Will the price increase announced today stem the fall in sp ? answer yes short term but likely accelerate it when sales fall. Imv tactica announcement to try and bring forward some volume. This company is headed for some big falls imv.
Seems the share price is in need of plugging in for a recharge.

Hugely disappointing slide seen here post-Christmas.
And to think that I was hovering over the Sell button in the $290's only holding off to see if the results update at the time would push it over $300. More than $100 down in 6 months is tough especially when I need to raise funds next month for a big outlay.
Still, the bright side is that at least my non-ISA holding is in profit and the loss on my ISA position can sit for a while yet for a possible change.
Note to self, trust instinct rather than hope for a further rise on news for a few extra £££'s profit.

I'm sure all the right fixes would be done to correct the issue
Clearly not one step ahead if the own cap-xx money for patent infringement.
Are you really making investment decisions based on what you read on UniLad??? I think Musk and his band of lawyers may be one step ahead.....
Oh no time to sell before the news hits.

There is definitely a 150 retrace on the cards. Really needs to bring in a successful new model to get the price back to 300 or alternatively increase sales
Will reach 150
Hia
I believe tesla is ahead of competition due data and size.
if one buys tesla, an American share, (through ii) if uk interest rates start down, and have effect on currency, how does this affect the share price in uk.
if bought within a trust or fund that holds a basket of american shares including tesla is this a better way.
(i know the initial charge to buy the shares is higher and there is up to a 1.5% currency conversion charge with ii... thats ok)

Well the UK won't be getting any more for a while. Don,t you know?
Model 3 production has stopped. Only last inventory models are being sold off.
Re-tooling of Giga factory assembly lines are happening.
Shanghai is now building the all new "Highland upgrade" and stock pileing them for the big new launch in October.
I've had a couple of orders put back at work. Seems the stock in the UK is running low on the model 3. Hopefully due to strong demand and not factory issues.
Apologies, China Design studio.
Highland Model 3 revealed today.
Big improvement in the cabin space, a lot more modern interior, looks a lot better feel.
Love the new front bumper and sporty nose. Nice work Tesla Japan design studio.
It should sell massive in China
WOW! Well that was amazing.
Every Tesla investor needs to watch Fridays Live drive through Palo Alto using FSD v12. No doubts left now.
AI trained drive via on board neural net, and using HW3 cameras. Robo taxi will happen! Amazing, what a demonstration!. Elon and Ashok were great, good commentary and only one intervention.
Go Tesla.

All Good here, got to be topping up, a long way to go yet for SP, really has been a fantastic journey with OROX, long may it continue!!

Strike. NASDAQ is also being affected by planned re-balance of big tech stocks including Tesla. NASDAQ is lowering there percentage to the index. This takes effect Monday. So this is a factor as well.
Still future prospects are just amazing. Energy sector Megapaks are easily going to produce more revenue than cars in a couple of years. GO TESLA.
Nearly 10% drop!
Expected atleast 5% rise considering the market momentum. Big boys need to bank profits and load up again cheap.
Next upcoming catalyst is Cybertruck production and until that is announced it could keep dropping. Previously Nvidia AI helped the Tesla price. I guess $250 next week and will it go lower is what has to be seen.
Great work by Tesla teams reported in Q2.
Automotive turnover UP, even after price reductions occurred, by reduced commodity costings, & better factory efficiency. Energy profit UP, record Megapaks and Powerwalls. Lathop factory ramping. Services and other sales UP.
Q2 production records and EPS beats Wall st forecast by 10% to $0.9c.
$3B in profits for Q2. $2B cap ex spent on new factorys etc , So another $1B added to cash pile, up to $23B now.
50% CAGR growth YoY should be achieved in 2023, to 1.8 Million cars producing annually.
BIG NEWS!
TESLA in discussions with first Legacy Car company about future Licensing of FSD software.
First mention of "Fleet" robo-vehicles occurred.
A good report, but expect SP to drop as quick buck merchants sell off today. GO TESLA
First Cybertruck produced in Austin, Giga Texas. GO TESLA.
It will be an interesting evening after markets close.
Wall st expecting a reduction to Q1 earnings. But more likely Tesla will surprise again. The trajectory is still up, whatever happens over one quarter.

What a load of BS and FUD on wall st again , about China pricing agreement. It doesn't matter if less cars sell in China, as Shanghai is chiefly an Export hub., possibly 60% export. They will just export more.
Tesla hiring first 50 dedicated workers for Teslabot development program, now that's interesting!
We could see first bots in Tesla factory trials within months. I hope they show videos. The next coukps of years should be impressive.
No, Monday is half days trading till 1.00pm. Tuesday is July 4th.
That why were at $282 nearly 8% up at 10.30 am US time. closes at 1pm US.
Nice.
Bah - tomorrows independance day so the US is shut.. Hopefully nothing derails a nice rise on Tuesday.
Well, well, well. Wolf. Wall st got it wrong and the rumours were correct. MASSIVE NUMBERS for Q2 2023.
Production 479,700
Deliveries 466,162. YES! 466k, told you around 460k was happening.
2023 is TESLA's year. Ramping nicely and new vehicles to come as well. Go TESLA.

Lots of other companies have now joined the party after GMs move. NACS is the future. Easily worth $300, but will it get there in Q2?
Yes this certainly has legs now. Tomorrow if FED takes soft stand and hold the rates then can see Tesla reaching 270s and 280, which in old money is 910. Tesla went up to 1200 in old money that is $400. Bought back 5k worth at $254 and I think I will add more tomorrow if I get same price or lower.
Well done Billy, Wolf and Openeyes. To the moon!

Nobody should be selling this under 250.
Tesla has massive momentum at the moment all the star's are aligning 💰
I'm watching the SP closely and for any headwinds coming. Next week is FED decision on interest rates. I think FED may try to hold the rates and not increase it this time but don't know how it will be received. I think it is better to raise the rates by 0.25% so that the lid is tight enough on inflation to push it down further otherwise a pause in rate hike and then inflation climbing up later would be a disaster for the markets.
Tesla earning in July so many more weeks to go still. Just need some optimism for markets and for Tesla to keep it going.
It hit $230 but not many sellers and didn't go down much and I take that as positive but things change in flip of a coin so if we can hold above $225 today and tomorrow then definitely onwards to $240-$250 before the July earnings.
May trade it now and again Billy , but as its earnt me completely Zero over the last few years its basically been one of my worse losses ever.
Really 2ticks, going at $235.? When all the upside is just about to start.
$ 235 for me Dontshootme ,and I'll be going , never again will I fool myself that holding stock long term works.
Tesla hits $220. 100% gain since January low of $110. Really peeved i had no money in January , but did manage to start buying from $139 forwards. Good gains for the future and second half of 2023, Record Q2 on the way, 4 weeks to go.

The executive shared some details about improvements in production output this quarter and focused on reducing costs going forward in preparation for Cybertruck volume production:
We made significant improvements in both areas. On Texas production, we increased 50% quarter-over-quarter, through yields increased 12% and peak rate increased by 20% and through yields improved by 20%. Altogether, the team accomplished a 25% reduction in COGS over the quarter and we are on track to achieve steady-state cost targets over the next 12 months. And going forward for the rest of the year, the priority one is to yield in cost for the 4680 program as we steadily ramp production ahead of Cybertruck next year.
Baglino gave an update on that front:
Structural pack, we saw big improvements with pack manufacturing with the 4680 cell on the structural pack concept, 50% lower capex and 66% smaller factory with the same output in gigawatt hours per year. We do believe structural as a concept is a good one. It’s simpler. We’ll continue to structurally load the cells and use the pack as the floor of the vehicle while iterating the design to closer to B-level execution of this A-level architecture in future programs. And zooming out for the 4680 team Q1 was all about cost and quality.
https://electrek.co/2023/04/21/tesla-update-4680-battery-cell/
The automaker claimed a potential to reduce battery cost by over 50% with the new design; it has been trying to bring it to volume production since, but it has run into some bottlenecks.
In a conference call following the release of its Q1 2023 financial results, Tesla gave a detailed update about its 4680 battery cell production.
Drew Baglino, Tesla’s senior VP of engineering, said about the 4680 cell:
On Battery Day, we established a cost-down roadmap through 2026 across five areas of effort. There was the cell design we discussed; anode and cathode materials, the structural pack concept, and the cell factory itself. We’ve been making progress across all these aspects since then. For the Cell Factory, for the Texas 4680 factory, we are part way through building and commissioning and installing and operating, will be 70% lower capex per gigawatt hour than typical cell factories when fully ramped in line with what we described on Battery Day. And we’re continuing to further pursue densification and investment reduction opportunities in future factory buildouts like in Nevada.
Tesla is producing 4680 cells at its pilot plant in Fremont, but it is expected to reach higher volume production at Gigafactory Texas, which is the “cell factory” Baglino is talking about here.

Agreed, In the next couple of years i can not see FSD working that well outside of America, It will take a lot longer to refine it for wiggly congested roads than the easier grid layouts and wider roads of most US cities. But what is occurring via FSD Beta testing is a refinement and constant learning of the algorithms, which will give a Teslabot a working brain. here is a guess, First bots in a Giga factory next year.
Isn't this where AI will kick in and make the dream a reality?
I have seen driverless taxis in Arizona and they are in operation since more than 3 yrs but I agree it is difficult in a busy city. Can't imagine it can work in countries like India!
I really cant see Robotaxi ever working in a city Billy,I follow chess quite a lot and chess programmes are now unbeleiveable yet still struggle to a point where a grandmaster can force it to lose its self as it still cant understand humans deviousness so to speak to the full.
I still think self drive is a long way off and maybe a decade way being generous.
ARKS figures are based from a lot of RoboTaxi income, but i think they are expecting too much revenue from this. i wouldn't want my expensive car taken by just anybody. It world need cleaning everyday, and i would not be able to rest . Imagine watching your own car on a google map travelling along roads , gods knows where. Robotaxi will only work in volume with a fleet operator, or is it just me.

I thought Tesla already invested all that needs to deliver > 1.8M this year? May be the additional costs are for Cyber Truck production in Q3?
Really need some good news to hold on to 160s atleast.
Last post: icebilly22, 21 Apr 2023 23:37
Strike.
Remember a lot of the price cuts are to get back down to car prices before the commodity price bubble. Prices went up for over 18th months!. So it is not a direct 30% cut.
I think it will be a few years to get more factories up and running. To get to a 25k car from current factories will need those factories to be re-built (i mean install latest tech/fabrication) - which would interrupt current output. It's a slower burn... as ever with Musk on Tesla - promises promises...
Ross Gerber is holding 440k shares still it seems! He didn't like price cuts and said there are many levers to pull instead of price cuts. Tesla really need to get that $25k car ASAP. They need factory to produce those $25k cars in big volumes as easily a 1M orders can come in a quarter for a $25k car. They need new factories to meet the demand.
setup new factories in Mexico and more other countries where costs are low and for these investments margins need to be better to make money. I do not think such aggressive price cuts were needed. 30% cut is just too much. Bad move. Hopefully they learn the lessons and stop with the price cuts!
I'm coming into some dry powder next week so this has come at quite a decent time for me. I sold most of my US stocks in Feb to cash in on the decent start to the year but haven't gone back in yet as wanted to see how the bank situation turned out. Seems to be in the rear view mirror for the moment.
Dan the man. He is very entertaining with his phrasology.

Simple answer here for me is buy each month so your smoothing down the ups and downs of the volatility.
"shall i wait till Thursday to see reaction or not?"
If the numbers don't meet wall street expectations then could be a blood bath. But news seem to be around beating the expectations. Forbes think higher highs possible -
https://www.forbes.com/sites/bethkindig/2023/04/14/tesla-stock-what-you-need-to-know-about-q1-earnings/
Q1 2023, earning report is this Wednesday coming at 9.30 after market close. Live broadcast. Wall street is waiting to see these, as they cannot judge the effect of price cuts. SP currently slipping downward. It's a gamble, shall i wait till Thursday to see reaction or not?? that is the question.
waiting, but not for much longer
bb143, what did you do? Buy or waiting?
I was on holiday and didn't follow the markets but it looks like US CPI figures are down to 5%? Rates should fall in second half leading to money coming back in growth stocks.

I think Tesla needed to become boring and start functioning and being valued like a regular company. No good having a PE of 1000+. It's just not sustainable when it continually goes up on no news constantly.
Good buying opportunity at this price in my view.
Tesla seems a bit marmite to be. The folk that have one love them and for some people it's just not their cup of tea.
WoW. That section of the interview was superb. Well done Elon for challenging a biased BBC interview.
Not seen it yet but the Twitter purchase was unnecessary. I'm still not sure what he gained out of it. It might his personal interest to have presence in social media but Twitter caused lot of pain for Tesla share price. All his share sales to fund the Twitter purchase was not received well by many investors.
Good thing is that Twitter story is now over. He is now taking about investing in AI and asking money from Tesla investors and SpaceX investors.
We need more news on battery side innovations, his solar energy business, new cheaper model of Tesla, usage of data collected by Tesla of the drivers.
Or even do flying Taxis that another company is already investing. If Elon takes up this idea of flying Taxis then that instills belief in investors that flying Taxis is possible and that will bring whole load of new investors into Tesla.
I read articles that say Tesla is becoming boring but in the current volatile climate boring is better with sustained profits which Tesla is making currently. Next week will prove that profits are still up despite the inflation and recession fears.
Anyone see the Musk BBC interview? Just been watching the full version. Love the way he tied the interviewer in knots over the increase of hateful content on Twitter.

The recent sneak photos of new Model 3 refresh Front look interesting. This car definitely needs some up to date styling, it is overdue. Smaller sized headlight cluster is big improvement. Looking forward to seeing the full reveal later this year.
Second new Tesla factory announced. After Giga Mexico for cars, we now have MegaPack Shanghai. and still US media keeps talking about the car business. They are a TECH company. On what continent will be the next MegaPack factory? They need up to 4 of these for the demand. Nice, another $20B in profits on the way.
yes, it's crazy out there. Just seen the yahoo Finance news clip, similar to others US media outlets. All going on about inventory and margins problems now. What winds me up, is continued analysis of Tesla, whilst other auto businesses have massive inventory that will last far longer than 16 days worth, some have weeks of inventory at showrooms and storage, and crap profit margins, nowhere near Tesla's 20%. twisting news.
Even the gap between unsold cars from previous quarter to this quarter reduced. This time it is around 18k cars that are in the inventory whereas in the previous quarter it was near 30k-40k?
Until the next update I guess it will now trade in a range upto $200. I will open a trading pot and will buy if it goes to $180
Bloody hell nearly 7% drop!
Those numbers don't warrant such a big drop.
Here is from Bloomberg on 31st Mar about analyst estimate of Tesla delivery numbers -
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-03-31/did-tesla-tsla-price-cuts-fix-its-demand-problem-investors-will-soon-find-out
from above link - Analysts estimate first quarter deliveries of 421,164
Tesla delivered 422875 which is higher than analyst estimates! ?
Still a drop of 7%?
With oil price increasing, there would be more people looking to buy Electric vehicles.
I wanted a top-up under $200 so will wait and see how low it will be "taken" down.

Unfortunately, timescales are not known for products like the HVAC units and Teslabot, and other future segments.
However, POWER i.e. XL Megapaks, Megapaks, Powerwall, Solar, and Virtual Grid will grow massively before 2030.
I forgot the new Roadster which is out shortly, but that only be a few thousands annually. I would certainly love one of those if i had the money, it looks brilliant.
Thank you Billy! I was only going by the content covered in the media and as always media missed mentioning about other products.
Now come on let's break that 210p barrier.
I wish there was a laughing button, rather than just recommend.
If any of you are interested , there was a slide which showed how the 20 Mill cars would be distributed across their future range of all vehicle segments. I cannot remember all the figures. However, the estimates were 10 Million from Models S3XY, Cybertruck and Semi lorry, and 10Million Gen3 platform variants including Compact car. Gen3 will be faster, cheaper to build and as he said demand will increase as price reduces. and this is just Automobiles. Also, they predicted on Investor Day in a another slide, that Autos would only contribute about 30% of Tesla turnover, as other products will expand and broaden the TAM. TOTAL ADDRESSABLE MARKET will be huge. Stop complaining, it was a good day!

It will be a lot higher than that number, baring acts of god. IMHO.
So much ramp and expansion to come, and new product lines staring before 2030.
Capex investment could double and not dent the cash pile Tesla is accumulating.

I believe it could atleast touch $500 when the market rallies. Bulls vs Bears fight began again! If the retailers keep buying all the available free float then shorts will not have much left to cover and price will explode!
