Trade
Further information: Commonwealth free trade
Although the Commonwealth does not have a multilateral trade agreement, research by the Royal Commonwealth Society has shown that trade with another Commonwealth member is up to 50% more than with a non-member on average, with smaller and less wealthy states having a higher propensity to trade within the Commonwealth.[130] At the 2005 Summit in Malta, the heads of government endorsed pursuing free trade among Commonwealth members on a bilateral basis.[131]
Following its vote in June 2016 to leave the EU, some politicians in the United Kingdom have suggested the idea as an alternative to its membership in the European Union,[132][133] however it is far from clear that this would either offer sufficient economic benefit to replace the impact of leaving the EU or be acceptable to other member states[134] Although the EU is already in the process of negotiating free trade agreements with many Commonwealth countries such as India and Canada, it took the EU almost ten years to come to an agreement with Canada,[135][136] due to the challenge associated with achieving the necessary EU-wide approvals.

caant ssee why boris or hunt can't ddo a deaal wittheeu simiilar to the one tthee uk neggotttiated for thee IOM
See below what uk negotiateed for the IOM which is not part of the UK
European Union
The Isle of Man is neither part of the European Union, nor has a special status, and thus did not take part in the 2016 referendum on the UK's EU membership. However, Protocol 3 of the UK's Act of Accession to the Treaty of Rome included the Isle of Man within the EU's customs area, allowing for trade in Manx goods without tariffs throughout the EU.[50] As it is not part of the EU's internal market, there are still limitations on the movement of capital, services and labour.
EU citizens are entitled to travel and reside, but not work, in the island without restriction. British citizens with Manxman status are similarly restricted from working in the EU.[51][52]
The effect of the UK leaving the European Union is uncertain. The UK has confirmed that the Crown Dependencies' position will be included in the Brexit negotiations.[53]:ch.5
Why can't phucking EU grant uk includingg phuckingg NI ssiimmiilar sstattus to IOM ?
I.E.
include us like the Isle of Man within the EU's customs area, allowing for trade in goods without tariffs throughout the EU but as we will not be part of the EU's internal market, there will still be limitations on the movement of capital, services and labour.
EU citizens are entitled to travel and reside, but not work, in the IOM without restriction so tthis hould bee tthe same for ukk wwhen wwwee leave. British citizens with Manxman status are similarly restricted from working in the EU so tthat should apply to uk wwhen we leave.
its just eu being phucking difficult to prevent a mass walkout of otheer member states because their holy grail of freedom of movement of labour will have to be ditched.
Boris can take as hard a stance as he likes, he won’t beat the EU.....they hold all the cards. Simple fact is that no deal is bad for the EU but terrible for the UK (and Ireland....but I’m sure the EU could help them out). The EU is fearful that the U.K. will cause even more trouble with Boris and the likes of France may actually push for throwing us out as then they will at least be able to get on instead of being in purgatory with a petulant child causing endless trouble.
It was clear to the EU that may’s Threat of no deal was never credible.....but the same can be said of Boris, Parliament won’t allow it. Boris will try, Boris will fail and then it will be an election or referendum.
For its lead story, the Sunday Times says senior figures from five EU countries have established contacts with Boris Johnson's team in a bid to thrash out a new Brexit plan that would avoid a no-deal departure.
as anton zsays cant be wdeak going to the negotiating table. eu were.nt but they dont wantt no deal either it will hurt them too. may took the wrong soft approach no wonder she didn't get anywhere. boris witth hhis leave 31st oct eeveen with nno deal wiill hsave em frightened. i think baarnier or macron said may didn't meention no fdeal no wwonder ttheey sttucck tto their gunss.

Trump's a dangerous buffoon. Doesn't understand diplomacy. Incapable of negotiation without involving teams of lawyers. Doesn't understand tariffs or comparative advantage. A total loser who has systematically removed every staff member who tried to control his knee jerk politics. So we are left with Bolton, Pence, Israel, SA and his useless extended family to call the shots. Make America gaga. I cannot see a WSG/Iran contract any time soon.
You get the feeling that Trump's style of "Government" relates directly to his own brash and bullying personality. He could well be sowing the seeds of war in the Middle East because Iran's economy - already a 'basket case' - is sliding further and further into the abyss and eventually the Supreme Leader will just block the Straits and challenge the ever growing number of warships gathering in the area.
Trump - master of the unintended consequence. Thick, brash, rich, misogynistic, racist, bully boy. How ever did the Americans vote for him??
He won't come back to the Nuclear agreement because that would lose face. What an utter pig that man is.
Perversely we want something like this to bring it to a head.
But now we have a JV in SA ( where Trump is sending troops and ships as I type) the bod seem to have both bases covered- and with the massive privatisation plans and lower risk, defo prefer SA over Iran. Holiday boring already!!
Good stuff on security audit trail. Will the gov really allow a regional druglord to run this high tech state of the art show?
I think it will happen much sooner than you think. The US sanctions are tough and they are really working - and the people just want to trade. There will be a deal because there is a clear win win to be had for both sides.
The Iran deal will happen when the sanctions are pulled I feel. The UK Iran relations are not that bad and the Government will always want trade. Especially trade that makes the world safer.
Early 2021 for the deal with a Dem in the White House is my guess
agreed DHC, but sadly for wsg the government relations between iran and uk seem to be getting stretched lately reaching a highly tensioned point. will iran cause long term damage to relationships and will wsg never actually get the airport contracts up and running? i cant see it becoming up and running any time soon. could be a dead duck or be years away.
africa contract could surprise a few helping to forget about iran in the time being
So far for the UK ship escorting ability! It's tit for tat, announced in advance. Now I would like to see the Iranian supertanker freed, before Boris comes in power and kisses the orange butt.
