-yo all it wants now, but the trajectory will be mostly all uphill from now on , and heading way past any older historic highs of the past, the futures really bright and rewarding for Burford and us it’s shareholders. It’s been a great day with many many more ones to come,
Good luck to everyone on this great journey.
Cheers everyone.
Obviously my projection is tongue in cheek, but possible, due to the magic of compounding and the business model. Whether an IRR of 24% can be maintained is debatable. With more capital targeting the same opportunities, margins must give. On the flip side , in the future, I believe the addressable market will become enlarged and less rigorous underwriters may get burnt and serve to deter market entry. Regardless, I think this share has massive upside opportunity and this was reinforced by the presentation earlier today.
Yuri, don’t need to sell Burford to retire, but I do like Jammy’s projection when I am a 65 year old, that’s 13 years away, holding nearly 44,000 shares would come to some ridiculous figure, might be worth the wait ?
BigBaggerHungry - what if it for some unexpected reasons doesn't work out here? Swapping plans to 65?
Jammy, nice work with your projections,
Looking at the brokers, although don’t always believe what I read............
“6 brokers have issued twelve-month target prices for Burford Capital's shares. Their forecasts range from GBX 500 to GBX 2,600. On average, they anticipate Burford Capital's stock price to reach GBX 1,074 in the next twelve months. This suggests a possible upside of 82.3% from the stock's current price.”. The average for the next 12 months seems to come sooner than your projection, I will be interested to see the broker forecast updates over the coming days. I presume there will be brokers in the USA that will be acting as well in the future.
I won’t be around in 2100, I’m 52 now, looking at retirement at 56
This time next year Rodney !!!
BBH I’m not sixty yet and I’m planning on spending some of my multi bagger here b4 my girls get a look in so I’m quite partial to Jammies calculations !!!!!
And yes I do believe in Santa!!!
If we take the conservative approach and use the lower rate of IRR @ 24% (which has been maintained over a 10 year period and apply it to todays SP close of 671.8, we get:
2021 = 833
2022 = 1032
2023 = 1280
2024 = 1588
2025 = 1969
2026 = 2442
2027 = 3028
2028 = 3755
2029 = 4656
2030 = 5773
2031 = 7159
2032 = 8877
2033 = 11,008
2034 = 13,650
2035 = 16,926
Ok, i'm bored now and guess you are too, but you get the point. Burford is a compounding machine:

BigBaggerHungry - Would you like it to get to £100 by the end of 2100 ? (3.3% sp growth pa)
FFC , I like your prediction of £100, do you have a time scale ?
I should be worth around 4.35mil if you are correct
Not ridiculous at all Jammy as I’ve got a good few years before I pop my clogs !!!!!
I was just musing as usual but for the benefit of those that haven’t read my rubbish before , as Jammy says it’s a long way off yet ! Lol
Also when we list on the American market there's a awful lot of buyers that have to buy our companies shares as part of there share purchasing system / institutions, the multitude of ETF exchange traded funds , they all have a requirement to hold
X amount of burfords shares, we then have private investors and we've all probably seen them chasing the American market up lately,, So I'm expecting a much higher burford share price on and after the 19th of October, it's going to be a fantastic year end and magical Xmas for burfords shareholders.
CHEERS EVERYONE
100 may sound ridiculous but when you consider the IRR and the effect of compounding, its not pie in the sky. One step at a time though. Lets hope this momentum continues beyond the US waking up today and the Investigator call. Would be great if we could close at a intra day high.
Al the best to the LTH and whose just awaking to the potential here.
Nice to see the results were really good as I was initially disappointed given the strong start to the year ! Think I’d worked myself up to believe that would continue!! Clearly the market is not disappointed so with a bit of luck we may actually get to a deserved higher starting point before the 19th ??? ..
I stupidly missed out on not adding yesterday morning then stupidly left it until this morning so paid a bigger premium but at least they’ve gone on from there !
As some have already said ,the BOD are to be congratulated (I’ve always believed in you) so I’ll be here a good while yet as I firmly believe these will be £100 a share by the time my two daughters get to benefit !!!
I look around trying to find other investments on a regular basis but none give me the confidence that bur do so I’m seriously overweight here ! right now the doesn’t concerned me so roll on the new listing for a couple weeks excitement then I’ll try to take a break for a few months until the Petersen case unfolds.

ffc
I guess the share really didn't like £6
wait until the American market opens, might hit 850 today....
Great results BUR. More to come.
Well done BUR. one of the best results seen during the worse economic downturn in history.
So much more to come!! Look forward to the investor call, it is also nice to be back in profit.
Bit of Zebedee action early doors but this looks like breakout territory now?
I'm desperately hoping uk investors can get our share price up to a reasonable level to avoid the American market from getting our shares to cheaply, though it's looking like they won't by the second looking at our share price, we're all cleared by the American authorities to list, our profits are fantastic and getting better with the perceived increased workload coming our way, the YPF CASE will settle for a huge amount of money, what's not to like about burford right now, a now nearing complete return of confidence with burford will insure a return to a multi billion pound /dollar valuation and share price.
I couldn't be happier right now .
CHEERS EVERYONE
Big spread I put in a buy order they wanted 635
But my sell only got a 620 offer
MMs don’t know what to make of it or just greedy ??? Mmmmmmmm
