driftking27, momentum is king here for now, also for bab******* and other defence sector cos.
of course, results from ba. could change things tomorrow, barclays say it could be the catalyst to send the sp much higher. their optimistic target is 1500p !!
Rheinmetall have just confirmed they are building a new munitions factory in saxony, full spectrum production of 200k shells per year, total German production 700k PA. It's a private venture as they foresee the need to overproduce to replenish the empty storage facilities. I can't quite see BA doing the same or the UK government signing off the bill, but lets hope other countries sign a contract at the very least.
The P/e of LMT is around 15.7 times 2024 earnings
BAE stands at 20 times 2023 earnings until 21st.
Think this will undoubtedly have a pull back.against FTSE it’s too high I’m afraid, though graphs say differently
Same. Been here since 2010… steady eddy. Possibly best steady eddy
Driftking27, I'll admit to have sold some recently as I bought at 400p, but hold some still in anticipation of further rises.
Out yesterday from Norway:
Russia gaining upper hand in Ukraine war - Norway intel
Russia is gaining the advantage in the war in Ukraine owing to a greater number of troops and materiel supplied by China, North Korea and other countries, Norway's intelligence service has warned.
Presenting its annual risk report along with other Norwegian security services, the head of the military intelligence unit Nils Andreas Stensønes said Ukraine would need "extensive" Western military aide to turn the situation around.
"In this war, Russia is currently in a stronger position than it was a year ago and is in the process of gaining the advantage," Mr Stensønes told reporters.
He said Russia "could mobilise around three times more troops than Ukraine", that "Moscow is tackling sanctions better than expected", and its industry can now produce enough munitions, combat vehicles, drones and missiles to enable its troops to "maintain their war effort all year."
Russia is also receiving military support from North Korea, Iran, Belarus and China, he added.
A tank firing at Bakhmut where fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces continues
China had not supplied arms, but "machines, vehicles, electronics, and spare parts" needed by Russia's arms industry.
"Extensive Western weapons aid would be needed for Ukrainian forces to be able to defend themselves and regain the initiative in the conflict," Mr Stensønes said.
He highlighted Ukraine's requests for munitions, long-distance weapons, air defences, tanks and fighter jets.
Norway has, together with Denmark and the Netherlands, agreed to provide Ukraine with the F-16 fighter jets it has requested from its allies.
"Norway and Europe must be ready to take more responsibility to ensure their own security and that of their allies," Norwegian defence minister Bjørn Arild Gram said.
The US has been Ukraine's main military donor since Russia's invasion in February 2022.
However, Congress has failed to agree on new aid and the prospect of Donald Trump returning to the White House have put greater responsibility on Europe to step up.
This might turn the lights on for the dozy European so-called 'leaders' and BA., BAB, etc... to benefit ?
My buy went through today and is showing as "unknown"
Can we compare earnings of the 2?
Since January 24th, LMT has had its SPT reduced by around 2-3% by at least 7 that I have reviewed.
Lockmartin have an order book of .$160bn, but are FEDS going to grow defence spending like UK?
This is a hold after checking LMT results 23rd Jan.
LOCKHEAD MARTIN beat on there estimates, BUT there were no assurances about profit margins growing. This is why it has dropped 9% since 23rd Jan.
Hope BAE does not have similar effect.
Target price? The target price is based on the world of tomorrow. Know one knows.
Just like the start of the Ukraine war .
I’m saying look at graph and forward to 2034. If you’re invested, you need to broaden your mindset on silly SPT.
It could be 2034p by 2034! We coujd another burst bubble, we coujd gave another asteroid come close to hitting earth, we coujd have another world virus, anything is possible, but just sit tight, BAE has been picking up steam of late.
I’m not a seller. Are you?

Good to see bae at all time high. If the Saudis confirm jet order we could see this heading for 1500 :)
With the forever wars on-going and middle east conflict this is sure a winner.
I reckon this could easily hit £15 by EOY 2024. BAE is winning contracts left, right and centre – busy collaborating with Rheinmetall, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, Leonardo, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries... huge order backlog as we all know. Can only see SP going up.
From what I've read the Royal Navy does not have the support vessels to push either of these white elephants out from dock
Just wondering as I can see our inability to have a carrier in the red sea as a handicap
When you look at what is a 65Bn order book that's going years into the future, arms being pumped into Ukraine, the middle East and the woeful defence budget spend in NATO as a whole this could really pop and delivery needed to be geared up. If you think that say the UK defence budget needs to double to counter our small navy and airforce, BA, RR & BAB should do well. SO to answer your question BA target price of + 30% on todays prices given the war drums beating as they are
Not optimistic if Saudi's do buy 48 Typhoons. Decision now cannot be far away.
I haven't done a deep-dive into the accounts (sums are not my forte), but aside form the benefit to BAE, I think that AA sounds like a well-run company, geographically and economically well-positioned in the aviation sector and as such I'm intending to have a punt, despite already being a bit over-exposed in airlines. Has anyone had a closer look at the books and developed an opinion?
As a separate topic, how do we go about getting a London Southeast forum set up for Air Astana?
https://www.lse.co.uk/news/air-astana-set-to-raise-120m-by-floating-in-london-and-kazakhstan-skc37phhrm2q71x.html
I'm hoping personally for £13 but that could be a bit optimistic. Who knows with the current global climate..?
Don’t matter conflict keep us up
....down 2.69%
This is future right here
