Now here is the confusion on DBX numbers. I remember 6 or 8 months ago when unit numbers were being talked about there was something written stating around 400+ would be needed for dealerships and road test reports. Launches are still occuring in far flung countries so AML have needed to position a good chunk of early production with dealers. I'm assuming the the 345 figure relates to customer deliveries.
It's a tough one....
They sold 345 DBXs, year to date.
If you extrapolate that to full year, that's 1380, which is low, so let's hope it picks up.
Stroll would have been shouting from the rooftops if it had been a high number.
Anyone who thinks this is a quick profit company is deluded, its going to take 3/4 years to see a turnaround in AML.
10% coupon on new bonds close to £1bn is £100M per annum in interest repayable every year. That;s why they had to do what they did, very little margin for error, and no profit for a good while yet.
Karanable is spot in IMHO.
It's interesting that you highlight the Reichman issues, which I raised on this BB last week. People were generally unhappy with my comments, but I posted with the best of intentions. As an ex CEO, CFO and MD of a luxury brand manufacturing company I believe I have an insight into the issue. There is a tension between aesthetics and the engineering solution to aerodynamics, cooling and packaging. I watched the documentary on the DBS with Reichman and it suggested to me that he lacked imagination and so the car became engineering solution led. For example, the back end of the DB11 and particularly the front splitter lack aesthetic innovation. The front splitter looks like a plank. The same is true on the DBS. The profile of the car is fine, the back end above the number plate is poor and the front grill is just nonsense. The Bond Edition of the DBS is a big improvement, save for the wheels. Since the late 1950's with the original Touring design for the DB4 Aston have used a similar style grill and have had a side strake. These elements along with a fly off hand brake and window lift switches either side of a clock in the centre of the dash were hard won styling ques that have been gradually abandoned. Car companies pay a fortune to develop unique defining features and Reichman has just binned them. I have the benefit of being close to the product and having been involved with the issue of aesthetics and engineering solutions, it is my opinion that in every case the aesthetics must win out. The chief designer not only has to have imagination, but also be a strong leader to force engineering to solve the problems in a different way. For sure there have to be compromises, buy Reichman designs just don't cut it. I thought a 5 year old could have put a better front end on the DB10 and it seems that the front of the car is his stumbling block at the moment. Unfortunately the DBX has the same problem....I am very disappointed. I have made my feelings know to Aston Martin and the sales were diplomatic but it was clear they are not happy. Aston also need to ditch the bad by drug dealer image of mat paint and black wheels. This is why I say Reichman must go.
Change your broker. His talking from his backside.
Leon. Not true. You can buy and sell as we speak and also on Friday.
Hi to everybody, I’m new here and I also hold same shares from Aston.

I have one question, I get info from my broker that since Friday will happen a rivers split from Aston shares and for the time I can not buy more or sell.
has somebody more information, I cannot find no news about reverse split.
Sorry for my bad English ??
Wish all of you nice day!

I've read a few reports and comments regarding last week's phone in and Q and A.
One writer said he was concerned that a number for ordered DBXs was not given. Said if the model was a runaway success then the Directors would be shouting the figures from the rooftops. I beg to disagree on that as it was stated the order book stretched to the end of the first quarter and incoming orders are matching full production. My take on that is 2,000 units currently on order and weekly orders of around 90. A little over 12 months ago Lamborghini were quoting between four and six months depending on spec. Special body and trim colours would put delivery back.
The other comment I read and I've seen this before from one or two sources concerned the fact that Marek Reichman was not at the phone in and because of the flop of the new Vantage and questionable front end of the DBS, he should he replaced - sacked in other words. Undoubtedly, the Vantage has been a huge disappointment and part of that is front end styling. The other part was it's high price. Both these have been addressed, the new pricing applying in the US. Reichman has a predilection for massive grilles that I certainly don't share, but he's not alone when you consider many other car manufacturers. But he's lost some of the grace that AML was renowned for.
i hope you got back in ;)
FTSE is up that's why we are down as we always seem to be up when FTSE is down LOL

The last lockdown was announced on the 23rd of March and surprisingly the FTSE was up on that day. It seems that the FTSE is not affected this time around either by the look of the future market. Good news overall
No, thank goodness ;)
my guess ...AML weighed up the cost .......of producing over 10000 units .....
against hefty........ fines and decided agains....it....for now...
but when........ AML produce 20 to 30 percent EV.......units .....then theoretically...... they could produce over 10000 units
as the...........EV units off set the CO2 emissions..........from ICE units...
I m sure..... its all in Toby s plan....................
Ha yes jtrader that's probably why they stated 10k units when the factory could produce 14k. Just looked back at previous year volumes and my god I did not realise aston had so little output. No wonder they struggled without the economy of scale.
Would AML not be in the more relaxed bucket..
Manufacturers responsible for between 10 000 and 300 000 cars registered per year (“niche” manufacturers) can apply for a derogation target for the years 2012-2019 equal to a 25% reduction from their 2007 average emissions, and a derogation target from 2020 on of a 45% reduction from the 2007 level.

no....AML can not pool their......CO2 emissions with .................DAI
but I believe ......AML ..........are in the category ,
‘Small volume’ derogation.......this applies
up to 10,000 vehicles sold based ...on targets agreed with
the EC.......so are exempt from..... hefty fines....
as they produce........ less than 10000, units per year....
and already have .........agreements in place..........
The EU are applying steep penalties to manufacturers missing their imposed CO2 targets. This is one of the sticks to get people to move to electric, ignoring all the pollution from mining and processing that battery production entails, plus the 2.5 ton cars that people end up driving around with increased tyre particulate pollution.
Some manufacturers are pooling themselves with other manufacturers that are ahead of the target, such as Ford with Volvo ( which have their Polestar).
I have no idea if small manufacturers get exemptions from these penalties, but wonder what the situation is with AML. Daimler have hybrid systems coming that work in conjunction with their twin turbo V8 which will presumably be fitted across the range of Astons. But in the meantime are Aston about to get some hefty fines and will the new tie up allow Aston to pool themselves with Daimler.
We template, fabricate and fit (usually) kitchen work surfaces .... Mostly quartz, also porcelain and granite ...
No body seems to think the sp will rise tomorrow, but considering they announced they’d raised £820m from the bond sale on Friday I think it’s possible, the possible lockdown was mostly in the price but obviously it got confirmed on sat, but don’t forget they didn’t announce that they’d sold the bonds till after business closed on Friday.
I’ll go 58p finish tomorrow.
