Fair point, earthling. I suppose I was referring to the fact Hav appears to be getting far more corporate attention than SOLG.
Why do you think NCN have enough on their plate just because they are at Hav? They are a major and have fingers in many pies.
Thats why they are a major.
My portfolio full of 're dots !!,common NM get them rolling out!!!:):)
Jerry, I don't see New simply rolling over if BHP attempt a bid and although they don't have a blocking position, they could make life complicated. Mind you, with what's going on at Haveiron, it could be argued New have enough on their plate. Additionally, my guess is that they are on bid alert with regard to Rio, and if that happens life really will get interesting.
The reluctance of BHP to appoint a director has always been a mystery and we've speculated as to the reasons. We all love the conspiracy theories, but it could simply be down to the fact that their corporate policy doesn't allow it. I should also like to know whether they've any intention of taking up the offer to provide technical assistance, as per the most recent announcement. Mind you, given the paucity of our corporate communications, I'm not sure we'll ever be told, one way or another.
The combination of the BHP and New shareholding has effectively led to a bit of an impasse and leads me to the opinion that a jv between the two is quite possible. Of course, Rio could upset the apple cart and a bid for New would catapult them up the global ladder miners. It must be very tempting.
In my mind, one thing is for sure, this will not be an independent company over the medium term.
I think you are right.
imo I think you'll be out before you get full value tbh
KB, I think that given the last 12 months, before we can dream about 10bln, we need to get some serious comfort that 1bln is achievable first.
shareholdings are irrelevant!
Alpala touted to be the equivalent of Wafi Golpu if not greater (time will tell): which was valued at £9.9B.
In all likelihood Aplapa will also encapsulate Aguinaga, not been taken into account yet!
Blanca Nieves - supposedly richer than Lundin's Fruta Del Norte
And you think £1B?
Really, people who aim for the sky are likely to hit tree tops but people who aim for the tress hit the dirt. Try aiming higher!
KB, I dont have as many shares as you and your family (about half I think) but still have plenty. So I hope that you are right and I am talking nonsense. I think we will know by the end of the year.
Jerry! It’s not just BHP that can fund!
Black rock are invested heavily and have portfolios that incorporate stream funding
Poppy****! Jerry! Absolute poppy****!
SOLG go for a billion! Get back on your meds!
Thats quite funny KB. My worry is that you might think that true! Solgold has a market cap of £382myn. Can you think of any company that has had a hostile bid at many multiples of the current mkt cap? I cant.
In an agreed deal, NM might squeeze a billion out of BHP, but is (at a guess) less than 3months free cash flow to BHP. 52p.
In the absence of any reason not to, I would vote for that.
BHP couldn’t afford it alone!!
It’s been stated by analysts many times before.
ITS TOO BIG !!!
What people say and do are often different, especially when a bit of 'folding' is put on the table. NC would sign up if they had a piece of the action. As would CGP, cos they need the money. NM and DGR might not at first but he will know the game is up when he has a hostile BHP as the largest s/holder.
Just a theory though.........and one that suits me!
Good afternoon Jerry, nice thought, however the distribution of the share register means that NM can block any bid by BHP, they would have to offer so much that Cornerstone, Newcrest, DGR and NM would sell up. Hence cannot see it. However I suspect this may come down to what represents full value.
Something occurred to me on the dog walk, probably not original. NC have a seat on the board so get all the management accounts and CEO updates and are always possessing privileged information.
BHP were offered a seat on the board but have in effect declined as they havent taken up the offer. So they will only have any information that NM decides to share with them. If we are anything to go, probably not much.
Which leads me to the conclusion that once the 2 yr no bid agreement lapses BHP will bid for Solgold, with or w/o NC and the price will be about 40% more than this summers VWAP.
This tallies with what other mkt commentators/brokers are saying. So Solgold will be history, unless NM can do a deal for just Alpala. Which means that NM needs to get the sp up a lot, probably in the 2nd qtr. Thats my theory. All imho of course!!
