I do think something's afoot, not a buy-out as some are suggesting, but something along those lines - no idea re the timing. I also note there was another non-exec director buy today, small volume, 2,000, but a buy nonetheless. You could be right Trendz, "we've seen the bottom"
I’m a bit puzzled about the 6-7% fall today. Poor results but they were actually slightly better than forecast and for me I see signs of recovery. Let’s see if we get a bounce back to £9 over the next few weeks. I do think we’ve seen the bottom here, so could attract new institutional investors for the recovery play. Bon chance !
Evan
There is no time limit on "insider dealing" if directors are privy to information (that is not in the public domain) that could effect the share price in a substantial way they are barred from share dealing.
There is a built in time period between directors trading and major news (think it is 2 months but someone correct me if that is wrong).....so again I will state tha the drectors did not buy ~£430K of shares in lat october on a collective whim....something they are aware of has triggered this mass purchase....
I think it is a takeover....you disagree....also fine....the great thing is time will reveal the actual reason (maybe a large order instead, which would also be good)
Evan
No way is there a take over on the horizon, the directors would be in desperate trouble should they announce any major event, having just bought substantial number of shares.
Avon has been a takeover rumour for 20 years or so, perhaps it will happen, but I am not holding my breath.
The very large director purchases came too close to results date to be related to that, which means that they purchased ~£430K worth of shares based on something else that will become apparent in or around Christmas at the earliest....
But the results look like quite a significant beat on expectations. The earnings per share is 40.3c against 26.2c forecast (as per stockopedia). Results were always going to look bad to outsiders but looks like a decent recovery is underway?
Oh dear, the narrative reads very different from the results ...
****e imv. i read the ceo commentary which is totally at odds with the reality in the numbers. no wonder the sp has fallen over the last few years. i only hope his optimism for next year is welcomed by the market.
..should be an interesting day tomorrow (results day). I suspect the results are good, or rather their trading statement, 30-Spetember, already suggests so. Hopefully there's a spectacular announcement, else I suspect the SP will be flat, if not fall, i.e. when results are in line with market expectations the price dips. a little
I think a buyout by a larger defense company is coming and I thought that the current ceo was brought on board with that specifically planned (he has history with handling company buyouts) I think that the timing of the directors buys indicates that an offer could be coming in December......
all speculation on my part DYOR
I suspect the results (and I don't have any inside info btw) will be flat and in line with expectations (which typically deflates SPs). That said there could be some sort of announcement woven into the results which might help stabilise or even boost the SP - we'll see. Holding for now. Views
..don't disagree with you Evan... Results on the 21st, though I tend to think they are already baked into the SP weeks beforehand, knowledge of same always seems to be out there in advance, I don't know how, but it is. That said, I've upped my view from 'weak buy' to 'buy' (IMO)
I guess we will know by Christmas what prompted the directors to buy >£432K worth of shares within days of each other in mid-October
If anyone knows big news is coming the directors do.....
Profit taking, need to redirect to another opportunity, could be any number of reasons....
I don't think we will get some immediate significant news as there are rules preventing directors trading close to major news but something is definitely brewing here.... directors don't commit to the size of purchase that we witnessed past week without something significant driving it...
..(all) what's your theories on todays drop? IMO - perhaps some of the froth from the last 6 - 7 days of climbs being blown away.. Still fancy this share will head northwards; no signs of director sell offs, defence sector stock is a sound place to be at the moment (sadly), and I suspect there's some sort of announcement waiting in the wings.
I dont think that its because they sence something, I believe its because they know something.
Hmmm I don't disagree with your comments. But it could it just be the obvious, i.e. the situation in the ME which is clearly going to get worse before it stabilises and hopefully gets better. That pushes investor sentiment to believe any defence sector product will be in high demand - regardless of the specifics. I defo. believe this share will continue northwards in the short term IMO
Up by a third in a month and directors pilling in. I'm looking forward to finding out what the directors already know
1 RNS indicating automatic share allocation... nothing spectacular in that
2nd RNS shows another director making a not insignificant purchase.
Buying not because they 'must' as some here would have you believe but because they sense something in the future that will be profitable for them and in turn those of us who have averaged down in recent months.... I look forward to finding out what has prompted the directors to fill their boots and put some serious skin in the game
Rude comment Effluent.
