Read their most recent press release: "i3 expects to set the special dividend's ex-dividend date for 8 July 2021." Do some due diligence before you buy, read through the press releases and watch the interviews, lots of great information
Can someone tell me what the ex-dividend date is, please? I'm thinking of buying some stock for my son's portfolio
Thnx
Their may well be institutional buying before the record date. Normally the sp is expected to drop post the Ex date, because you are trading without benefit of the dividend. In this case things may be different because another dividend is expected late summer. Easy money for II's.
Don't see any low ball offer anytime. It will be the II's who dictate the future of i3 and they certainly won't accept such an offer.
Zak was pretty much spot on, i3 bought the assets cheaply; accordingly, we have been valued the same. We have excellent Canadian assets, including the Canadian staff who will have made the recommendations for the recent additions. I have complete faith their expertise will take i3 forward. I am one of those who advocate we should take further debt on our books and look for targets that are producing in their K's. There is one company who are not waiting around to export thro' the TransMountain extension. They are doing so via the USGC and in their words receiving $9.50 per bbl more than they get in Edmonton.
That's correct.
The BoD have followed the suggestion to rebrand the initial or maiden or Q1 dividend as Special, first aired by Tennyson in their analysis...
Fairdealer,
The 0.16p is the special dividend. The next dividend will be the H1 dividend set at 20-30% of FCF for the period 1st January to 30th June 2021 and will be announced with the interim results in September.
Is'nt the 0.16p div, separate to the Special Dividend?
Tomhuk
I have a similar number of shares. I’ll be reinvesting the Divi (not really worth cashing), I’m sure I’m not alone.
In terms of profit, it’s the growth that counts, not the divi.
Exciting times Ahead. It would be a shame to miss out as a LTH in pursuit of a small profit.
I keep thinking about buying into this in 2019… what a turnaround we have seen in the past 12 months
Tom
This one is a special divi so something extra, they will give 2 divis a year thereafter.
The next 6 months will be interesting, i3e will be really busy.
Moving up - should have read -
Predictive text!
Personally bearing in mind the spread and the risk of it no wing in an upward direction I’d sit tight and take the Divi
Thanks Tony, I agree, I’d kick myself if I missed out after several years of holding here.
Patience will be rewarded… Value will out!
Have a good Sunday!
tomhuk2000,
First of all there is no guarantee that the SP will rise into the ex dividend date and fall thereafter - you will have observed that i3e's SP has often not reacted as expected.
Secondly the dividend is only 0.16p per share, i3e often moves up and down by more than this on no news.
Thirdly you would need to look at the upcoming catalysts - I think we could be in for at least 1 or 2 material announcements a month for the forseeable future which could pop up at any time:
1) Serenity
2) additional wells - spudding, brought on line or new programs
3) Broker upgrades (or downgrades). WHI has indicated that there is an upgrade to come
4) Oil Price (up or down)
5) Additional media coverage - we've seen Motely Fool recently and the other outlets recently.
6) Additional Institutional buy in (or sale)
In my opinion the path of least resistance points towards a higher SP in the future and you would run the risk of not being able to get back at the price you exited all for a theoretical gain of 0.16p per share !
Slightly off topic, but I was hoping to ask for your opinions on the, hopefully, upcoming dividend.
I’ve not held any shares in a company paying a dividend before and wondered what your thoughts are regarding the effect on the share price in the run-up to and immediate days after of the ex-div date.
One would imagine that the share price will rise up to the Ex-div date and then drop back after as the opportunity to be eligible for the dividend ends.
Would it therefore be worth selling prior to the ex-div date on the rise, therefore forfeiting the dividend and then rebuy at a lower SP after the ex-div date? We all know what happens to the i3 SP when there is a lull of news flow.
I hold 1.5 million shares, so based on projections I would be eligible for a divi payment of just over £2000.
I’m not asking for advice, however it would be interesting to hear how other investors approach a dividend.
