@bobminor, nope every share has a set ‘normal market size’ or NMS that a market maker is obliged to offer a quote in normal circumstances via online dealing;
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/normalmarketsize.asp
For NCYT it’s 5000, beyond this they don’t have to offer a live quote. If you call them up then it could be a different case though.
Ultimately it’s about maintaining an orderly market where buys can be matched against sells - if they guaranteed that you could dump £1m shares via an online dealing then this would be impossible to manage.
Where it gets frustrating is when they drop a share sharply then make it NT to buy, even at NMS.
When I signed up to HL many years ago, their promise was that I could sell shares and immediately have the proceeds available to reinvest elsewhere. Perhaps it would be an idea to establish whether this is still their promise.
If response is affirmative, you can then take the matter further.
In theory SheerClass it shouldn't really matter about how much I wish to sell or what share it is - if I decide to sell £200K worth of [any] shares I should be able to at the time that I decide and it should be credited to my account and settled in due course - not when and how the broker decides. Fund transfers/sale does occur but not often very timely (I have made my opinions known to HL on this issue) - can take several days more than an allowable period of instruction processing. I am suspicious that if it comes to it then a large sell will be frustrated by the 'financial system' and may incur a loss to work in the brokers favour. Any further thoughts or am I just being paranoid/too cynical ? (probably the latter)
Thanks Wilson, - I'm trying to install a new computer and my dual tasking capabilities need an upgrade.
Unsure where Novartis came from.
I think a Numis valuation will be the opportunity to provide further sales update, but unsure when Numis would want to provide. Perhaps GM will advise Numis when he would like to see their valuation ha ha.
B2 I believe you have been auto corrected for numis securities.
SteveV (15:57):
Novartis appointment.
So GM will have to provide a thorough debrief as basis for Novartis valuation.
Will GM allow turnover / profits from July / August to form part of this valuation, (Exsig direct, Exsig Mag and COVID H-T, two gene qPCR, and Winterplex initial sales info not released by company). If GM wants sp up by the end of October, then the Novartis valuation could be be the vehicle to announce at least some initial sales.
What are expected timescales for Novartis initial valuation?
@bobminor, I've never had a problem with NCYT on HL, liquidity is usually excellent. Of course it varies depending on the amount you are trying to sell / which share you are selling...
.... in that case has anyone managed to sell any large number shares whilst in good profit via HL - cos I have reservations about this process - digital money getting closer to being real money - the market sometimes squirms when payout day arrives - anyone had any bad experiences with cashing-in ???
Monday RNS then?
For me the telling event lately was the appointment of the 2nd broker. Can't wait for their analysis. Are they going to value the company at anywhere near todays price ???? No of course not.
I can see the sp having a steady rise from now.
Could see a £4.20 finish going into the weekend
People top slicing maybe. I will be doing the same myself soon, i have bills to pay..
Would you really sell at £4??????? Nuts if you do, then everyone has their own agenda. They could have been sat on a huge profit if they had bought their shares at 48p, when I first noticed NCYT (and did not buy..........until later).
I bet they were flooded with sell orders for £4
that was interesting - could not get a quote to sell over 5000 shares.
