Perhaps Liontrust have found another buyer in the wings. Even so the current buyer can reduce the 75% super majority to a straight 50.1% majority to get over the line.

the offer doesn't even allow me to break even-does t sound likely there might be a competing offer
March 5 (Reuters) - Equipment rental company Aggreko said on Friday it was recommending a 2.32 billion pound ($3.22 billion) buyout offer from private equity firms TDR Capital LLP and I Squared Capital.
The British company said the offer of 880 pence per share represents a premium of about 39% to its shares' closing price on Feb. 4, a day before the offer was first tabled.
Demand for Aggreko's rental power and loading equipment has dipped due to the coronavirus-driven cancellation of public events, halving the company's annual profit and wiping a quarter of its market value in 2020.
"The Aggreko board believes that the offer ... represents an attractive price in cash that fairly recognises Aggreko's future prospects," Chairman Ken Hanna said.
Under UK takeover rules, the consortium of TDR Capital and I Squared Capital had until March 5 to announce a definite offer for Glasgow, Scotland-based Aggreko.
The private equity firms made the offer for Aggreko, which has a contract to supply power equipment for Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, under a newly formed firm called Albion Acquisitions.
Peel Hunt analysts said they do not foresee a competing or higher offer despite some recent speculation as TDR Capital has "a strong record in this sector."
Think i'll take my profits and run! GLA
Given the oil price is rising , that market like the others is improving which adds to the prospects for greater returns by any purchaser - hopefully something will happen next week. Btw i could not see any reference to the bidder reserving its right to raise its bid which is unusual.
I agree and with the sp above the offer price the market also thinks another bidder will emerge.
I consider 880p too cheap. I think another bidder is sitting in the wings and will emerge very soon.
I'd prefer a little more than a tenner but it is what it is. I'm hoping that they haven't accepted the 880p offer. I haven't sold any AGK since Apr 2015 but yesterday I sold about a third of my holding. Amazing!

My guess tmrrw, they announce an agreed bid at £10 ish.
GLA - well done perky.
875 to buy now, something afoot. 70p in 3 days. Lovely!

I hope so because at £8.80 we are being robbed. If the board agrees to this they should be locked up.
Hi everyone,
Is this going to be one of those t/o targets that is battled over by two or more bidders that keeps the sp going up and up for ages?
yep AGK was good today
thanks agk nice profit
Thanks Volcano
if you are worried about it sell now and relax ,easy
What dose it mean, what if they do not make the bid would it come down again
A bidding war

Hi BHSGS...i bought in at 3.47...... here for the long haul....i completely ignore brokers :-)
In 1997 Christian Salvesen gave their shareholders Aggreko for free. In 2012 the company peaked at over £22 when the temporary power business was their oyster. Since then problems around the World brought the share price crashing. A great ride while it was going on. Now, with brokers recommending a hold at £4, the shares touched £6 this morning. A 50% increase.
It seems something is in the offing, as well as World events that call for Aggreko’s services.

Or is something a foot here apart from providing more electric for home brewers in Scotland? Perhaps we are under attack for a potential takeover? Looks like we have lost Premier oil now too as they were too cheap.

My main concern is Weston's disdain for shareholders. The man is quite vocal on that matter (the fact that we don't, that is!)
The only problem I see is that it does not have any support until 320p - 330p if it closes below 390's today.
Unless some good news lands by chance.
Not good to see the SP fall below 400p. No support till around 350p.
Forgot too say our biggest investment is FFWD which in the last few weeks has gone from 5p to 11p and we expect it to treble or even get to 50p - 60p
AGK is a strong buy

We, like your self buy out of favour stocks and sectors, but not in the quantity you do.
We are nearly 80 and it is save to say Sell when a stocks hits it highest and buy when the blood is running in the gutter. At the top it usually only goes one way, at its low most recover nicely thank you very much.
If it drops any more we may add to our initial purchase.
I'm in at pre-Covid level but holding for the price to return. Good investment at these levels
Decided to take the plunge yesterday and add to my portfolio of covid decimated stocks. . Picked up £10k at 440, longer term it has to be a safe bet if there is such a thing in the market. A good trading update and maintaining a divi shows what confidence the directors have in the future. I was at Royal Troon golf club a few days back and their generation equipment is everywhere as the course is getting ready for the ladies British open golf.

Good Afternoon Chelcele
If you are still a shareholder on the 3rd September then you will receive the 5p dividend which will be paid on Thursday 1st October.
I have been watching Aggreko for some time and recently bought-in but did not get it quite right but if the rise today holds then I will almost be even.
I do extensive research on all my investments and used to share my research but the Trolls seem to follow me so I will not be Posting anything in-depth here.
I live about 20 miles from their base in Dumbarton and I was brought up in the area, so I can monitor activity at their base. I also arranged 4 mortgages for a guy between 2007 -2010 whom I called the Generator Guy. This was because he repaired their generators and bought and sold second-hand generators and shipped them out in containers to Africa.
I am in the process of moving from small mark capt companies to Main Market that have a strong balance sheet, management that are approachable and most important of all they pay a dividend.
Although the Interim Dividend has been reduced by 46.7% and they pulled the final dividend, this is only temporary and when they eventually return to paying over 27p they would yield over 6% at a price of £4.50 and when you factor in that the BoE Base Rate will be negative next year (it will, used to work for a Bank) then what you will see is capital appreciation to bring the dividend yield down.

Jeffries issues a buy rating with a price target of £7.20.
hTtps://www.sharesmagazine.co.uk/news/market/7035972/Broker-Forecast-Jefferies-International-issues-a-broker-note-on-Aggreko-PLC
Can someone tell me please, who is going to be eligible for the dividend? only those who bought in the first half of 2020?
That's what gives it confidence: "the Board has approved the payment of an interim dividend of 5 pence per share for 2020." - While others are withdrawing it
Excellent results. Good cash flow and cash reserves. Always good to have such a solid defensive stock in a portfolio.

Now looking doubtful imv. Results good however.
I’m surprised there is not any comments on this firm. Surely there must more like me who are we well down but have kept the faith. I’ve averaged down to about £10, my thesis has been there is a fantastic potential here, ever growing market, international reach, market & technical leader & potential takeover target. Weston seems to have done a reasonable job but my problem is that he has not seemed to grasp the main nettle - the Argentina & associated business. This has weighed the company down for many years. I don’t know the answer but a good businessman would have surely dealt with this issue by now. Let’s hope the Olympic contract win is the start of a flow of good news.

Hi Dabbler, yes as sterling is falling this share is being helped as very much an international company. To be honest the Chairman's statements have in recent years been a little bit played down until now so he seems to have surprised everyone with his sudden uplift in stance and projected earnings. As he has always previously played it safe and has been very conservative with his comments, I believe his projections. I am sure the fund Managers will now have this share back on their pensions investment list for now too so it might have a little bit further to run.

Been watching this a while. Bought in this morning as the momentum does seem strong. If promises are held it should be good for the next five years.
I see this share now returning to Financial Houses buy lists after the Chairman's statement of double digit mid teens growth earnings by 2010!!!!!
