But if your in that position where you have to chose between heating or eating then social drinking is not on yiur priority list anyway.
Im aware of the cost of going out now but once I've had a few it's pushed to the back of my mind .
I believe sales will be down this year but it wont be all doom and gloom
The pent up spending will have been more or less spent on holidays, cars, motor homes etc, and now 1000's are scared witless at the massive energy rises to hit from April. Consumer spending is going to take, is already, taking a big hit. Add to this, every business is having to absorb or pass on large increases being imposed from most input costs. The retail sector is going to struggle, even Food, where consumers are cutting back.....heat or eat!
After I wrote this post does anybody think the market as already priced this in
The thing is there are still people going out and drinking including myself probably not in pre-covid numbers but their still going out
People have loads to spend don’t forget we where locked down for 12 months but we as a nation love to be at home watching all the latest box sets

Beer sales hit specifically. Inflation may be less important than fear of inflation, and a consequent cutback in discretionary spending. This bodes ill here.
There's still money out there but i agree people will reign in a bit this year ,i consider myself to be on a decent wage but the last two days has made me think a little.
Not sure if this the right year for any UK cConsumer stocks. Discretionary spending is going to take a sizeable hit, and pretty soon companies are going to be talking about squeezed margins from rising costs.

It is gratifying, indeed.
Probably the first time the shares have moved up after a results announcement for about 4 years from my memory. Certainly plenty of hurdles to clear with their debt pile but confidence in new management seems to be rising now they are being addressed.
Good to see the price getting some support
I was worried that my January 'go off the booze' initiative had undone us here
Was I really drinking that much Hobgoblin ?
I mustuh

Hobgoblin gold
Funny how a somewhat wobbly market quietens down this board from some of the eternal rampers, why even that fount of knowledge under the initials SC has yet to give us his wisdom for quite a while, & then by appointment only.
In the current absence of mirth my son gave me a lovely Meatloaf crack this morning which I'll share with you if I may ?
The WHO are saying Meatloaf died from a case of animal-to-human virus transmission from bats out of hell.
My apologies to those who have already seen/heard this, but it is "poets day" after all.
Any return to the dividend list depends on conditions which Bond holders agreed when loans were extended late last year.
Well covid killed their dividends, though imho, the policy of reducing debt is unlikely to encourage the BoD to reintroduce any divis in a hurry, especially as I do not recall them saying that they repaid their furloughs, which I guess "spend it before you've got it" Findlay took as much as he could before his departure.
They could always pay a token divi but I see more chance of that happening after they lighten the debt up a bit, tbh.
No. I don't believe that they are.
Does anyone know if Marston's are paying a dividend this year. I have 60000 Marston's shares and need £1 a share to break even.

You did indeed highlight that very point re leasing arrangement.
WRT gas the poster for this puff on Sirius has managed to infest many boards today, he/she must really want the stock up badly !

If you google this you'll see the D Mail appears to be a bit late, it was announced in October last year, Morning Advertiser & BBC had it on the 8th & Western Telegraph 14th October, all saying 99 pubs for sale.
Thus the market must have this priced in, as I assume it is what the DM is referring to ?
Does the sale of 100 pubs (daily Mail 15.01.2022) have any implications for us ?
We have an agreement to manage 156 of their pubs
Are they still pledging a divi?
Dividend chasers
A lot of trades today ..
Looking at the last month trades, I have formed the view that someone is stake building. There has been a pretty solid floor under the daily share price pertubations. Any significant blocks that come up seem to be consistently covered.
Yep
Will do thanks
Still adding here :)
Kind Regards
