Silly fingers! Of course it's £4.6b - but it doesn't change the reason for the post. How do we compare? - thanks for the reasoned response Red

Veoneer is a very good T1 whose speciality is collaborative driving whereas SEE is rather unique T2 which Colin Barnden called more strategic than Mobileye ie without it Level 2 /2+ is a bit of an ask, and where we going faster than expected? Level 2/2+. SEYE and others struggle at best with L2 /2+,look at SEYEs problems at getting to SOP on its earlier DWs.
Hence why SEEs value, once RFQs morph into contracts will command a bigger ask. Although it may also prove to be a reason it isn't sold or even better start up a Battle of the Titans (I think there were 12 Titans).
Is it not 4.6 billion?
Except it's a bid of 4.6 billion not million. Just a small difference
Interesting to compare the $4.6m bid for Veoneer with the hoped for/expected/ridiculous/understated* (*delete according to your viewpoint) bid values of SEE being bandied about on here.

PM has made comment, officially neutral as you'd expect. I doubt publicly SEE would take sides?
Interesting stuff
Seeing Machines deciding not to make any official reference to Veoneer's takeover.
MrBB I think you are spot on with your assumption. Get a few more contracts over the line and that 15-20p valuation starts to move upwards. I just want them to put real vues on the deals when they announce them to make all wake up realise

AC - Unfortunately some just like to try and trade the stock, others just need the money!
Why are so many people selling shares ? I don’t quite understand it when we are on the cusp of something big….
Schlemiel, good post from forbes.
QC logic.... The acquisition also fits into a broader Qualcomm strategy to expand its Total Available Market (TAM). Qualcomm has made automotive a top priority and has seen significant success.
I guess SEE's incentive to remain independent as long as it can is to maximise its TAM. Booked business in the near term is strategic.
Qual offered $37, price now $39.86 so the market appears to believe a counter bid is a possibility

If they know what it's worth, why aren't they buying all they can? Genuine question!
I am sure we will (mostly) be extremely disappointed if a bid came in for us now as it would likely be at 15-20p for starters which would massively understate our gigantic prospective future .In order to max the value of our holdings we need to remain independent for as long as possible & certainly for us to be able to demonstrate a rapid ramp up of revenues from all of our divisions & if will be only then that The Market will be able to start to try to measure our vast potential .
15-20p now could be 150-200p in a year or 2 & most of us have been here long enough to be not too bothered by waiting another 12-24 months for what could well be a very decent return & our SP on an upwards trajectory will give us the comfort that all is going well
'There was a wave of automotive technology acquisitions prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. We are likely to see more acquisitions over the next few years as companies jockey for position in the new automotive market. They may also become highly competitive. It would not surprise Tirias Research if this is not the last offer we see for Veoneer from Magna, Qualcomm, or possibly another party. With Veoneer now in play, anything is possible.'

Yes, I won't be expecting any bids so soon. The Qualcomm bid if successful represents QCs biggest acquisition and of course has not been accepted yet although likely it will be.
However, it's not just a question of buying a company, it's a question of successfully merging the acquisition which dependent on the targets size can take a lot of time and effort and this is not a small acquisition. So I suspect Qualcomm will be busy for minimally 6 months if not a year.
That doesn't rule Qualcomm out, it has a history of acquisitions although not on a regular basis -

Now that is a development and a half. thanks
Qualcomm are integrating SEE into their silicon for Snap4.
Veoneer got Ford and Chrysler so far using SEE.
All sounds like a very tight group to work with. I Don't see a downside, as QC can spend whatever is required to make their new buy a big success.
QC wouldn't want anyone else to own SEE either but whether that leads to a bid who knows. Perhaps they'll wait until the A$900m rfqs are sorted.
Paul and Michael know how much SEE is worth.
Magna board room, let's try and out bid QCOM for SEE, then we have a bargaining chip with QCOM for preferential pricing oem access.
This is from Bloomberg? They may still want to invest elsewhere
Qualcomm “was the logical alternate bidder” for Veoneer, given a collaboration the companies first announced last year to develop driver-assistance and autonomous systems, Dan Levy, an analyst at Credit Suisse Securities, wrote to clients. He doesn’t expect Magna -- the world’s fourth-largest supplier to the auto industry by sales -- to pursue a topping bid because investors were already wary of the planned acquisition announced last month.

This is a major development in raising awareness of the value of ADAS / DMS.
Hoping against hope that SEE remain independent. Their non exclusive range of commercial relationships might be a shield.
SEE are at the very beginning of a golden period of 10 years plus. How sad to sell itself short by being bought out before that happens. How easy is it to identify a genuine winner? To find one like this for a PI is a rare event. Personally, I just want this story to run and run. We might be surprised at just how big SEE cd get to be.
This is the big worry - how much would the board accept if an offer came in? God only knows! I just hope that we wouldn't be going for anything under 1 billion but who knows we may not even go for what the brokers feel we should be currently trading at.
The market is expecting a counter bid, their SPnis above the QC offer
