Elhorno, if by that you mean that the feared difficulties did not materialise, I would agree at present, though willwant to see more detail. Having seen a screen print of the number or participants and followers, the numbers were rather woefully low. Our local parish council had a larger %involvement when discussing the proposal for 4 street lights and ‘road signage’ (to help delivery drivers as locals knowalready).
As commentated elsewhere “ For a population in the town of about 2800 or the district around 5500, that doesn’t seem to be a mass uprising and the vocal minority who are moved to say something looked like they struggled to mobilise even the edges of the silent majority.
The 1 or 2% may have their points to make but that doesn’t entitle them to impose their opinions.“
Sailed off into the sunset.
Iceberg is long gone as far as I know
No, I am a relatively new boy- although it feels I have been here for an eternity, I never saw the AME days.
Was he she it them they Osaka then? Always knew he was a wrong 'un the wide Essex boy
Wonder what iceberg thinks...
I think CM that you were here in the AME days as was InB? I can't remember other names going back that far but I like ATD's addition. Osaka must have had a name change and there are a couple of other LTH from back when I was first invested that still post but they aren't on this thread and my addled brain can't cope any more or can't drag their names from the depths of my memory. Moz cannot be far away but I still think we've missed a trick with Oman - all that local money gone to waste....
I think it's a case of being realistic. I came across a couple of other sites protesting about, both in Portuguese so a bit hard to figure the details. One very active the other a petition 7,500 have signed for a target of 10,000 (but I can't timeline progress on it).
Weather Galp is on board or not makes sod all difference.
I think because SAV is a leader so it's going to cop the head winds. But I think it will succeed.
Totally agree CM. Hopefully it will go smoothly but in for the long haul if the haters turn up with money for the courts.
We LTHs waited for Moz and we waited for Oman so we won’t be fazed by waiting for Portugal? We count time in years not months. Patience is our middle name!
I thought i had settled down for the summer. However, any hint of malfeasance sends a chill down my spine. If there is a case to answer, it could take this project into stalemate until there is clarity, or worse, a case to answer which will put everything on hold for goodness knows how long. Or am i being a little pessimistic?
The ‘foreign interests’ are not of course the Galician NGO bringing its procedural spanner into the Portuguese spokes.
I remain somewhat bemused by the use of NGO to describe outfits, often in their own self description. Our local tiddlywinks society is an NGO but doesn’t feel the need to self promote its closeness and relevance to the corridors and ear of the powerful with a reference to Government, even if prefixed with Non.
Hopefully it will be dealt with swiftly with as much courtesy as it deserves but not wrap everything in treacle. Nothing to refute on content or fact to date, just procedure.
It seems the environmental NGO bringing the action is upset with APA for not releasing the full environmental impact prepared by SAV a year ago. For a moment I thought we were on the same side against bureaucratic delays until I noted that a few paragraphs later we were referred to as “foreign interests”. They are certainly not holding back with accusations of malfeasance?
I suspect nothing much will come of this directly but its what follows. I have VMS which was held back for years by protesters. VMS won and claimed court costs.
It can get damn frustrating.
No one thought this phase of the project would be easy. They do seem to be clutching at straws with this potential action .... interesting to see how it unfolds
The start of it.

There is a BIG difference with INF.
That Galp is partially owned by Spanish govt! Makes the likelihood of project going ahead significantly higher.
I believe SAV has a better chance than INF (still in trading halt) but it did cross my mind as to weather it was the true reason behind the CR. You're going to need money for the courts if required and trying to do a CR after the stink has hit the fan is like shutting the stable door to late.
Locals can act all they like, just moaning does not justify stopping one of the best economic opportunities to Portugal. They have to complain about something the mine will actually affect and have a legitimate reason for it. That's if the EIA has not already mitigated it and APA agreed it was mitigated. If it is new then they will have an oppotunity mitigate it. Maybe with the PC, you will get those interested in it turning up and giving a different voice to the mine of support as they/children looking work, their shops have no turn over etc. Gov has been very voval about this mine and parades DA around and has him speak at Environment presentations etc. they seem to like the project and it is the key to unlocking great riches in the EU battery slush fund.
So how does everyone feel about this public consultation? Have to admit, I've always felt sure about Savannah resources...but with the way the locals are acting, the nerves are creeping in lol
