Mrs
and the point of your venturing onto the Tesco board is?
Nothing wrong with chicken from Thailand is there.
https://www.fwi.co.uk/livestock/poultry/chickens/high-welfare-chicken-imports-pose-a-threat
It is a shoppers choice. You are free to have a curry with UK chicken if you prefer.
Tesco offer an excellent choice of food from throughout the world.
The UK is an outward looking trading nation
I don't see the problem
2m trade at 246.1 logged as a sell. Again on or close to the day’s high. Pi’s being played. Kicking myself for not adding more last Friday waiting for it to go sun 240.
I’m sure a few here are still undecided what to do as the window closes for the XSD but whatever you decide wish you all the very best with your decision.
No holding here, but as a consumer for decades, I have noticed a significant reduction in the quality of the food Tesco is selling. I have been buying its chicken curries for a long time, but it is confirmed in the small print that this is now sourced from Taiwanese chicken. Quite frankly it is disgusting. Its freshly caught Norwegian Cod (then frozen) is now shipped all the way to China, processed and packaged and shipped back to Tesco UK, and seems to be more water than fish. Only a matter of time, that consumers realise they are being fleeced. For sources of this info. please just pop down to your local Tesco. and look at the packets... Disgusting !
Ive been mulling this over for some weeks, I have 10,000 shares in my share isa and 20,000 in my normal trading account. I initially thought the SD would work in my favour and a nice bonus, but today decided to sell the 20,000 in my trade account. The divi tax rate of upto 32.5% for me, will imo out weigh the benefit of receiving the £10k divi combined with the 19/15 cosolidation. Ill keep the isa shares and see how things settle at the end of feb,
Need to buy back in at some point as year end results should be fun
Clear example of having their own interests at heart. Not happy with the free awarded shares. Although I suspect her dividend tax is more than 7.5%
Why would she not wait to sell these shares?
Well how it can be called a SD is a stretch...it's not an SD in any way shape or form it;s a consolation for the consolidation with a nasty tax sting in the tail....SD Scorpion Dividend
"Any price rise today will see a lot of sells imo, this SD looks like a mess, might be worth reinvesting after consolidation, it might coincide with a dip in the market, bit of luck needed ??"
Agreed Leas, this is a shake up and no-one knows the outcome ..
Only time will tell mags. No one has a crystal ball.

It’s not a tax on successful on line retailers but an additional tax on consumers. Do you not think that Amazon will not just add 1% to their prices to maintain their current profits? It is simply a back door tax increase, something that we will see a lot of in the next 5 years. Consumers will be paying off the national debt, not on-line operators or Tescos
It was amusing to witness the current Tesco boss demanding a 1% tax for online purchases.
Tesco of course, in the good old days, built up one of Britain's biggest land banks with a view to making a profit out of land, preventing its rivals from building stores and building its own stores everywhere it could.
Did they really fail to spot the rise of online retail and the stellar performance of the likes of Amazon? Having failed so to do, they then attempt to strong arm the government into penalising successful businesses which sidestepped Tesco's attempts to stifle its rivals.
As it happens I am very grateful for the abundance of opportunities to buy on line and isolate during the pandemic. I am also aware that once a government, strapped for cash, introduces a new tax at 1%, that is just a foot in the door. It won't only be 1% for long. Tesco want us all to pay for their lack of business acumen and inability to move with the times.
Yes ditto, very pump and dump share,it’s 5% of my portfolio
3 complaints :
TRB
Yes, I was in ARB. Was in at 10p and sold a little later. Was in at 6p and sold a lot later. I will say this though, in my opinion, ARB is a dangerous share. I would not want to be in there for too long and, at the first sign of a dip, I would jump ship.

25 Feb as today.’
Do you not mean 12th Feb? The GM on the 11th will be ex div if the proposal is agreed.
Stuck down my forthcoming 51p divi into TSC shares, so planning to have the same weighting on 25 Feb as today. Complicated by buying cum div so every share I buy today gets me the 51p divi, but don't mind if I end up with a slightly higher total than before.
Luckily all my TSCs are in my ISA and my SIPP, so no tax implications.
Why were you bumped off driving....?
Yet another £6m trade. Split into 2 x 3m and both executed on the day’s high. Wouldn’t bet that the other 6m was a buy also. Very coincidental.
Convinced money is being moved in.
Yes was indeed rosewall for Argo but in June “ hopefully you bought some then rosy” and made up for sxx,
Oh and I faux parred selling marstons at 70p too !
Can’t win them all sadly
Well I wasn’t thinking about a cake just the store manager perhaps to say well done much appreciated but then I haven’t seen him since the first week he started 2 years ago!
As for thinking about myself absolutely correct! My life revolved around Tesco , Now Tesco. Revolves around me ,
As for the old school yes we had it well but no more, but compared to how new starters are flexed and moved around I feel sorry for them and the churn is noticeable, only 3 originals now left on dot com driving side,
Yep I agree I’ve probably had £400,000 in wages but thinking how I used to work in several departments and what I’ve saved them coming into do extra shifts to get vans out on a Friday I’ve probably made them millions and saved them 10,000s of thousands , soon as I was bumped off driving they had to cancel two vans on a Friday loaded up how much did that cost to compensate customers, put the shopping back and re pick it ?
As for RR yes holding up and hasn’t budged much of late since Sunak torpedoed holidays, mind you I sold Aston Martin and bought tui even worse! Sos is floundering, but I’ve doubled my bucks on GMR , However Iately I sold Cey fora small loss and ploughed it into Argo at 69p so that’s doing fine “ thank you Elon musk for buying BTC ” I may have even gleaned that from rosewall back in may to see where else people post , watch, learn, replicate ,
Personal circumstances well I’m mortgaged up to my eyeballs and beyond 365k to go, hopefully interest rates stay low and we can fix for five years again next year keep paying the same rate and knock 2 years off so I’ll be early 70s before I pay that off chuckle ! But hoping to trade a lot off so it’s finished by my 60s
Managing 200 well only place in stores that’s manageable is dot com or your in a DC
And boy oh boy do they go through their new staff as we discussed last night at work .
I’ll see where we are at after consolidation but as it stands Tesco is up £500 from when I sold that 10k currently without looking and thanks to ARB today I’d say I’m just ahead and having fun trading in the process.
6m trade reported after the bell together with some other institutional size trades. All red, but are they.?
Information always ‘weighted’ in favour of the city boys.
Trading is more red than blue today, are traders getting cold feet?
Spindler that’s how I’m reading it. They don’t want to lower the price too much as it will encourage buying and don’t want the price to get above 2.50 and have to buy higher.
Personally I am looking longer term so will be happy post GM.
From reading this board I wonder how much impact the small investors have selling before the so called SD cut off this week. I detected a significant amount who were planning to sell and you can multiply that many times by the silent ones who hold the same intent....it;s the same as an iceberg most of it's hidden but it's there.....I wondered if this is all about getting Institutions loaded up ?
