As you should know, whether shareholders get a special dividend or bot is not in the gift of Tesco, there are still a number of hurdles before the Asian businesses are sold. Then there is the shareholders vote. I dont think that the PRA will try to influence the dividend.
Special dividend.
Dividend or special dividend
Wonder if we are still getting that?
Just got to wonder if 221 is it's ceiling at the moment and 216 is it's floor..
Just to say that the first one has been up and running since Tuesday. So far it looks as if everything is going very well.
I’d be been holding and waiting for a climb here but over two months waiting for 235p so I sold Weds afternoon. At 220.7p. Then today’s drop would have cost me another £750 loss so glad I did sell.
Thus is having a tendency to touch 212 then head back to 220p so might get back in at some point. Will see.
GLA
Hoping it will drift down to 215 and buy back in..
i share facesters view....i think this is an excellent share to be in...yes they may be making tough decisions re working practices..brokers positive..with a rising market this should do well...also pays div...its ok to look at the likes of boo..iag..cine..but those shares at moment are risky plays shortterm..
I sold on Friday for 220, I'm hoping the recent trend of reaching 220 and falling back will continue.. news this weekend is not great regarding new spikes and quarentines.. but knowing my luck it will fly now..
First one going live on Tuesday. Fantastic set up. Another 29 on its way.
Ok, I look at My Barclays ISA at 5pm Friday , says Tesco ended the day 220, so I’m pleased with the rise from Thursday close and see a rise in my balance (as I’m gagging for them to get beyond 235) then I look at 23:30 Friday night and says 216 and then I’m suddenly 19000 lots of 4p worse off!!!
Anyone???
Why??
Was it 220 or 216!!!!
Thanks in advance.
The Aldi price match is a significant indication that the discounters are not going to get as easy a time as in 2008 if there is a further recession.
If the customer knows that all the basic foods have no price advantage in the discounters then a larger less crowded store without the crazy rush to self-pack your shopping gives Tesco a big edge.

Hi Jeff, it is just a simple chart showing the long term trend even before 2016, and this share seems to respect it even after march crash
Sainsbury's has shared an update on Twitter with shoppers clarifying where it stands on shoppers wearing face-masks.
It follows the introduction of a new law requiring mandatory wearing of face-masks by shoppers in England from the July 24. The government has given police the power to fine anybody flouting the law. Illogically shop and supermarket staff are not required to wear face coverings!
Sainsbury's supermarket has told Twitter users: "We won’t be challenging customers without a mask when they enter or when they are in store since they may have a reason not to wear a mask."
Tesco, meanwhile, responding to Customers feedback and the “easing” of the governments lockdown restrictions, have scrapped social distancing measures in store. The supermarket’s one-way system down aisles has been axed, and the number of customers allowed in stores has been increased.
In contrast Aldi, in an email to shoppers said: “…you will need to wear a face covering to enter one of our stores…” Their “Deutsche Ordnung” approach includes a traffic light system at store entrances to accurately manage the number of people in stores at any one time, and social distancing markers.
Whilst in Greggs the Bakers, along with other take-away outlets, a face-mask is required - but customers cannot eat their purchases on the premises! Whilst next door, in Joe’s café, a face-mask is not required to purchase and eat similar product lines - on the premises!
The curse “May you live in interesting times” surely reflects the difference in attitude and reaction by retailers to confused government direction as they eagerly seek to increase foot-fall and sales in the race for the lead in market share and profit!
Morning
Tra1 don't suppose those charts put any dates on the them do they by any chance. :-)
Nothing that Lidls don't ask their staff to do already. Makes efficient use of staff time and better ownership of their work environment. Makes sound financial and structural sense to me. Less of the 'ooh look at that mess, let's ring a bell & get someone to clear that up for me' attitude can only be positive in a work place. The UK as a whole could take a lesson from that looking at the state of our littered & fouled countryside.
Maybe it has something to do with the news that cleaning contractors have been sacked from 2000 stores and staff will now be responsible for all cleaning? They have had a hard time and are now being asked to clean the stores which must are not happy with. Sounds to me like further cost cutting? Tesco will soon lose it reputation as a decent employer?
Something holding sp back at the mo. I little surprising that it has drifted this low...just the way things are sometimes. Other shares/sectors having a better time of atm. Patience is key...our time will come. A well positioned business.
Would be nice if we could get back to a common language that mere mortals like me can relate too.

relating to the Malaysia business? I realise it can only be provisional but would be good to know - i believe we are still awaiting regs approval but i was wondering if there had been a published timeline relating to this and the TESCO timeline following Malaysia approval?
Hi Tra1 lets hope your right and that it goes back up as quick as it goes down :-)
GM, small holding for me but hoping to see +250 soon__https://invst.ly/rigpe
Sounds like Tesco will has less fierceful competition ahead
