Archil Gachechiladze, Bank of Georgia's CEO commented: "I am delighted that Bank of Georgia will continue to offer its superior wealth management services from this new office in the heart of Tbilisi. The opening of the office in such a historically significant and symbolic building in the capital coincides with a creation of a new brand identity of Bank of Georgia's Wealth Management business, which is grounded on the virtues of both Georgia and the Bank. The country has superior qualities to offer to investors: it is politically and economically stable; it has an exceptionally healthy and profitable financial sector, and it is one of the best countries in the world to do business. Bank of Georgia is innovative, experienced and a highly trustworthy financial partner in Georgia - all of which makes it best suited to become the regional hub for private banking."
Big Increase on Friday and fall today with higher volume. Not sure on the reason unless its institutions buying position.
Day, any clues as to the reason for quite a hefty drop
Now, that loan of circa 50 million pounds was taken in GEL and not dollars, perhaps they saw this coming and was a shrewd move
It has not performed since the reorganisation and now banks have been hit by trade wars. Detractors were perhaps right to be worried and if Erdogan doesn't change his tune maybe BGEO will struggle even though Georgia GDP grows the banks may have contagion from the Turkish Lira
Think this has got caught up in the US sanctions on Turkey and Russia. Hoping for some good 1st Half results on Friday, but may be waiting a while for it to recover
That was a f*****g ****e day, wonder how long it will take to recover, if it ever does.
I think it's an F.OFF to Trump and his dollars, hope it's a good move.I'm not an expert in FX, but I guess it make sense if that's what your customers will be repaying it in.
getting the loan in lari is either a vote of confidence in Georgia or a vote against the euro. Maybe both. Anyway I think it shows the bank has plenty of loans to make.
I should have added that it is a volatille share because of folk taking a contrary view to mine- their loss or clever trading made possible due to these opposite views.
cunningfox-I think I read that this share was capitalised at only 50% of its value-supposedly I presume to reflect the fact it was invaded by its neighbour. Its neighbour is doing very well and its leader will visit the US soon. Georgia is a very hard working nation that gets on with things and BGEO is plugged into it. Erdogan is popular with a lot of his people and overall does not impact negatively either. I have been surprised how many US citizens visit Georgia. The management get plenty of share options but no obscene pay rises as in UK so the dividends are good. I am hoping the only way is up.
Whats anyones views on the drop today and reasons, CGEO took a big fall yesterday too, thought i'd been clever taking a few grand Doh !
looks to be about 75.8p div when averaged. 52.6p drop on top of that then. No sign of a special div being coughed up yet maybe it won't happen. I expect BGEO and CGEO are doing OK though.
ex - dividend today
Thank you very much for that information about the dividend and special dividend. I can buy shares in this but for some reason my broker is not allowing me to buy shares in the new company which is also apparently a ftse 250 company now so I will need to get in contact with them and ask for the reason. Thanks again.
I thought a special dividend and dividend are due which should total 1.50 pounds. The SPs of BGEO and CGEO will probably be volatile as BGEO was before demerger. As the shares reflect Georgian progress as a country which should be good then they are just a hold and the staff look forward to good payouts as do we.
The value of the demerged companies combined is down quite a bit on the price here immediately prior to the demerger yet the last update on profits was very rosy so wonder if this demerger has caused a few sellers to be taken advantage of. Time will tell.
Anybody able to accurately measure this company's worth post the demerger.
well done mate , i nearly done the same but greed kicked in , lets as see what happens tomorrow .
Got in at 1860p last week and out at 2106p. Decent 10 percenter.
