Divi arrived in Hargreaves and reinvested. SP probably drop later but happy to hold long term.
No special paid unfortunately..
I don’t think we had a 7p special last year. I’ll double check but I think we got a 7p interim followed by 14p final. We all hoped that there would be a special to compensate for the scrapped div when the Banks were advised to hold off declaring dividends due to financial uncertainty caused by pandemic. L&G kept theirs but AV dropped an already declared one.
Well, another down day & another bag full purchased. Guess if I can make 10P/ share tomorrow it's better than 15p on half as many.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Half baked :) Like it.
Does anyone know when last years special of 7p was announced? Kinda expecting something similar this year (not the chunks others are hoping for).
I hadn’t made the Norwich connection! I’d probably have given AV a miss if I’d thought they’d be as half baked as Delia’s footballers. Never mind we’re in it now and we’re staying for the foreseeable.
I think it's the canary football effect on the old Norwich Union , they suffer the yo yo effect too ...
Don’t yoyo’s go up as well as down !!
The usual yo yo effect ....
Obviously hoping to see a decent SP in the near future but happy to reinvest the divi at these levels tomorrow.
I am a long term holder of Aviva and will look to buy at any price dips under £4 which I think is a fair price for a Yield of around 5%
IMHO I wouldn't worry too much about the dividends here in the short term Zinc.
I bought 2 bag fulls last week, sold 1 yesterday & repurchased later on. Sold another bag this afternoon. One more to off load at something closer to £4.10. Or it falls below £4 again tomorrow & I repurchase. Expect to see £4.10 on Thurs for dividend payment day. But if it doesn't get near I'm comfortable holding on top of my long term holdings a quality stock for any period.

Yes, I'm saving the country with my stamp duties.
Strictly. Always a bit of a minefield for the P.i but I enjoy it. I'm thinking to add some more also. Best of luck with your dealing.
So much luck rather than judgement. I’ve taken a very large position - for me - at 400 and I’m as confident I’ve the fundamentals here than anywhere. Interestingly there are many contradictions on investor sites - typically for AV I have read dividend cover is excellent at 2.9 and another site says poor cover is the biggest risk. Minefield for the unwary!
thought about buying more this morning @ 397p..but deciced to stick to my guns and only add below 390p .....mistake..maybe
Would be more than happy to reinvest mine at £5 ;-)
Lower SP is ok by me. Don't want to reinvest my divi over 4 quid
I think £4.30 maybe the target for a lot of people watching this to break through I would be heading toward that direction next week however if we fail this then a further down trend.
No doubt pork loves the general disruption he obviously craves. Easily solved dump him in the filter box, no longer to be heard.
Porsche the schoolboy is back. Still thinks Andy Briggs had some sort of major input. Andy Briggs was CEO UK Insurance . Andy Briggs took the role following the acquisition of Friends Life where he was Group Chief Executive.
So Porsche, rather than being such a div, do your research and get your facts correct.
If people cannot see through some of the trash you post here they should look at your posts on other companies. Pure comedy gold. I can only assume you have lost a few weeks pocket money at some point due to your amateurish way of investing. Hence you banale and immature rantings.
Nice I’m able to buy at these prices and long term plenty of money for them to venture into other areas £4.10. Seems fair but I’d say higher
:)
Porsche. Just looking for a positive post about anything from you. There aren't any.
The thing is, next week is dividend payment day & this mornings £3.90 will look cheap when the auto re-investments hit.
Looking for £4.10 next week.
Strong buy no reason to fail
God these dividend stocks are pointless, this pos has lost half its value in ten years and currently doing even worse than it did under Andy Briggs which is saying something. Ftse now where it was 21 years ago, the fact they are listed on an index in a country with a collapsing currency and perceived quite rightly as a self harming political basket case, doesnt help. Avoid, back to 3.60/3.70.
The 750 million is only 5% of Aviva’s market capital so isn’t exactly the golden goose laying the golden egg. Aviva has downsized which the market doesn’t seem very impressed with so once the cash pile has been distributed ( eventually) where does that leave Aviva?
As so rightly pointed out in the past by many posters the special Divi will drop the sp by the same amount but can Av. recover. This share can lose 2-3% in a day so the buyback is a waste of time. It makes the bod look as if they are doing something meaningful and helps justify their bonus.
My thoughts are this, If under the new strategy of the company we are selling non core profit making businesses and using the funds received to purchase shares the earnigs per share will not increase and may go down in the short term. Thats why the SP is not moving. What will make a difference to the EPS is the cost savings being implemented by the company but these will take time to come through. So although I think the SP will improve to 430-450 but you may have to wait 6-12 months to see this. I am holding and adding on weakness (like today). And looking forward to the safe dividend and maybe a special dividend in the spring. Now the rain has stopped I can walk my best friend.
