Thanks Wilson63, I just want the shorter to burn badly!!! Just hope they are not acting for a third party. To short a stock that is about to get a serious leg up seems a bit daft, perhaps it is just the artificial intelligence that is putting Voleon in this position. Given they have been doing badly they would be scrutinising every additional risk their computer is taking on. I appreciate thr market is so full of nasty tricks to rob the investor of his hard earned savings, dog eat dog. Any insight into this murky word Is helpful. So thanks.
Whatnonews I think Tay on twitter has help d me make sense of it
Evening buddy, I should really had said at the end - Voleon's *paper loss* as of yesterday is lower than it was in the days before averaging up on the short.
Now it should make perfect sense to anyone. Not a reflection on #NCYT, just good trading / risk management.
Or prop5 is hopefully right and they've made a right mess of it, but I'm going to stick with they are making a defensive block for someone.
Just hope our Knight in Shining Armour blows them to f***,he must be aware what is common knowledge and take action to protect his share holders. We need loads of good news to keep the sp in a upward trend which will mean some a***s getting kicked at Voleon.
If they succeed then this stock could end up like that which occured at SXX - if so there may be a parallel investigation on the shenanigans of the financial industry - its ethics and its morals. Hope that this will not be the case. Did you see BBC Panorama last night ? If not try to ensure that you do - FinCEN files indicate level of fr**d & co££uption in some FI's.
They got in at 277 and 396.. Both terrible moves.
However I feel they tried to catch the top at 440 the other day but completely missed it and also have tried to reduce their average but have done so too early..
This could end up being an absolute catastrophe for them!!
@hamsters18: Remember the C5. Now there are electric scooters everywhere
Has the short worked? Not in a traditional way. Normally borrow shares, dump shares price drops, take out a load of stop losses, weak holders & buy back cheaper. However we have been on an slow upwards trend & Voleon have kept increasing the short with little effect. Maybe suppressed the price a bit. But volume was low anyway. Price has jumped in the past 10 day's could be a good time to add to short hope for a retrace. They are hoping PI's get bored, start looking at other shares gaining & jump ship. But we've all done our research. We can wait . More products coming on stream & Government orders to fill.
"The Company continues to make good progress in the development and launch of a central lab-based serology test for the detection of the IgG antibody to COVID-19. To date, the product has demonstrated significant levels of sensitivity and specificity for detection of IgG in patients 14 days after testing positive for COVID-19 by a PCR test. Novacyt now expects to launch a CE Mark approved product by the end of September 2020."
@KilkennyTed: Lol, We have Sir Clive to thank for much of today's tech. A clever man, and ahead of his time.
Agreed Hamsters. Shorters definitely aren’t on my xmas card list. I’m totally against shorting. Hopefully, Voleon will get their comeuppance.
And the MM's know that they have a Buyer for 700,000+ shares hiding in the shadows, at some time they will BUY Back.
Q: Is there any time limit you can short a share?
and
I trust whoever lent Voleon the shares will want more Collateral from them as the value of their lend has increase 33%
algo's even. Think I have it also
IT overhaul required as Voleons Sinclair ZX Spectrum seems to have a virus &it's making some crazy alog's
Wilson 63, Not sure what you mean about Voleon ulterior motive. Help me out here to make sure I understand the situation. By increasing their short position they would have to ‘borrow’ share at a price which might encourage cheap farming by the MMs hence tree shakes. Now if the market turns as a result of stunning news there will be a scramble for shares and Voleon will be looking to buy the shares at market price to return the borrowed shares. Are they acting honourably or acting for some other entity. This has been intimated by others previously. Let us hope that GM and bod can navigate around the shenanigans. Hope anyone can provide some more insight. Intriguing but also annoying.
£329000 worth of delayed buys today in 3 purchases £4.09 x 2 and £4.10.
@Wolverine007; So if a nice juicy RNS was to be released tomorrow, and the SP should rocket, am I correct in thinking that would be a win win situation?
@Wolverine007; Lol, I am sensing some negative vibes here, and am guessing that shorters are not on your Christmas card list? It would be nice to find out if they got burned or at least got a loose bottom feeling.
Choppy indeed, perhaps somebody needs to tweek the algo.

AI hedge fund Voleon suffers in choppy markets
Voleon Group, one of the world’s biggest and best-performing artificial intelligence hedge funds, has suffered large losses after being hit by choppy markets, making it one of a number of computer-driven fund managers to struggle this year...
So much for artificial intelligence then!!! Please drop a juicy RNS and trigger a share scramble.
Surely there has to be some human interaction. Algorithms flash up to say short this, humans check it, the either short it or don’t. It’s stupid leaving it to a computer lol.
Hope a flurry of RNS’s shortly burn Voleon. GM should teach them a lesson.
So they have circa 900k shares to buy back now, great news.
Their algorithm may have seen yesterday’s sell off and added selling pressure, perhaps not realising the general market turmoil.
Crazy if they are automatically trading on lack of sales as a signal. Maybe its just an experiment.
maybe their AI algorithmic trading platform has a bug!
That kind of short trade strategy would maybe work in highly volatile markets normally, but to increase on a gradual rise is suicidal. All you do is increase your exposure to a trending market going against you. Anyway, not for me to tell them how to spend their money, but its certainly not normal trading behaviour.
