I think I flew in a smaller one four times a week for about 9 months. It only had one seat towards the front of the cabin.
Bunsie,
Yes, they look familiar. It was a Fokker F50 and I think it had 52 seats (I always studied the plastic information sheet)
Bunsie, still on the off topic for everyone else
Autophagy: this was my benchmark for maximum results. "autophagy process initiates in humans after 18-20 hours of fasting, with maximal benefits occurring once the 48–72 hour mark has been reached"
This is why I've always targeted three days for the immune system reset. I've usually found that after 18 hours minimum and 36 hours maximum I no longer felt "hungry". It think it helps if you don't eat high glycaemic foods before starting. Right now I'm finding I'm full on between 450-700 calories a day (using a small window for eating). I'm still off the caffeine.
I was doing some research during the fast which indicated that for fat burning, that it needed to be a longer time period. I gained about 2 stone since lock down here and I'm struggling to lose it. I definitely want to lose that before EoY holidays. So I will continue to be sensible about calorie intake. I've also up the yoga/tai chi/walking and I'm about to sort out my winter flowers/spring bulbs/weed out the rock wall behind the lodge.
those Old Tridents are a very fast plane .. and short take off ... they can still beat a Boeing Pepsi Max
Inan,
My father did many trips in the vomit comet developing the Smiths Triplex Autopilot to land in zero/zero weather conditions at BLEU (blind landing experimental unit) which went into service on the now old tridents.
The most difficult was to get them off the runway to the gate in thick fog!
Anyway, enough of my ramblings.
Let's change the subject before other people on the BB complain.

Rats,
Flies like a B747 in the air, but a beast to land in a crosswind with a 37/8 degree sweep on the wing, yep was $19M to buy and around 1/2 mill to run annually.
You would love it though

NO MORE THRILLING JET SORTIES FROM THUNDER CITY
Thunder City, which has the world's largest civilian-owned fleet of ex-combat jets including three English Electric Lightnings, three BAe Buccaneers, seven Hawker Hunters and a retrofitted Puma helicopter, is to cease flying operations with immediate effect.
That's one mean looking piece of kit! You can almost smell the money needed to keep it aloft..
Evening Inan,
Perhaps for this reason from Cars

If so they were critical on weight and balance, bags had to be loaded front and rear holds perfectly, my wife used to handle these at Gloucestershire Airport back in the day.
They did make other versions and the flying coffin was I think the 330 variant.

Oops, forgot to mention it was one of those little Fockers, turbo prop I think they called them flying coffins because of the shape (not the safety record)
I’m not that heavy!
The most drink per hour I’ve ever consumed on any flight - pre dinner drinks, wine with meal, after dinner drinks- not bad in 55 minutes Dublin to Bristol.

If you are considering fasting another option (if it suits) is just eating during a small time window each day - for example 8 hours ideally well away from sleeping time. e.g. Breakfast after 10, last meal before 6 pm. (Brunch and Sunday lunch combo) This ensures your fat burning enzymes get to have a go everyday.
Hi Ruck,
Must have been a small plane then, or you are VERY heavy, haha
Having had to have regular class 1 medicals for my licence I guess I have always kept my weight in check, but that is not everything, beer and fags take their toll and now being retired I really would like to extend my life if it's not too much misery doing it!
Fasting for 48 hours doesn't sound to bad though, that's why I would appreciate any feedback on what to expect.
You take care Ruck

These days you might be the one one on the flight Ruck.
You might be asked to sit in the aisle :-)
Flight!
Bunsie,
What’s off topic? Surely this board is all to do with health and wealth. The health bit is not just cancer treatment but all aspects of the human body.
Unlike you, I do need to loose weight. I remember many years ago on a very empty Aer Lingus price I was asked to move seats “to balance the plane”
Hi C7,
Regarding your question on fasting from last night....
I don't need to lose weight, just picked up on the many benefits of purging the body "autophagy I think" and re-setting the immune system to give me the best chance in the present pandemic, plus the benefits to the old grey matter!!
I think a 2 day fast would be possible without too much hardship.
Sorry about the off topic again

Bunsie, I just saw your post. I debated about going on to 5 days, but I have a couple of busy days this week. And visitors arriving next week.
Once you are past the first 36 hours, it gets much easier. Personally I don't recommend undertaking a lot of physical exercise, but I did use my under the desk exerciser quite a bit. I also "cheated" in that I had organic non-caffeine tea for the first day. I think it also helps if you have something to do besides watching tv. Just don't expect to have all the energy you would normally.
I plan to do another fast at some point in the next three months, I'm just sorting out the timing in the run up to the end of the year.
Hi Bunsie,Cars makes a very good point, one I can concur with.
On a normal day, I just cannot eat in the mornings, probably until 3.00 where I make myself a fresh meal, and as I tend to sleep early I have cut out picking from the fridge. That suffices me as I do so little exercise I cam maintain my weight eating 1200 calories a day.
Also like Cars (I am 63) I feel tired after eating, not reinvigirated. Yes people do go a few days just drinking water and yes.
I would look at the link Cars posted (and others) the 5/2 diet is what I do often, and as long as it is my choice it suits me. When I have to fast in hospital, and am told so i feel hungry instantly,, I tend to do the opposite of what I am Told. Interesting subject, I feel the Muslims clear there systems best with the ramadan fast and look trimmer and fitter for it.
I will find a couple of links for you for safe fasting the concept is good for the body, it just clears out what in effect needs to be got out. Tell you one thing, on breaking the fast, anything you eat tastes wonderful!!! believe me.
Another aside Bunsie and Cars, what is your reasons for doing so, I am 6 feet 2 and weigh 90 kilos, and if I ate 3 meals a day my metabolism wouldn"t handle it.
OT, I fancy an RNS in the morning re AGM and whatever else might be ready to be released, as I posted earlier delighted with our new director, we are being surrounded by sound financial advice, which IMHO reflects where we are at with deals and licensing opportunities. Have a good night.
Bunsie ,
No problem , I thought the same but you get used to it within a day or two and I actually prefer eating a whole lot less , my energy levels stay constant and don’t dip like they used to after eating etc .
Sorry for the off topic .
Be careful Bunsie - I heard of a long haul pilot who retired but died of malnutrition shortly afterwards because his wife didn't know he was used to being fed every hour on the hour.
Cars,
Many thanks for that, will take a look in the AM, much appreciated.
just a bit worried about getting light headed and whether I can keep going for the days without food.

Evening Bunsie ,
I started to fast about 6 mths ago , I read about the benefits and thought I would give it a go . I’ve lost a stone and feel better for it , I started on the 2/5 but am now doing the 5/2 , that is basically fast for 2 days and eat normally for 5 .
Have a read of the below article .
