Well at least India are now on the Red List, Why it takes almost 4 days baffles me when at Christmas Boris introduced a lockdown here in under 8 hours.
Trent New Zealand.
Gov't 's everywhere have made mistakes and 4ked up. But show me one Government body anywhere that has got 100% of it's effort 100% correct. You can't. None have. Many have fared much worse.
You best repeat these nonsense statement to the 100's of Publicans who have not opended and worse those who have and had booked tables this last weekend, with provisions and staff engaged and then Customer's did not keep their Booking.
If you believe the Gov have done a good job and by inference you approve flights from India etc should continue?. Hardly good practice when Scientists are warning of the inherent dangers.
Rubbish.
For example (just one example) do you think that Marstons think this gov have done a good job? You’re invested in them. The answer is ‘no’.
‘This government’ does not mean ‘every elected official in the land’. Even if it did, how can you possibly make such a sweeping statement.
It is you who has the blinkers on pal. Head in the sand.
"Unbelievably naive" ..........remarkabably an unintelligent comment from probably a blinkered vision. The govt as a whole not just the characters you see on TV but the hard workers behind the scenes making it work from local councils, parishes and governing bodies to getting this roll-out underway and backed in many ways. Regardless of wheedling in politics from what they had to deal with is remarkable compared to other countries. The hard work of those just totally abnegated through a short sighted flippant comment. Just so much disappointment in your comment but we live in a democratic socitey and each to their own.
‘This government has done a grand job’
Unbelievably naive.
@ FD & Yoyoma.
I agree that most (the sensible ones) have done as they've been asked to do, but at the same time started to become inreasingly frustrated at the ones that are seemingly either too stupid or selfish to play the game, and help with the effort to bring the virus under some level of control.
I get that it's no fun, and how it can affect mental health, not being able to get off for a pint & chat with drinking buddies, pop round to see friends, weekends away and so on.
Anyway, rant over.
Was laying new pens out this morning and my fields literally piggy back off the A303 and from 0500 to around 0900 we probably saw over 200 caravans/motohomes heading SW. So I can only imagine the increased footfall on those poor villages and districts from these idiots thinking they deserve a break. Like you Trent I am climbing the walls with frustration and would love to just b*gger off for a couple of days for the change of scenry. This govt has done a grand job in how they've handled it however the inbound flights is a huge concern. We are an Island lets just close the borders and re-open next year.
Most of us are keeping to the rules, but wonder why the Hell flights from India are continuing without control. Some say how can we control our borders, easy. NZ have a process where , even returning Nationals MUST go into quarantine Hotels. There are limited spaces which must be booked in advance. At the moment anyone wishing to travel to NZ are looking at a 12-14 week wait for available QT accomodation. Why can't a similar process be in place here? There are very many vacant Hotel bed-spaces in London.
It seems to be beyond the wit of Politicians to see how best to give us back the freedom we so much miss.
@ CTEAL. I agree with you.
Far too many have swanned off to the beach, off on "protests" et al with no concern over being in close proximity to strangers, with no thought or concern if they are or have been infwcted with it or not, but seemingly too dim to understand that they are not only putting themselves at risk, but also potentially putting family members in harm's way. Yet a lot of those are more than happy to lay the blame squarely at the Gov't's feet.
Like everyone else, I'm bored sh*tless not being able to do the things that we normally take for granted. Visiting friends, the odd weekend away, missing our holiday last year. All the usual stuff.
But we all just have to get on with it though, don't we.
And to remember about the current vaccines...from those who no more than you and i ...."The current vaccines are highly effective at preventing people from getting seriously sick with COVID-19. However Given the uncertainty and the arrival of more contagious variants, experts say fully vaccinated people should continue to wear masks and social distance in public and when visiting with unvaccinated people at high risk for severe illness if infected.
“We still have to be cautious,the vaccine is essential. But it is not a cure-all that ends the epidemic tomorrow."
If only people followed this we would be out of this mess quicker!,,,,
* 2nd vaccine, not nephew. D'oh!
I'm not sure that this is something that is pointed at those that have been vaccinated.
I have had both my jabs, (I got called up for my 2nd one a little earlier than I thought on Sunday just gone) but my guess is that the Govt are just considering those that have not had their 2nephew yet, and those that for whatever reason are objecting to having them.
Just a thought.
@Fairdealer
Can't agree more, the more rules & regs they introduce make it harder & harder for pubs to make a living for their owners/tenants in normal times, let alone in a pandemic.
Why indeed were we vaccinated, or do they suppose that we are all now a nation of bed wetters ?
For that is how we are being treated, for sure.
Pubs required to have better air circulation systems!!
Have windows and doors open, expensive extraction/re-circulation system. How the hell will this work? Many Pubs I know would find it impossible and impracticable, too say nothing of altering Listed Buildings.
Best go to the pub this Autumn and Winter wearing an overcoat and or full thermals.
Many will be wondering why have we been vaccinated?
