" we all board a coach to take us the best part of 100ft to the Bristows heli arrivals, hell i could get on the coach walk to the back and get out quicker"
Don't forget to put your seat belt on LOL
winalot,
"It is always challenging getting home especially when your flight gets delayed due to 'water spouts', 'freezing fog' or one of the better ones was 'not enough wind for the chopper' i've heard them all!"
Fascinating. I'm beginning to think you haven't just worked N.Sea. Or if you have, Bristows et al are finding excuses. 'Not enough wind'????? 'Waterspouts'???? OK, I've seen flights grounded due to typhoons, but that was offshore W.Africa. In fact I've seen a 'waterspout' rip the entire helideck off a neighbouring platform down there, so not 'flying weather' !
'Freezing fog' is OK, though. Not going to take off the outbound flight like that, 'cos it might be worse out on the rig / platform / whatever, and have got yet worse for the inbound.
Safe return, and good luck.
ADUK,
It is always challenging getting home especially when your flight gets delayed due to 'water spouts', 'freezing fog' or one of the better ones was 'not enough wind for the chopper' i've heard them all!
My route is offshore to Scatsta then fixed wing to Aberdeen where we all board a coach to take us the best part of 100ft to the Bristows heli arrivals, hell i could get on the coach walk to the back and get out quicker. All of these involve mixing with other riff raff , potentail CV-19 victims (my self included, lol)
winalot,
" the most challenging part of getting home is the travel."
Ain't it always?
" I'll be in an S92 tomorrow, then a plane then the bus then the heliport baggage area and that's me just in Aberdeen."
Now you've got me utterly confused. Though N.Sea logistics have changed since I was there, which was decades ago. Chopper, plane, bus, then pick up your bags at a heliport?
And that's not you in Central Aberdeen, which will require a taxi, probably. Hope you've got a hazmat suit and a gallon of disinfectant. Aberdeen taxis aren't renowned for their sterility, and a driver who doesn't stop talking is a rarity.
ChangFai, your right. the most challenging part of getting home is the travel. I'll be in an S92 tomorrow, then a plane then the bus then the heliport baggage area and thats me just in Aberdeen.
Winalot, the biggest problem will be 19 bodies jammed into that S92.
Its laughable that the Heliports are all observing the social distancing rules, and then they pack the chopper full, as it would be too costly to do otherwise.
Majority of the time, Supervision have single man cabins anyway.
JAdam ; "price rockets on all these undervalued oil companies" would you mind holding your breath for me please, now ? JuJu economics ?
Still waiting for the blue day you promised last Weds, or was it Thursday; anomalous trichromacy ? Tomorrow you might be right, but then again, you might be wrong.
CV-19 angle, is relevant to the economy, to think otherwise is foolhardy, what a half-wit you are. Stick to collecting number plates.

Good to hear Winalot, what rig are you on if you dont mind me asking.
Good to know Winalot! Shame Marks and Spencers don't take a leaf out of the rig operators book.
I am currently offshore myself and believe i feel far more safer here than at home (when i leave tomorrow). The measures put in place here are 2nd to none. We can't fart the wrong way without asking. The hygiene has been upped dramatically. We have 2 stewards back to back days nights who's sole job is to walk around the accommodation cleaning/ sanitising handrails, door knobs etc. I'm sure the Akoa M is exactly the same. My list of changes could go on and on and on. The AM production will continue!
Changfai, totally rubbish. It will be anyone that shares a cabin or works alongside him or possibly has shared an office with him or maybe worked closely on a couple of workscopes with the guy. (and the AM is one of the few assets that only has single cabins so no sharing). - We wouldn't close Tesco's and send all the staff home because the checkout person tests positive. FFS, get a grip.
The guys and girls in the AM will be a lot more relaxed, and cracking on with the job, than some of the pathetic panicky armchair experts on here. If the cap fits........
"Anyone deemed to be in close contact with him" .... believe me, considering the persons job title, that is the whole crew.
Ammu123, what nonsense "stop production and help the people......". They had one chap that needed to be taken off due to the virus, anyone deemed to be in close contact with him would also be taken off on a more routine flight and sent home to self isolate. This has happened now on many platforms and Rigs in the uK sector, so stop panicking - there will be very clear procedures on board that will gave been followed, production will continue, and rightly so.
Ammu123 ; How is shutting in in production is going to save the workforce ?
Its safer to leave things running unless critical members of production/maintenance are unable to work.
Its more hazardous to shut in production than to leave it running, (why introduce another hazard?) If the process were to trip,(which its designed to do safely) then they may re-evaluate if staff measures dictate.
Operators have things in place for this happening.
They should stop production ASAP and help the people...
There were further removals of non essential workers from the AM yesterday, taking medic-approved precautions for those who may have been exposed to the worker medevac’d on Wednesday with Covid-19,Douglas Fraser is the journalist who tweeted it.
Surely it's a given that there will be more cases.
Will they rns it?
Will they close the production?
Hello
Was told that there’s 2nd case of Convid-19 on the Aoka, not yet been reported.
PBLJ
(must be a Dallas thing)
Olympic Zeus with PBLR in tow has declared its destination as Invergordon.
The final line is priceless. "Including a freeze on director salaries". WTF.
