Unlike you to be so glum BTB!
The PTAB, if it goes our way, means the trial (if we even get there) will be a formality and grounds for appeal practically nil. That’s why it was a masterstroke for mintz to agree to the stay.
In twelve months time we will be in a very different place, for better or worse, and that’s well worth holding for IMO.
thanks Matty.
Hi NGR….as I understand it,the validity of the patents won’t be contested if we go to trial. It was Samsung who agreed to this as a condition of entering into the PTAB process.
And as Samsung’s main defence was validity,on a positive PTAB outcome for us,I think Samsung will settle pre-trial.
i understand the trial last a fixed length of time. By delaying until after the PTAB ruling, and assuming it rules in Nanoco's favour, it allows their legal team to focus on other matters which may potentially increase damages.
Lobo 87 - Is the trial is likely to only last a week because of the PTAB ruling (assuming it goes in our favour) with a Jury decision rather than run on as the validity of the patents is thrashed out with a Jury who has no idea what Quantum Dot is?
Sorry BeingTheBanker, but you are way off. Unless we get a shift in scheduling, the PTAB will rule before the end of May 2022 and that means we are likely to see a one week trial in the fall of next year. Keep in mind that we were on the verge of trial and the process doesn't get restarted, the case was simply stayed...
We are 6-7 months out from when the fun really starts. In between now and then who knows what can happen - commercial contracts, settlement talks, nothing?
From the web company
"The site should now be back up to 100% functionality. We experienced a momentary network issue that caused some links to not work, but everything has now been resynced and you shouldn't be experiencing any more issues."
looks like they have simply switched it back to the old site?
Website has had some updates and looks better than before.
Yes I thought the same re the sale process tab. In my view that's all done, but perhaps it's there as a 'For Sale' sign.
There looks like a tab above the text. Wan you hover over it it activates the text below. There is a blank one to the left of 'HEATWAVE' that is not 'live' but it's currently not sized for anymore than 6 characters i.e. DISPLAY wouldn't fit.
It looks to me that the developer is working on the site live rather than running a beta version.
The web page has a number of issues this morning, one link 'More about us' not working and othe pages resulting in 404 nothing found. Does no one else think the prominence of the 'Formal Sale Process 2019' tab a little odd. By all means refer to it in the investors link or news but to have it along side the product and promo link it looks out of place it stands out more in the desktop presentation rather than the mobile version.
RGM: I was not seeking to be negative. I believe in Nanoco and have more than doubled my share ownership recently. The potential Heatwave market and Samsung lawsuit upside justifies the risk, as long as one risks only money they are willing to lose. Most investments today are dangerous and with far less upside potential. Maintaining a high percentage of cash is important, but too much cash during inflationary times is also high risk. As I mentioned previously, Nanoco customer STMicro appears to be a very safe investment. They tend to make conservative estimates and have already raised guidance once during this quarter. Besides leading in sensors and micro machines, they offer components critical to the IoT world. They announce Q3 earnings on Oct 28.
$6?! ... not credible.
Or some may have expired
Re the patents, the website is now saying Nanoco hold circa 550 patents instead of the 700+ that have been quoted previously. Perhaps they have stripped back the number to save costs?
The true extent of the relationship between Samsung and Nanosys is yet to be discovered... But to my mind it is very very shifty indeed. The whole thing makes my blood boil to be quite frank. Should things against Samsung go our way Nanosys may well be next in the firing line.
Re the website…it’s odd display isn’t on there, our dots are one of the flagship discoveries of the company. I wonder if with all the legal stuff going off they thought it better to just leave it until it’s resolved, unless Samsung are planning to buy all the patents and so we don’t have a display product any more… ;)
Brian Tenner has been frank in playing down display revenue opportunities in his past updates. This is in stark contrast to Michael Edelman who liked to whip up some froth, but little came of it beyond a temporary lift in share value that often enabled him to sell his personal share holding.
Brian did say there may be some small opportunities, but they may have since diminished. It does appear that beyond Samsung, Nanosys and Nanjing hold all the cards in the QD display industry. Nanosys have prduced an air stable QD product that costs a little about $6 to integrate into a TV
There are, I'm sure, things going on behind the scenes that we're completely unaware of. We don't know if these companies are infringing on Nanoco IP, but even if that was so we can be reasonably sure that Nanoco do not have the capability to support further legal action at this stage.
Everything really depends on how the PTAB reaches its conclusion in a little over seven months from now.
Forget that second para. Meant for elsewhere.
Amerloque . Would seem a bit iffy as audits are meant to confirm past activity. Forward 'dreaming' is at the behest of the board lol
I'm sure (hope) we have still the potential of a 30% uplift in SP before the end of the year based on meeting production promises. GLA
Could the audit team have forced Nanoco to deemphasize their display technology? It does seem misleading to promote the display markets if the Nanoco display pipeline is empty.
On what basis wickymicky? Apart from the Samsung case NANO has nothing going on in the display market.
Can’t believe “display” is not part of their profile. Most likely holding back info on this until Nov 3rd.
Something does not smell right - they have given no valid reason for the delay.
Heatwave definitelty front and centre. Interesting to see Vividots being given it's own tab as well.

Looks like the website is being updated. Appears to be very little reference to display, which from memory was quite extensive previously.
