I think what doubled was the amount of cars with SEE tech in. 1st 6 month period was 125,000 then last one we got was 250,000 i think from memory.
Be interesting to see what the figure is to June 22?
Also looking forward to seeing how many Fleet installs in this current 6 month period.
isb, looks like 2 or 3 models to start at least without reading hours of articles.
BMW is ready with its summer model update for its 2022 model range, which includes a new standard infotainment system for the 2 Series Coupe and the M3. The company’s iDrive 8 tech will be standard on all versions of the performance coupes starting from July this year. There are other upgrades also worth mentioning but let’s start with the new curved displays.
It may seem a little unexpected for BMW to give the two models such a huge tech boost without an actual generation change or a facelift, though the move makes a lot of sense. The automaker will soon launch the new M2 and M3 Touring, both already confirmed to get the new iDrive 8 system. It would've been weird for the lesser 2 Series Coupe models and the standard M3 sedan to stick with the previous-gen infotainment, which easily explains the mid-cycle upgrade.

Exactly and if I am reading the figures right only 2.3m of the 12m dollars was from license revenue in 2021 - so in reality this year it will only be 4.6m (if Paul's statement comes true) + any non recurring fees - so we may not even see any growth on the 12m in total.
Next year may be more than double though if it is true about idrive 8 going across all BMW's from July22 (have BMW officially announced this or has it just been found in a blog online?) and SEE is standard in the Idrive 8 and not an optional extra (sorry I don't know whether it is standard or not - can someone enlighten me)

Cenkos had estimated turnover at $82m for 2023.
Auto as $25m.
So these are the figures to beat. If they are basing their 20p on these figures then hopefully beating them will see that 20p climb.
As its estimated it could be anything? Ive seen the likes of BMW this Week and GM bringing forward model launches so if others follow suit then 2024s estimates could surely rub off in 2023s figures.
Add Fleet with the likes of Shell & other big boys signing up & a nice one or 2 Aviation contracts it could be a fair bit higher, but time will tel....
Auto revenue is made top of
- license revenue at 90-95% margin
- NRE (non recurring engineering fees) at very low margin
The auto license revenue is the element he can confidently say will double every year, NRE is lumpy and depends on what RFQ is won within the time period
The important point for me is that its the element that achieves 90-95% margin that is doubling.
It was auto revenue that he said would double not total revenue. He also said every 12 months. Auto revenue was 12m australian dollars, total revenue was 47m for 2021. If his statement comes true then this year we should see 24m dollars for auto - 220m for FY23 is pie in the sky - doubt we will even get to 100m
I think he said the number of cars with SEE DMS would double each year which is a lot different. Current annual DMS license revenue is ?. I don’t recall the revenue doubling every six months comment but happy to be pointed to it.
Consensus revenue for FY22 is around $55mill,so a doubling every 6 months would see us achieve $220mil for FY23,similar to that ,of Mobileye prior to Intels acquisition for around $13bill.I doubt whether the most bullish amongst us do not anticipate FY23 revenue exceeding $200 mill -although our SP would be likely to rerate should FY23 forecasts be higher than expectec
It will be interesting to see next years growth, Paul once said turnover would double every 6 months, personally I can see a lot higher growth rate than this because or the extra models in each period, plus I think Qualcomm is the icing on the cake.

Pauls comments about min 30 models at SOP by early 2023 looks more than right, maybe a bit light.
Good work Detective S2020 as always :) Nice write up.
Seems lots OEMs bring out models early & many with SEE in.
Well, this is unexpected. It was only a few hours ago when BMW unveiled the 2023 3 Series LCI and we’ve now stumbled upon an official image of the updated M3. While you’d be tempted to say someone from within the company made a mistake and published the photo sooner than planned, that’s not the case. Why? Because the latest-gen infotainment is coming sooner than you think. The German luxury brand says all cars produced from July this year will switch to the iDrive 8 as standard equipment.
Shows 46 models, didn't know they done that many

"With the LCI, the 3 Series gets some changes to the cabin as well. For the most part, the 3 Series Facelift gets the same interior as the BMW i4, with the same new iDrive 8 integration, the dual infotainment screen setup, and BMW’s latest digital gauges. By now, most BMW fans are familiar with the look and layout of iDrive 8, having seen it on the iX and i4. But for those that don’t know, the iDrive 8 system features a much larger touchscreen, climate controls integrated in to the main screen, and the updated digital gauges, which are most customizable than before.
We are part of the idrive8 system for BMW, looks like they have made a decision to ro this across all models, not just new launches but mid model refresh also from summer 2022.
