..................choppy seas and Low Pressure systems on the voyage persist !! So what's to be positive about :
1. We have a decent, compliant ,well-led and experienced Main Board and local Board ( at H&W ) The people and workforce at H&W seem so proud that the yard is busy and attracting constant work. There has been recently some excellent PR and if you can join and visit "The Yard" on Facebook then see what I mean .
2. JW certainly has shown that he not only has a gambling spirit for business but also a "Head for Heights "by entertaining the worthies on top of Goliath !!
3. We have two potentially profitable assets now on the books and H&W seems to be paying it's way so far
4. We have a decent mix of II's who have invested in the potential long term and stayed the course as far as we can tell .This was not the case 12 months ago
5. We have great vision per the Board with the Barrow FSRU project and Offshore Wind Farm fabrication at H&W and ,yes,
6. Despite all the shenanigans and goings on + delays we still have some faith in IM though if that one is Dead in the Water ( excuse the pun ) it would be best for the Board to continue to progress it via representations and good project management as the fundamentals still exist despite Climate Change activism.
7. Our tie up with Navantia has immense potential yet to be realised. The Board have worked wonders on this !!
And so to the negative side and why it's so important to take part and listen to the presentation on 10th November next :
1. We don't know the figures yet ( due soon though ) for H&W's performance but successfully dealing with some local Irish Sea Ferries and working wonders on Oceanex Connaigra may only mean a break even now that we have increased the workforce and set out to purchase updated fabrication and cutting equipment for the yard. What we need is for the Viking type Contacts to be confirmed soon .If the Government can support us with Export Credit type finance that will be a game changer .not sure why Viking Sea is still languishing in Trieste and Viking Sun is doing the same off Mukran ?
2. Appledore's revival ( and possibly that of Belfast too ) may well depend on new Naval contracts ..But as you see from the Sunday press today there is a a current battle between Rishy S and Bojo ( supported by Ben Wallace ) over the Autumn Defence Review .Nothing is given despite Bojo's optimism for Appledore which needs immediate investment and transfer of technology per Navantia
3. If ML is going to rumble on ,best to lay all the cards on the table ..sooner than later .I think all of us are somewhat jaded by the delays and consequentials here !
4. In general either before or at the 10th November Get Together we need news of a significant contract, details of how H&W is fairing in difficult times, news about progress with Navantia /Barrow and ,dare I say, something however small about IM ..
do all attend 10th November ... still lots to be excited about .if only..
Thanks guys really impressed by your updates and fundamentals here look very good that's why am adding a few more next week ,med/long term looks very good indeed ,I live near barrow so will try and post anything that's going on there .
Hi All - For the record here is the link:
https://www.vesselfinder.com
Bubble2021 In relation to your 11.01 post unfortunately security would not let us but I get my info from https://booking.belfast-harbour.co.uk/ using the traffic expected and Port tabs. Si_Derman uses the Vessel Finder site. Between the two you get a very good idea of what is going in and out of Belfast Harbour.
Have you guys got a camera on H&W crane lol!!:):),nice to know keep up good info please :):)
Okay, it's just entering the Belfast dock as I type, fwiw. :)
Si_Derman In relation to your 09.49 post that is probably right as I got my ships wrong as I menat the Adventurer being in dry dock until 15 November.
Vess;le finder is showing the SFVII off the coast of Scotland.
The Adventurer is just coming up on H&W through the harbour.
Superfast VII is now in drydock until the 15 November.
Stokey. Re your 8.17 post earlier, i checked the Belfast Harbour site last night and Stena Adventurer wasn't on it then. That's why i couldn't confirm if my info was correct as i didn't see it here or anywhere else online. Glad it's coming in tomorrow. For continuity of work it's good to see a ship in both the dry docks.
Having said that, I see Oceanex Connaigra is scheduled to leave on 31/10/2020.
https://booking.belfast-harbour.co.uk/ (Go to 'traffic expected' tab on this link).
Stokey. Try this link for the recent Telegraph article on the FSS competition.

This front aswell typo apols
Nice to see they continuing with refurbs during this pandemic, keep the local economy going ,think that we may see some big announcements from boris and co regards infrastructure /ship building end of the year or January kick start the economy and shipbuilding again as we used to be renowned for our ship building expertise, hint that infra may get some of these orders is in the recruitment /apprenticeships at appledore yard shortly after boris visited the yard imho.if am not mistaken the floating terminal at barrow which they have paid for and storage facilities I Ireland would suggest there's pending news on this frown swell, think I'll add more on Monday in my isa.
What does everyone expect from the Roadshow, if anything, I was not in this share tthe time of the shareholder events last year so I do not know what to expect. Not sure if there is any sgnificance in the time of the first roadshow.
ThisTimeNextYeer In relation to yor 20.53 post from yesterday your friend is right. According to the Belfast Harbour website the Stena Adventurer is expected into the Dry Dock at 09.17 tomorrow. It is not showing how long she will be staying I will check lunchtime tomorrow. I am not sure why I did not notice it before.
Stokey, Im told by a friend who works in the docks that Stena Adventurer is next in dry dock, and its due in on Sunday or Monday coming.
I cant find any info on this though and its not on the NI Ferry Facebook page either.
My chum's not usually wrong though with his info, so fingers crossed we'll see Adventurer in H & W in the coming days.
droderick- I was being a little naughty, just to pass the time. :-)
Steady on there Tango. It must be hard work twiddling your thumbs 24/7!
Why do you say that Tango?
The ML is only a small part of the project that has frankly been blow way out of proportion. There is the EPC element, grid tie-in, reversal, tariffs across the Interconnector (both forward flow and reverse), entry into and exit from the gas network and a plethora of other commercial agreements to be negotiated and executed.
If JW and team are focussed on acquiring the ML, I am sure the new project manager is not sitting on his hocks. Given his background he would have been around the block a few times so knows exactly what next steps need to be undertaken.
I don't think any of these activities are worthy of an RNS - but work still goes on.
Well the new project manager has a cushy job at the minute :-)
Quite right Stokey!
droderick In relation to your 13.17 post and the artile you provided a link for one thing I noted was that RFA Victoria will need a refit to extend its life. I am not sure how long it is but what we might see is H&W getting the contract to do the refit as the other yards are fully booked up. I doubt such a refit will come cheap.
I fully agree with the comments.
My simple mind works as follows: On the assumption that H&W were to get a sub-contract of as low as 10% of the value, that's £120 million. That's for the fabrication work. Top that with the physical capability to assemble the ships which only Belfast has plus sea trials and final delivery.
I dare not presume anything or put any numbers against these incremental items but the potential is staggering. Right time, right place, right team and right strategy. Indeed, all to play for.
With Navantia apart of our team the Capitol may not be an issue, but I rather H&W had swollen coffers also.
BJ will start "levelling up".
