its a classic action when theres a shortage of stock. a mark higher in the morning to draw in some sellers followed by a drop to draw in a few more. biffa shares have seen this action periodically over the last 12 months.
That 3.16 was a ut trade this morning maybe short off stock .I want to no who’s bought all of Avenue Europe International Management, L.P. shares they have been selling down.
morning spike @316 then dropped to 308 within 2 mins ?
what worries me is that there may be poachers lurking. it ticks all the right boxes as isnt very expensive. a lots of brownie points to be gained pulling this one off. id quite like to hold on to this one for a long time, any bid is likely to cut our fingers off if looking at it longer term.
13M worth of buys yesterday, look at the volume for the 22nd. Might see a TR1 soon?

Robust company. Country leader. Recession proof. High profits. Green. Government supported. Essential service.
3rd of the way to a fair price imo. Not one to make outrageous claims. Just read this in 2 years. It got everything going for it
this one is supported by esg flows which wont be ending any time soon. certainly a very bright future and well worth holding on to.
Biffa reports excellent progress against its sustainability targets
£1bn of investment in UK green infrastructure already unlocked - well ahead of plans
Biffa plc ('Biffa', 'the Group' or 'the Company') (LSE: BIFF), has today published its first sustainability report, one year on from the launch of its long-term sustainability strategy 'Resourceful, Responsible.'
The report reaffirms the Group's ambitious sustainability targets as part of its wider commitment to helping solve the UK's waste challenge
Key progress highlights
· Group well on track to achieving target of unlocking £1.25bn of much needed investment in UK green economy infrastructure by 2030 with £1bn already realised.
· Group announces pathway to achieving net zero emissions, no later than 2050.
Building a circular economy
· Doubled the Group's plastics recycling capacity with investments in its facilities in the North East.
· Established the Group's position as a leader in UK surplus redistribution through the acquisition of Company Shop Group, enabling a unique circular economy proposition for customers and providing support for the communities most in need.
· Newhurst and Protos energy from waste ('EfW') construction projects commenced and on track - underpinning UK's capability to domestically manage its own non-recyclable waste.
Tackling climate change
On track to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, having reduced emissions by 70% since 2002.
· Significant progress in creating the UK's lowest carbon waste collection service through an active M&A programme, reducing carbon intensity of services and positioning the Group to transition to alternative fuels.
· Roll out of UK's first fully electric fleet of electric refuse vehicles on behalf of Manchester City Council.
· Expansion of rail network to replace road haulage for the movement of inert waste, helping to save over 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions since 2019.
Biffa: Numis reiterates buy with a target price of 355p.hope they are correct
This acquisition seems to have flown under the radar
It recently agreed terms to acquire Scotland's only post-consumer plastics recycling facility from Green Circle Polymers for £10mln.
This will add an extra 50,000 tonnes of treatment capability and is expected to play a role in the Scottish Government's Deposit Return Scheme which comes into effect in July 2022.
Interesting to see Viridor making its way from PNN (which I have held for some time) gradually to here. The market certainly liked the acquisition, putting the SP up nigh on 6%
Justin Urquhart Stuart article. "Investors can clean up from War on Waste" Waste management is becoming very important
to all companies and countries. BIFFA say their statement of intent is "to change the way people think about waste"
Justin says BUY BUY BUY.
Biffa to supply recycled plastic to ALPLA to make homecare items more recyclable
Sustainable waste manager Biffa and the UK arm of Austrian-based ALPLA Group, a world leader in the development, production and recycling of plastic packaging, are to work together to ensure more British recycled plastic is used in the manufacturing of UK homecare products.
From May, Biffa will provide polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) plastic pellets from its recycling facility in Seaham, County Durham, to ALPLA UK. The material will be used in the production of homecare product packaging, increasing the amount of recycled plastic used in everyday household items such as washing up bottles, detergent and cleaning sprays.
The partnership is the latest development in Biffa’s strategy to create a circular economy for plastic in the UK. By replacing virgin plastic used in packaging with recycled plastic, the lifespan of plastic can become infinite when it is continually recycled and put back into packaging supply chains.

I like the company long term but sold out 2 months ago .Think with businesses constant open closing especially pubs restaurants lack off clean recycle material there recycling facilities will not be running at 100%.On the 2nd lock down tiers said they wouldn’t be furloughing any staff so maybe now extra staff doing nothing.
Biffa look as though they have weathered the storm from earlier this year but the current restrictions will be a concern, particularly for collections from the hospitality sector. I am not sure if the dividend will return in the spring as it may be too early. If it does, even at a reduced level, I would expect the sp to respond. I also anticipate further expansion/market consolidation as smaller waste businesses get into difficulty.
As you say, a steady and solid company that seems to have a good ethical foundation.
Nice steady solid company. Will also be here and a few projects in the pipeline. One my largest holdings. Welcome mate
I've been looking into Biffa for a while now, finally invested A small amount, but may increase over time. They are very undervalued, so hoping that over time they increase.
Thinking that there is already, and going to be a bigger need for removal of clinical waste (All types and styles of Covid tests) minimal research got me to Biffa. Any thoughts on the subject appreciated. Many thanks
Ive been bere a while. Essential service that will of cleared up those who couldnt sustain the dry spell due to our epemding power. Lovely share and upside. Quality company.
Held these shares for a while now and things are ticking along nicely for Biffa. Recent acquisition is a real positive and demonstrates the strength here. Long term this feels like a very safe investment.
Well I was wrong there. New shares now in and a fair bit of profit
Thanks Riffgo, your opinion is always appreciated. Yes i was lucky, one advantage of being furloughed I guess. Think I will leave it for now, like you no hurry here.
A couple of nice technical chart point make this a buy . Firstly, the sell off held the 23.6% fib at 200, and secondly , todays gap up opening creates an island reversal... Usually a pretty powerful buy signal. 222, the 38.2 % fib the next hurdle, and a close above it signals 256.
