And today Tanzania mines - now achieve 500k ounces per annum and join their tier one mines. How surprising.
Not totally surprised that today’s press release from Barrick shows that all is now going very well in Tanzania. It was never such a risky move as the takeover price suggested. Wish I had held Barrick but as I do this for fun it would have been a little boring just sat watching my investment grow (?)
Hope all previous posters are doing well. ATB
Mars also doing well with the possibility of a big jump in price very soon.
Hoping Capita will win some news govt contracts soon, maybe for some Brexit Amin too, and the Banks can make use of some cheap money out there.
How are you doing Franky, BB's anyone?
Taylor Wimpey might be a good one as stamp duty gone on houses up to 500,000 and reports overnight on bloombergers that Houses prices in the Uk are rising and expected to continue during 2020 until 2021.
Amazon expected to announce Supermarket deliveries soon free of charge (Marstons now sell their beers through them too) My misses still has HOC which has been rising fast and as you say the three amigos are worth another look i.e. HOC, CEY and FRES, but sooner or later the Gold and Silver prices will fall and Equities will come back strong. ABX keeps rising.
I had a dabble with William Hill and did ok. Just nibbled a few % on the rise early summer...Beazely I'll look into. Currently have some im Amigo Holdings and think that can go place. Did ok with INDV thanks to BigBucks suggestion last year!! Running out of ideas and have played Centamin on the way up..silver also flying!
Like you wish in the end had held on Barrick but I have done very well with others I bought. I should really cash in profits on Taylor Wimpey. William Hill, Playtech and many more but feel Capita and Marstons even though I am into good profits feel they have a long way to go. One to watch out for once the vaccine come is Beazley the Lloyds syndicate they have a Reinsurance to protect their book and will gain from Increased premiums going forward. Another one I like is AA as they also could gain post Brexit with charges for issuing green cards and charging for overseas memberships, etc.
Hi super. Good too see your touch on Marstons. I have been trading in and out of Centamin quite nicely but sold barrick. Fx charges make it impossible to trade and i lost my focus to hold them forever. Never got my special dividend!! Glad to finally eek a profit. Had a touch on Boohoo the other day and now sucked into Amigo. Seem to be gambling and trading these days and should have just held barrick and taken my own advice!
Trust all those who held onto their Aca shares are happy they should be.
Mind you there are so many good comps out there now at prices so low there are many bargains to be had.
Up 102% Friday - Not sure if anyone else took my lead?
Expect the market to rise next week if Mr T can stay quiet. The world of coming out of the Virus it seems!??
Good for you!!! I am still wedded to barrick and centamin but a little nervous..that said if i was in your shoes i might consider taking the risk off the table as this is a bull trap in a new bear market IMO. What i can t figure out is whether barrick will get dragged into the big sell off when it comes or if it is the moment to explode up. Racing cert the bottom in march will get tested or broken very soon!!
However I did not make the CAD37 it is now -still my others have all done well. AA insurance well up, Barclays up, Capita really moving up, Marstons up today (but a long way to go), ITV, William Hill, Playtec, all up too. I suppose I bought my own FTSE tracker -Good luck - if you have done the same.
read with interest. I have been looking at Capita as well but didn t think of the others especially. Am still waiting for another dip and still think that low from a month ago will get tested eventually. Most things will be a good buy then!! Still researching junior minors this end...glencore is in trouble in zambia and is like ACA all over again and cant stomach that!!!-))
Hi Franky. Not sure I know too many smaller miners, but I think you are right about sooner or later there will be another fall, but at the moment I see a little run for some shares that are so cheap. I have done really well with Capita, Marstons and AA in the last few days. I am surprised Glencore has not moved to be honest they seem to be dragging their heals at the moment. Like you I have done well with Fres and CEY, but need Hoch to come back a long way. At least their Argentina mine has started again however.
PS...i know its tempting to jump when you see other stocks doubling price in days but i think the market is going to take another big leg down shortly!! Barrick will drop but only by a bit compared to some....lets see. Good luck.
Yes that was a nice bump up Super. I am looking hard at other ideas and i guess at some point copper has to get attractive but the GP has a long way to go..finally in the black with aca investment and nicked a few grand with centamin. I think if you can keep a time horizon of 1-2 years, you will see barrick sp double again so i will hold unless the dollar v pound dynamic starts to shift too much...i am researching other smaller miners that the big guys might come and buy so any ideas are welcome!!

I think now might be the time to switch out into other bargains.
We do and good spot regarding our special dividend! I d given up. Don t forget we are 10% better off with FX as well though when that unwind it may hurt so knowing when to jump off is a tough call!!!
All coming back fast as you will have seen. I am in Cey, Fres, Hoc, and my biggest holding is Barrick. I see that literally taking off this afternoon as USD1662 Comex futures will provide. I understand their are Gold/Silver shortages and so you ar e quite correct yet again we will really take off later, perhaps even this afternoon. Good luck we deserve it!!
**** super...sorry you re being clobbered elsewhere...I got super close to trying to catch various falling knives and in the end bought 20k of centamin a couple of weeks back..suddenly they are up. We are really early stages of a long gold bull rally. Give it 2-3 years and we ll be beyond the previous barrick peak of 55$ approx. And dare I say closer to 3000 per ounce yet alone 2000!!.. I want to revisit silver big time and later on copper...I don t get a lot of stocks well enough as there are a few FTSE 100 businesses that have gone bankrupt or are limping toward it so big business doesnt mean safe. At least metals are cyclical and then the rest is patience...
Looks like precious metals are back in vogue, and the GBP V USD rate is in our favour too. I have seen on the Barrick web site we are mentioned (Acacia shareholders) for our rights to the extra dividend due for the other interests outside of the sale i.e. the gold that was held pre sale , and the exploration rights in the other African Countries, etc. To be honest this is starting to look a whole lot better than most of my other shares as the moment. All the Uk financials have taken a right hit!!
Looks like gold is dislocated from the markets for now and barrick taking a thumping. When the market stabilizes portfolios will be far more defensive and we will be first to recover. Still seeing 1800 gold by end of year but wish I had sold to buy back in Super.
We could be in a very good place here with USD seen as a safe haven and what with the crash the Fed will cut rates and the Gold miners will respond positively with higher Gold prices due to safe haven status. We could get double benefits. Cheaper production costs too with cheap oil.
Yes a lot to watch at the moment including the currency play. I see the USD was down against the CAD which will help us if the CAD gathers strength. We could do with GBP falling too if we want to sell. However we have one divi coming as of last week ex-divi for 7 cents and we are still owed for our Acacia minority interests.
Well super..I suspect we are pausing for breath before the next leg up but I have a real concern....if gold is 1800 by q2 it's no good if we can t dig the stuff up owing to lockdowns etc from virus particularly in many countries that have poor medical facilities where barrick operates. Not sure what the play is.
