Management has been issuing too many new shares
Don't trust any tips in newspapers
This trust was tipped today by Questor in the Telegraph, though does not seem to have had any impact this am.
Have had great run with JGGI, and fascinated to see APPLE as fourth biggest investment as at March 29; wasn't on the list at Feb 29. Over the years, managers said they liked the stock but saw better value elsewhere. Now it's up there. Any thoughts, maybe contrarian play with Apple looking out of favour ?
I don't think big discounts are good thing but many trusts are running at historically big discounts and this one is on a small premium so it is a bit of an outlier due to it's performance as you said. Don't get me wrong I really like this trust but for right now did not add any more shares as my first buy was 475p so it has done really well since then.
I did hold the underperforming SCIN before the merger with JP Morgan some years ago but I sold out before the announcement and missed out on a lot more of these shares at a much better price than I have now !
I agree with you moneybox007.
Sure, there are some better performers on the IT lists, but they are sector driven - not global - so first you have to choose the right race, before choosing the horse.
With JGGI you are backing the stable.

You state: "Plenty of good IT’s with big discounts around so I struggle to see why this is as loved as it is right now"
It's "loved" because it is the best performing Global Equity income trust over 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 years. For that kind of performance, the premium at 1.56% is ridiculously low. Find me a Global IT with better performance.
Up 103% (with divis) over last 5 years. Better than the S&P500. Better than SMT and better than Fundsmith Equity (to use 2 well-known global trusts/funds)
To add another popular trust comparison, Murray International, they are up 26% in last 5 years. In your world they must be "better" because they have a 10% discount to NAV?
Thanks to HSBC ( paper only comms - dated 20/02 ) & Royal Mail, I was only notified of this at lunchtime today so No I didn't participate !
Nothing much lost though !
No didn’t bother as no real point with the volumes I would have bought. Plenty of good IT’s with big discounts around so I struggle to see why this is as loved as it is right now.
"the WRAP Retail Offer is 533.75 pence per Share, representing a premium of 0.60% to the cum-income NAV per Share as at 19 February 2024."
I was a bit slow with regard to info on this, only getting the notification yesterday and didn't sign up. The Wrap offer looks like a non event seeing that the share price has fallen toda, practically negating the premium. Did anyone particpate is this/ have any thoughts on this?
The next ex-dividend date is 23 November, 2023 with a dividend of 4.61 pence and payable 05 January, 2024.
For current dividend information, go to dividenddata.co.uk.
Looking back for the dates of the last two Q2 dividends we are overdue an announcement on the ex div date are we not? I am expecting 4.61p per share as Q1.
Les.. please say when next Xd date is, and pc divi.. thx.
(I find it hard to get this info, here percent is shown as 3pc or so. )
For my earlier msg - am getting my months wrong today Doh!!!
Can anyone confirm if they have already received the latest JGGI dividend into their account.
I am still awaiting payment via H-L platform. A weeks delay for payment of a UK investment trust divi!
Who is receving the interest on this delayed payment?
I would be interested to know if anyone else has tackled HL on this issue and whether it lead to any service improvement.
Thanks.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
It seems the NAV is reviewed end of June in order to set the divvy amount for the coming 12 months.
With the stated divvy policy being 4%, based off of the last NAV for £4.58 that suggests a 7.7% divvy increase to 4.57p each quarter.
Not too bad an increase. Looking at data on my brokerage site, the annualised TR for this is very good.
